Donutland

The name is epic, the food not so much. There was a really cool retro vibe and they had some unique pastries like the 'rose' but the dough and frosting were gas station level. Everything was fresh and the staff was friendly, I just was expecting something special and memorable from a place with that name.

Visited on Fri June 6th on national donut day, and was very disappointed in the quality of the donuts I purchased for 7 dollars and some change. My Boston cream was very doghey and super nasty chewy instead of the light and fluffy I'm used too.....I want a full refund....and no the cashier didn't give me a receipt.

Go early or order ahead. The best cake donuts I've ever had. Great flavors. The cherry chocolate and the orange are amazing. Staff is so nice. Pam made some great suggestions for me to pre-order. Everything I had was so incredibly delicious.

I absolutely love Donutland. I grew up going here and have enjoyed it for the past 20+ years. I view it as a staple in our community. Their donuts are always made fresh and taste so delicious. It would be great if they could stay open long enough for everyone Tobe able to buy donuts. I went to buy donuts and they was closed and this was at 2pm. If I had a business like donut land or even ran one I would stay open until at least 5pm.!!

Oh my word, we got there a little late so the assortment wasn't as vast, but we did not leave disappointed by any means. Donutland's donuts were excellent...crispy on the outside and fluffy and full of flavor on the inside. I can't wait to make it back to CR and have some more of these great donuts!

This is the first time I have ever been to a Donutland. I was shocked at the variety of amazing looking donuts. Plus they had a display case full of large cinnamon rolls, both baked and deep fried, and several other delectible looking donuts. I purchased a pack of 15 in an assortment and everyone loved them!

Cake donuts! I grew up outside of Iowa & Donutland was the first "cake" donut I've ever had. Honestly, I was not a fan at first. I really just didn't get it. I thought they tasted great, but I maintained they just weren't donuts. Simply the BEST. I have been going to Donut Land since I was a kid with my grandparents. Now, I love going there and smelling the fresh donuts and coffee and remembering my time with them. I get to bring my own kids from time to time and tell stories of my own childhood. Regardless, everything is delicious and the staff is extremely friendly

There called ?Donutland? that?s funny because hardly any selections for donuts very limited being from out of state and wanting to try something new very disappointing. Even my kids noticed and mentioned that they don?t have any donuts. If you can?t keep up with orders and business why have a donut shop? Dunkin? Donuts put this place to shame sad experience never again will I hype up a donut shop to take my kids into.

I haven?t been since I was a kid, and I?ve been spoiled with great donuts in Chicago. So I was worried about coming back and that these would taste like a Dunkin Donut, which is not good. But, I was blown away by how good these donuts still are!! The Cherry and blueberry are my favorite. I was so happy, I went back the next day!

I am so upset I have to leave this place. I would be a lifetime customer. Their donuts are fantastic. I want more!

Donutland is the best place in Cedar Rapids to get donuts. They have a wide variety during the week and on the weekends. Highly recommend getting there early if going on Sunday as they tend to be very crowded and the donuts get picked over by people going after church.

Good selection of classic donuts. Got there shortly after they opened on a Saturday morning and there were many to choose from. Friendly, competent service. There were few tables for the regulars inside and some merch in a small display.

Amazing donuts! I had the old fashioned, the chocolate chip, the crumb and the cherry. You could tell they were baked fresh that morning!

My friend and I went around 10:30, and they want a specialty donut. But they were all sold out. They didn't have a huge selection of regular Donuts either. But friends take it donuts and said they were okay. But I only got coffee. And their coffee is always good I love their coffee

I live in Minnesota but have family in Cedar Rapids, so when we visit Iowa we NEVER miss an opportunity to stop for a box (or two) of Donutland's freshly made donuts! My grandparents brought my mom and her siblings here every Sunday after church, so it's been a big part of our family since it first opened in 1971 (congrats on their 50th anniversary, by the way ??). My absolute favorites are their blueberry or old fashioned dounuts! (Krispy Kreme's a dirty word around here....??) You NEED to go.... Right now

Price. Sorry Donutland, but you have turned a regular stop into a rare treat. The donuts are very good, but for $20 a dozen and you can't pick from a third of the case, its no wonder there were ample donuts available and no one there on a Sunday morning.

I am a life long patron of Donutland. The donut that set them apart, in my opinion, was the vanilla cream filled long John. The cream that was used, up until recently, was unmatched. Loved the fresh donuts. The dining area is basic, but has plenty of windows for watching the world go by and enjoying folks coming and going in the morning. Staff are friendly and patient. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

This place is an absolute gem. Walked up to the building with the line out the door, still got 2.5 dozen donuts and a coffee, in and out in 8 minutes. Everyone with a smile on their faces, and literally some of the best donuts I?ve ever had.

I am visiting from California and ordered my donuts online as the filled long johns always sell out. Ordered them at 6:05 am and apparently the order was not fulfilled. The store claimed they "did not get the order" yet they somehow refunded my money .... Hmmm. Quite disappointing as I only have an opportunity once every few years to get a filled long john. I will not visit this store again.

Donuts are amazing as always. Only thing is I ordered a pick up a day in advance. On the website doesn?t say anything about fancies so they can be apart of the big 15 box. When order picked up was told they don?t qualify and then another was too big: I ordered a rose and they substituted a double chocolate which I won?t eat. I walk in 5 minutes after they open, and you would be lucky if you got some chocolate donuts. This is the only reason I don't come in weekly. I am always disappointed that a very delicious donut shop is always out of one of the most popular flavors before they even open.

As a apple Fritter expert, i can confidently say what I got was not a fritter. It was just a blob of cinnamon roll dough with apple mixed in. Also fritters should be fried not baked. The other donuts I got were average, along the lines of a hy-vee donut. I've actually had better donuts at some Hy-Vees.

I have tried these several times when coworkers have kindly brought them into work or after Sunday church service and I have yet to have a good donut from the iconic white and orange box. Any bad reviews of the donuts here are just likely from people that aren't a fan of old fashioned cake-style donuts. They are certainly delicious! Highly recommend the Cherry flavor. They are not your typical fluffy frosted donuts, though. These are old fashioned style donuts so Please be aware of that before you visit or leave a review!

Dont know what happened to this place. The last 3 times I've gone, the cherry donuts have been meh. The icing is soaked into the donut making it forever soggy and messy to eat. The texture has been more chewy and springy than the cake donuts they used to have. Literally the only reason I go to this place is for the cherry donuts and fried cinnamon rolls. I don't get donuts very often, oh well! Everything else is still great.

This is the only donut place I've been to that tastes like State Fair food. The donuts are top notch, the building has a 70s vibe pretty hard, but that's okay. Service is acceptable, they are always packed. Old fashioned donuts are a fave. Please look yourself longingly in the mirror before you order something other than a donut at a donut shop and ask yourself: "Am I making a good decision?" Parking lot is a little bit of an anxiety inducer.

Friendly Staff is only positive thing. At 7am the donuts were very dry with no flavor. I usually go to Casey's. Casey's have much better quality. Thought I would give Donutland 1 more chance, definitely my last. Just not as good as they were. Don't waste ur money here.

My family and I came in earlier this morning for 3 donuts and 3 drinks. All were fantastic! We had an accident and spilled coffee all over the table and donuts. Donutland has good donuts but they can follow any order. I put in a online order for the next day and when I went to go pick it up they had given out most of the flavors I had ordered. It was unfortunate they had to substitute most of the donuts. When I got there they struggled to even find my order in their queue. They need to organize their business and figure out if they can handle online orders

There is no doubt that their Donuts are the best in the area but UNFORTUNATELY their online ordering and order pickup is probably the worst I have ever seen. Literally, you can't get almost 90% of your donuts if you order after 6 or 0630 in the morning ! I understand this experience 8 times so far. I brought it up to managers attention in last 2 years but unfortunately isbstill ongoing issue. It shouldn't be that hard to fix. Donuts 5/5 but service for online, phone and pick up is 2/5.

The best place for donuts in Cedar Rapids, Donutland has remained almost unchanged since it opened in the 70's. While other newer donut shops offer crazy toppings and offbeat flavors, Donutland remains true to its roots, offering classic donuts and pastries that are AMAZING. You have to get 'em fresh, though; get there as early as possible. If you go on a Sunday morning, be prepared to wait in line.

Stopped in around 7:30 a.m. They had a large variety of donuts and pastries available along with coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate. You could stay in or get it to go. They also had boxes premade so you could grab n go for family , friends and coworkers or you could still pick your own. Service was fast and friendly. Food was great!

The staff was fantastic and so helpful on donut selection as there were so many to choose from! Even threw in a lot of extras for the kids! Nothing fancy inside but don't let that fool you the apple and cherry donuts are worth the drive!

Worked here when i was 16 or so... Loved it. And since Vicki sold, i was a little afraid it was going to go downhill or things were going to change. The new owner has done tremendous though, great customer service in the mornings and kept the same recipes! Now there's a blueberry cream old fashioned donut and it is pretty impressive! Great job to the staff and owner... I won't ever cheat on you with krispy kreme or dunkin donuts ever!!

This donut shop is worth driving to from any distance. They have mastered the taste separating them from any others. Top 3 are Blueberry, Chocolate Chip then Cherry but there is NOT a flavor I do not love. They're simply the best!!

This place has the best donuts in Cedar Rapids! The staff is always polite and the coffee is always tasty. They recently just started taking credit cards but require a $5 minimum. This place also serves deli sandwiches and walking tacos both are good as well. It's worth the extra mile to make here for the best Cedar Rapids donuts.

Call before you go to make sure they?re actually open. Three times over the past couple months, I?ve tried to stop by during their stated business hours, but twice they were closed early because they sold out, and the third time, there was no reason listed on the handwritten sign saying they were closed. There was also no notice of the closure on their Facebook page or Google business listing.

Growing up, this was thee place! Great flavors and assortment. These doughnuts uses to be made overnight, so that when they opened...fresh. Now, they start making them at 4pm, the previous day. I placed an online order and one of the items didn?t ?stick? when added to the cart or you were out and your staff took it upon themselves to ?replace? items with something else that my grandchildren don?t like! I had onky 2 kinds of nibblers: you should have filled with the other kind- nobody is eating the chocolate, vanilla, and cherry and you didn?t even include 6 of the blueberry nibblers that were ordered! Donutland is a Cedar Rapids staple. This placed has remained nearly the same for decades and I love it. Coming here takes me back to times as a kid when I was brought here by my grandparents, or to times when we'd stop in for a quick breakfast with the family. Case-in-point: Asked staff for "2 of your freshest donuts." The person at the front counter hesitated and looked at her coworkers unsure of what to do. I felt like this was a pretty straightforward request, however they were ultimately unable to deliver.
