I loved local long before local was cool and this bakery has a lot to love. So excited to find it. Since 1958. Friendly service. Great selection. Very reasonably priced. I wish you many years of profitable business.

My husband and I came in to order a full custom sheet cake for my mom?s birthday party. We had an image picked that we wanted to print to the cake. We were told over the phone that they could print edible images. However, when we got there we were hit with ?copyright? infringement comments on every image we picked. What I thought was a fresh loaf of Italian bread and it was hard like crunchy hard so I don?t know if I got a couple of day or a couple week old bread or if it?s set out too long or what the deal was but definitely not satisfied I mean the price is three bucks so I might just dry it out and make some croutons Definitely wasn?t for the sandwiches that I wanted.

Beautiful store front and they make a delicious cake. Shop local folks, it?s one of the biggest ways to bring economic value to your town!

I wonder if they just buy pies from the grocery stores and sell them as their own. I've had 4 occasions, in 4 yrs to get or eat a pie from this bakery and there's simply nothing to rave about. The flavor,texture and quality is just flat. The most recent purchase was at the Wellsburg Apple Festival, an apple pie of course, and it was like eating one of those personal pies you'd get at Walmart; sweet but not homemade or local bakery level quality! Guess it's Krogers next time!

This bakery has been around since I was just a youngster in diapers. Everything is always so fresh and it always smells so yummy in there. Their prices are that good anymore but yet not too bad either. It all depends are what your getting.

They used to have great raisin filled cookies, like my homemade. I bought some the other day.They were awful! Not a cookie dough, tasted like they were made with a cake mix. Load of sugar on outside. They fell apart. Won?t go back!!!!!

I have been going to the Downtown Bakery since I was a little girl. There is not a bakery around that will ever come close to the Downtown Bakery. Especially the glazed donuts, smiley face cookies and their birthday cakes ??

Love it here but the older cashier likes to run ur card twice if the receipt paper runs out.. double charging the card u use and, don't ya know...cannot do a darn thing to refund the extra charges. She tells you to come in and speak to the manager in the afternoon, but they don't seem to know who that is or when a good time to speak directly to the "Manager" might be... The best donuts I've ever had, in my life! No exaggerations! The ladies who work there were a bit rough when I first moved here cuz I be stoned sumtines n end up leaving w/3 of every other donut and 5 of the rest?????? it took a bit to soften em up but now? I feel missed when I walk in there now ?? not sure if my decision to leave a lil extra on the counter when I leave helped the softening err not, but it didn't hurt ??

I went at 10ish and there were NO cream filled anything, NO jelly filled, NO raspberry filled, all that was left was the donuts nobody cares about. Not that I need them anyway but I've been happy here before. So my question is, if these are the top sellers why not make more of them to last the day so you DON'T get UNsatisfied customers? I stopped and picked up a few of the long John's. It smelled nice and was clean. One staff member was waiting on a customer and had to call for another several times til she came out of the back and waited on me. Long John's tasted good and you could tell handmade vs grocery store variety. I dont think you could go wrong with anything you decide to eat in here. Will stop back when I am passing through again.

if you need to pick up a dozen donuts then youll get the job done and support a mom and pop. other than that its ?standard? and drab.

I haven't been to the Downtown Bakery in quite some time with now living in Houston but I got to stop there today and get my classic "Smiley Face" cookies fix and they're still awesome! ICONIC. Their cookies and pastries are always good and made fresh every morning. never had a problem here. Absurdly good pricing, you can fill up a whole box of sweets for $10. Every employee i've talked to is super nice. Can't go wrong. Go here and support our local businesses!

Lady working counter very friendly and helpful. Lots of donuts,cookies and pastries. Got creme filled and custard filled,donuts great flavor and fresh but creme filling only on one end not all way thru donut, the custard had no flavor usually custard is a bit sweet no flavor but the donut was fresh. So depending on what you expect stop by and try.

Fresh baked daily! The Cheese Cake is the best. They have it all and it's like the bakeries when I was a kid in the 70s. Friendly helpful employees.

Love love love their donuts. Go early for the best selection. From cream sticks to cake donuts they have it all. And remember they have the original smiley cookies. Great baby cream horns but stopped accepting EBT and some of the dough used, like the cream puffs, taste like old. Like how old smells, yeah that's the taste. My mastiff walked away my fr! &. $23 for 4 donuts and 12 baby cream horns (.89cents each), and 2 old puffs supposed to be fresh daily I call bs on that but get cookies or baby nut rolls or the cream horns your good! ... So kinda pricey for not the best taste.

Drove 50 miles because they advertised Hungarian nut rolls, what a disappointment, worst nut rolls I?ve ever had. They were made with filo dough, and the nuts we?re not even ground up to a smooth paste, large chunks of nuts in them. If you?ve ever had Hungarian nut rolls don?t waste your time on these.

Goodness! I've been getting Down Town bakery longer then I can remember ?? When I come to town that's one of the first stops for me! But the last few times I've stopped they have RUD women working there! Your not happy why be there?!

Downtown Bakery is on my checklist of places to visit on every one of my roughly quarterly trips to Steubenville. The maple iced long johns taste exactly as they did when my grandmother would bring them home when I was a little guy back in the late 80s/early 90s. Other items never disappoint and are always surprisingly affordable.

Everything I have had from here so far is fantastic!! The staff is friendly. The place is clean. Update: I bought two pineapple cookies. Took a bite out of one then noticed there was a dead gnat baked into it, they tried to tell me it was just on top. When I took it in they looked at it said sorry and offered me store credit. Never again.

Love their cakes. Always go there for birthday cakes. Smiley face cookies are a must for young and old alike. Doughnuts are delicious, but need to get there early for the best selection.

What happened? Nothing taste the same. Perhaps you all should rebrand and try something new. I was very disappointed in the 18 smiling face cookies and the chocolate chip cookies I purchased and brought back to Atlanta with me. They were anything but fresh.

Nice little bakery. So many pastries to choose from. The staff are very kind and professional they're more than willing to help you out if you wasn't sure about your choices. Highly recommend to use cash for convenience. They do accept Cards. I had the strawberry topping doughnuts it was so good! Highly recommended.

Wasn't impressed! I gave a 3 star because this was just an average bakery experience for me. In fact they messed up one of my items. Asked for Bavarian creme filled donut and they gave me white cream... yuck ?? While the cookies, donuts and bread was fine, I've been to much better bakeries elsewhere. I went here because reviews were good. I was not WOW'ed , it was just okay. In fact, I liked Kroger's bakery items much better and will probably just keep going there.

During the Xmas parade this place was hopping, busy as all get out. But the wait was worth it as I got a loaf of Italian bread along with some Santa n snowman sugar cookies. Although I did think they were a little pricey at $ 1.00 apiece, but quite tasty. I shall patronage their business again in the near future ????????

I love going here for our cakes and cookies, the Bavarian filling in a white cake is my FAVORITE cake, and I can't ever go in and not get cream puffs. The cream puffs are what dreams are made of. All the people who work there are super nice and patient as well.

I grew up in steubenville and loved when my grandmother took me for a pastry here. My very dear friend begged the bakery to send me some cookies they did not want to ship for fear they would show up as crumbs. Well I can tell you I loved the cookies and did not care some were crumbs and I was so happy to have these cookies they are delicious! Thank you!

I used to be a very loyal customer for years. One day I had called to order a cookie cake for my son's birthday and everything was fine until I got a call back from one of there workers telling me they had no chocolate chips and that I needed to pay in advance with a credit card for them to make it.After dealing with them for years and spending a lot of money through the years I was shocked.I had never had to do that before so Ooooo ridiculous. I came home to visit and bought 2 cream hornes. Took my first bite and spit it out. The usual delicate cream filling was replaced by a nasty, gritty horrible sugar filling that I threw away after one bite.

The cookies and donuts I got the other day was not that good the cookies were hard and the cream sticks barely had anything in them this is not the downtown bakery that I remember because their stuff was a lot better than this maybe new cook

This really was pathetic! We were in town and stopped at this bakery. We wanted to turn around and leave, as it didn't look so good. We tried raisin filled cookies, lady fingers, sugar cookies with butter cream and nut roll cookies. Everything was stale and just awful. So sad.

I remember going here with my grandmother after parades and festivals. She'd always buy me a cookie. Their cookies and pastries are phenomenal. Great people too.

Their cakes, cookies and pastries are second to none! I went there to buy a cake for a coworker. They personalized the cake, sold it for a reasonable price and the coworker enjoyed the cake, surpassing all expectations!
