Super cute local donut shop. Support local! I have seen a lot of reviews mentioned that they are out of certain donuts ... Well this shop will customize any pre-order for you so whatever you want is always available with your name on it and ready to go. Call the day before you need it and reserve your order. The new wild Cherry flavor is my favorite! I love putting my money back into the local economy instead of supporting big box stores. I'm glad Hickory has such a great place. Very unique flavors. I have not visited this location however our boss treated us to donuts from here. I could say they are fresh, tasty, delicious, have great variety of flavors and much better that KK or DD.

Better show up one hour before opening to get any donuts from this place. It doesn't matter when you show up. I couldn't count the many times, I've been told that they are out of donuts by these people. It could be 10:00 in the morning or 2:00 in the afternoon and I get the same result. Today was it for me. Donut Life has the best traditional-style donuts I've had in North Carolina. They're fresh, consistent, and if you like yours full of something, filled with homemade goodness right in front of you when you order them. The staff is friendly, and the pricing accurately reflects the quality of the donuts. Definitely worth adding as a stop on your way through town, or making it a regular part of your "treat yourself" routine if you're local!

While the donuts are spectacular (Highly recommend !), I wanted coffee with mine and the coffee pots had cold coffee in them. It was the afternoon, so I understand they probably make fresh coffee for the morning crowd, however, when I requested a coffee to have with my donuts, I wasn't offered a fresh pot to be made. You may not think this place looks like much by driving by considering it is tucked into a very small little shopping mall however do not let the size fool you there is nothing but amazing culinary creations coming out of this place and the owner who you can see at the shop from 2:00 to 4 a.m. hard at work on these culinary creations really takes joy in his work and that is rare in our line of work these days. There is plenty of free parking available. There was a line when we got there on the weekend. Staff was friendly and moved through the line quickly. The donuts were tasty.

Usually I am in love with this place and I used to say that they had the best in Hickory however our recent visit left us very disappointed. Haven't had a donut in a very very long time and asked the girl nicely if she would mind to give us extra cream in the donuts, she didn't reply , we even offered to pay for extra cream in them. Best donuts in the area. These are huge fluffy donuts with or without frosting and you can have filing added in some of them. My favorite is the Long Jon with Bavarian Cream. They are super friendly and helpful as well.

I've been to 48 states and 3 countries, and these are the best damn doughnuts.

These donuts r great in everway EXCEPT ONE. The price ! I fail to understand why anyone would pay over 20 dollars for mixed dozen. Donuts are a few simple ingredients I just can't justify the awful feeling I get eating 2 dollar a piece donuts. Never a coupon or deal just HIGH PRICES.

Donuts are pretty tasty and the prices are fair. Unfortunately I came in before 12 (6 hours before closing) and they only had a few basic choices left. Why stay open later if you don't have any choices left?

Hickory you have a hidden jem here, I've eaten donuts from all over the USA, these are in my top 10 all time. I told the young lady helping me if they were good I would definitely be back, I'm 100% going back, the glazed can only be surpassed by a place that is now closed in New Orleans, MacKenzie's donuts. And if you've had them when they were around you know how good they were. I'm going to gain 10lbs while I'm here working lol

My husband& I stopped by 1 morning after hearing about this place. We grabbed 2 donuts& the man helping us ended up making sure we got the bigger since we were both trying them. Bigger, fluffier, & fresher than expected. Very delicious& great customer service. Recommend the pinecone! Will be back.

Everything tasted great! We had a cinnamon roll, apple fritter, bacon maple , glazed and jelly. Everything was fresh and servings are generous. Would recommend.

Wow, I am blown away by this place! The donuts are literally the best donuts in town. I?ve always grabbed donuts from bigger brand names, and these donuts from donut life are 1000 times better. There were two workers when I went, and they both were so nice and caring, even while it was busy. I will absolutely be back and highly recommend donut life.

The guy working was very friendly. Their donuts are gigantic. The only kind I eat are cream filled and they fill them when you order and they have different flavors to choose from. I was there may 10th 2024 donut and great in every way.. but why sugar coat everything? I got a pinecone and apple frider they must coat with hot sugat mixture and dip them hot out the oven it was. Nothin but sugar tasted like sugar bottom of frider was soggy wet sugar.. dont dip everything its nasty.. i under stand it help keep things freshed softer but its just to much sugar... I dont like to special order cause if i want a donut i dont wanna wait until the next day.. take it easy on the dipping

Was in the process of asking about the donuts when the employee helping us asked us to wait so they could take a phone call. They took an order and started placing what little variety of donuts they had left in a to go box before taking our order, when we were there first and in the store. Very fresh donuts, well worth the price. I have been to Donut Life on several occasions now and every time the dough tastes great. I would say these are easily the best donuts in Hickory. They have a large variety and can customize the filling in many of the donut varieties. These are the best doughnuts!! I had an apple fritter and it was definitely the best I have ever had! My husband loves the maple bacon ones. First time visiting on Saturday 4/22/2023. Donut selection was very limited. My biggest issue was the fact that the employee was not even concerned about any questions we might have. Very rude and seemed like we was a burdin to him and his routine. Prices showed per Dozen and half dozen so we just assumed mix and match. The reality was $14 for 6 donuts. Donut Life has good traditional donuts at reasonable prices. Dark coffee was good and customer service was great. We enjoyed choosing our own fillings for our eclares which definitely made our day.. These are the best doughnuts in town! They are always fresh and a generous size. I've always enjoyed interacting with the staff here as they are all very pleasant and helpful. We love them so much we used them for our wedding and our guests couldn't stop talking about them. Highly worth stopping in for! But don't go too late in the day-they go fast!

Updated Review: i had given this place a 3 out of 5 starts (read below).... they have moved the lady I had an issue with to the kitchen instead of the counter where she was tending for customers. Thats a better place for her. Donuts are a little pricey but delicious. Good for special treats! Old review from 2020... First please make sure you are being charged the right amount. The Asian lady keeps charging all donuts at 1.69 instead of 1.09 if you buy a lot of them it will add up. Always had

While their selection was reduced due to being ten minutes from closing on Christmas Eve, I can say these are some of the best pastries I've ever had, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I heartily recommend this shop for anyone looking to please their taste buds at the expense of their blood sugar level. :-)

My sister and I are working on the NC Donut Trail. You can choose whichever fillings for donuts you like, which is cool because they aren't sitting around getting stale from the liquid. We had a chocolate frosted with Bavarian cream; raspberry filled glazed; fruity pebbles; and one regular chocolate iced. These were BIG donuts. All were delicious. No complaints here.

Donut life has "the best" donuts I have ever tasted. They melt in your mouth. They don't have a large selection and they go like hotcakes so get there early. There's always a line so go there expecting to wait, but not too long. Their service is quick. They want to help you get what you want and to enjoy it thoroughly. The only downside is that they don't have decaf coffee.

Stopped by because I had heard great things about Donut Life. I was not disappointed. They produce a great product. Went to Raleigh this past weekend and wanted a good donut. I thought being the capital that they would have something comparable to Donut Life. If they do I couldn't find it. Delicious donuts! We were surprised with a delivery of their donuts for my husband's birthday. They were warm and fresh! Some of the best I've ever had. Definitely worth checking out.

The donuts were definitely 5 stars, however the service was not. What I ordered took 15 minutes, I was okay with that. Once my order was complete, she boxed it up and left it sitting on the counter as she waited on a huge group of people. I love their donut holes. I can't get them very often because they are so good, I would be big as a house if I got them too often. One day I felt like splurging on some and when I got there at 4:45, there was a sign that said "Sold Out". If you want to try them, get there early.
