I?m adjusting to being dairy-free and thought I?d treat myself for my birthday. I?d heard about this place with vegan donuts and decided it was worth the trek. When I walked in, I almost thought it was all for nothing ? the donuts looked way too good to be vegan! But a kind staff member reassured me that everything was 100% vegan and helped me pick out a box of four. Each one was absolutely delicious. This place is a gem, and I?ll definitely be back. Thank you for making my birthday sweet and dairy-free!
Loved the strawberry lab donut! The donuts are so delicious and this location also has a few ice cream flavors too. It?s all vegan but you would never be able to tell? At least I couldn?t :)
Donut Friend is a never fail vegan donut and ice cream shop located on York St in Highland Park (there?s another location too but I always go to HLP). My favorite donut is the Strawberrylab with a special shoutout to the Angry Samoa. Everything is very fresh always and reasonably priced. Great cold brew too. Highly recommend!
A lot of very appealing looking donuts. I had the compassion fruit Donut. Great flavor and soft texture how you would expect it. Service was also friendly and fast.
Everything and I mean EVERYTHING about this place is awesome!! Very kind workers and the donuts are delicious ?? if I could go everyday I totally would! ????
Staff was lovely. Inventive vegan selection and musical homage naming conventions. A good place for friend hangs.
These are such good donuts! The passion fruit was a true standout - very flavorful and tart, with bitter cocoa nibs. The mango donut was also delicious and the tiny bit of cayenne and lime zest just added to how good it was. The Nutella donut was very tasty. We were tempted by so many of the options. The people who worked there were super friendly.
This place is amazing. I just had the best service from Filma (I hope I caught your name right). The donuts are awesome, and other vegans will send you here, so you know their reputation is legit. I've never had the ice cream, but I asked questions today, and they answered kindly, and I'm looking forward to trying it next time. Thanks for existing Donut Friend ?? another awesome L.A. staple!
Their donuts remind me of the homemade donuts we would get growing up from the local Amish farmers market in Delaware. I have not tasted such fresh cream filled donuts in close to 20 years and now I feel old saying that, but I'm grateful this place can trigger those memories!
Really original flavors! Every bite is full of life. You can get your classic glazed, all the way to some really experimental fun flavors. Reasonably priced for the quality. Great location around lots of shops and fun stuff! A must for any donut lover - local or visiting la!
Very good atmosphere and service. The building and decorations inside were very pleasant! The customer service was amazing, and they had plenty of donut options. The employees were super funny. They also had ice cream. Overall, amazing experience and I would highly recommend.
It's so weird that donut places have evolved into these singular personal business executions... don't you think that's interesting???? Like, why would that be the case on such a widespread level. I dunno, just something that occurred to me. But anyways, in light of that, as far as idiosyncratic donut executions go, this one stands high above the rest - any place with a Fugazi donut is going to win me over, so take that for what it's worth. But here's why it's worth your time: ? The donuts are clever and
This place made me happy. Great selection of high quality donuts, interesting flavors, friendly employees. Not cheap but worth the price. We got compassion fruit, angry Samoa, king puff, panda berry, carrot cake, and old fashioned. Everything was excellent. Wish we lived closer and could try them all!
Super Delicious vegan doughnuts! What a spread! Unfortunately one of their best sellers, the Nutella flavor was sold out, but we had the jelly, brulee and a Danish one and they were all excellent.
I've had their strawberry shakes and peanut butter shakes so far, and they are so delicious!! The donuts are unbelievably delicious. I wish I had known about this place before. Now I'm a regular.
Since my daughter introduced me to this place, I go every chance I can. We can really use a little place, (but huge in flavors) like this in Bakersfield! It only needs the service to be more outgoing more friendly more Happier!?????? I never liked donuts because awful taste, until Donut Fried! There?s no bad taste at all.??????
Highly recommended stop on a trip to LA. Donut Friend has amazing vegan doughnuts! I can't say enough about how tasty and colorful they are. The cute location has been busy each time I've stopped in in the evening, but the line moves quickly and the treat is worth the wait.
As a vegan I find it really hard to find great Donuts. When I stumbled into Donut Friend I wasn't for sure it was vegan because there aren't really signs there. Once I realized every delicious-looking donut in the case was vegan I went crazy! My favorite is the Angry Samoan which is like a Girl Scout cookie complete with the shredded coconut and chocolate! The old fashioned donuts are amazing too. But the win here is any donut stuffed with their incredible and totally dairy-free cream filling. The youth br
No matter where you are in LA you need to come to Donut Friend! For those who eat gluten free the donuts in the black print on the menu are the ones that can be made gluten free or you can go the DIY route. However, keep in mind that the gluten free donuts share a dryer with the non gluten free ones. I ordered the gluten free polar berry club and it was absolutely amazing! The donut was moist and flavorful, the berries were ripe and sweet and the lemon glaze was to die for. My sister got the Panda berry and
Brilliant vegan donuts, great staff and puppacinos! How can you go wrong.
I wish this place had a better sitting area with more comfortable chairs. Other than that The selection and flavors of Donuts are fantastic. All flavors are vegan (including the ice cream). I got the banana with cookie butter on a plain donut, and Samoa flavored one with ice cream. I highly recommend this place.
Refreshing and flavorful donuts. I haven?t been back here in YEARS and it was as good as I remember. Definitely worth a stop if you?re a donut fanatic.
This is a go-to, absolute must for me when I am in LA. They have so many options, the donuts are humongous. And everyone who has ever worked there is SUPER NICE! This time around we ordered: - Green Teagan and Sara - StrawberryLab Perfection. Perfectly fluffy. Not overpoweringly sugary. Just perfect. Can?t wait to go back!!
This place is FANTASTIC! The donuts & ice cream are to die for! Plus the service is AWESOME! The owners are so WONDERFUL!!! I wish we lived closer so we could go there every day!!!!??
Definitely the place to go for fun vegan donuts! The flavors are all very unique and interesting, but they still have some basics for the traditionalists. Some of my favorites were: the Polar Berry and the S'mores. I didn't care much for the Cookie Butter and my boyfriend didn't like it at all because it was salted. I picked up a classic maple as well because that's my favorite basic donut and that was great quality. My non-vegan boyfriend thought the S'mores was incredible! We also picked up the Fudge and
There is no place like Donut Friend! It is a God send for my allergies. Even my non vegan friends love it and of course the packaging/branding is amazing. I will drive 40 minutes in LA traffic for Teagan and Sarah matcha donut lol
Donut shop with actually good vegan options. They carry both yeast and cake donuts with inventive, fun, and delicious options. Highly suggest for a great treat, even if you?re not vegan!
Delicious vegan donuts with customizable options! No wonder people are always lined up for their donuts. Their donuts and toppings taste incredible, you wouldn't believe that they're completely vegan! Must try: GG Almond and Strawberry Lab donuts.
Small but cute and trendy with very helpful staff. Great vegan Donuts very fresh. You can purchase pre-made wonderful Creations like polar Berry doughnuts. Or you can make your own amazing donut. Very tiny space inside for sitting couple tables that are very small outside. Parking is either on the street or immediately around the corner at a public lot.
Yum. This is the original location. They will customize your donut with a one in a million combination of ingredients and toppings. Compared to other famous places like Voodoo in Portland, they use less oil and sugar, and the dough is moister.
The not quite my variety and the prices are a bit higher than your typical donut, but the donuts are not typical which is what's great about them. The Pumpkin Piebald doesn't look as interesting as the other choices, but it was better than the most interesting ones to me and those were great.
Their donuts are delicious, finding vegan raised donuts is usually a challenge and they have a lot of variety and unique flavors including some that are very decadent. I just wish they would make them without soy.
I went to check out Donut Friend and I was surprised there was a line of people waiting for it to open! I really wanted to try the triple chocolate but they didn't have any. I settled for a caramel pecan old fashioned which was kinda meh. The donut itself was good (fresh/flavorful) but the caramel tasted like the "caramel" chips you can buy, not actual caramel. I was pretty disappointed. The chocolate yeast donut made up for it though because... YUM! Cooked to perfection but still doughy and fresh. So, so g
She said, "we're only friends," so I took her to Donut Friend. She loves this donut shop, and we come back every Friday night. I just wish my bank account could handle it.
This vegan punk rock boutique donut shop was the brainchild of Mark Trombino, music producer for such bands as Jimmy Eat World and Blink 182 and former drummer of the band Drive Like Jehu. They make the donuts in house and you can customize the donuts to your liking. I?ll tell you as someone who?s not a vegan that the donuts here taste amazing and if it wasn?t advertised as a vegan donut you could never tell the difference. Everything in the store is plant based from the donut toppings to the almond milk
I mean...what else is there really to say about this place except that they have AMAZING donuts????? Their flavor combinations and donut concepts are really unique and their prices are really decent! We tried four different flavors for our first rendezvous here and we were not disappointed. These are not the exact names (because for the life of me I can't remember them all haha) but we tried the one that was like a Samoan cookie, one that was filled with nutella, another that is apparently a customer favor
Its all VEGAN!!! Bet a lot of folks didn't know that! Or couldn't tell the difference. Their donuts are packed full of taste and affordable! Around $3.50 each....cr?me brulee and mint chocolate creme stack! I've tasted my far share of bad vegan desserts that only taste like one thing...one type is sugar, no matter the change in texture of additions. But this place is fantastic! They even had vegan scoops. It is highland park's Yorktown. Good luck with parking.
My favorite vegan donut spot!! There are excellent choices and diverse flavors something for everyone! If you don't see a donut that they have in their case that they have on the certain menu they will make it fresh for you!! Donut friend is the best vegan donut spot ever! Old fashioned, Creme Brulee. You name it they've got it!??????????????????????????????????
Hands down best vegan donuts in LA. They even taste better than non vegan donuts. I have had non vegan friends try them and they couldn't believe how good they were and said they wouldn't have known the donuts were vegan had I not told them. I only wish they used Postmates or Grubhub so I wouldn't have to drive from Burbank all the time. They use Caviar which does not deliver to all of the LA area like the other 2 do.
Best vegan doughnuts I?ve EVER had. Hands down not too sweet & not too dry. The doughnuts are also well priced, it was so cheap we ended each getting a box ourselves. I highly recommend visiting here if you have the chance for breakfast.
After going vegan, I missed the complex artisan donuts that some donut shops like to make. I was excited to hear about Donut Friend, a donut shop that makes similar donuts that are 100% vegan! I stopped by on a Friday night and there was a line, but nothing crazy - maybe a 10 minute wait? I assume the peak hours are around that time. When I got inside, I walked by a display case filled with different types of artisan donuts. Each donut had a punny name and they all looked fancy. Prices per donut vary; th
Holy gentrification, Batman. They have these off the wall donuts at these awesomely expensive prices. So I think I dropped $40 bucks here because I felt like ballin' out on some carbs. I think I ordered almost one of everything they had that looked different. They have some great concoctions and some run-of-the-mill items that aren't really worth it. If you're there for a couple of pieces, definitely a good side piece for your equally expensive latte.
I drove up from San Diego for these donuts--a 200+ mile round trip. They did not disappoint. I heard about Donut Friend from a YouTube video and knew I had to go when I saw green tea glaze and donuts filled with strawberries and the vegan version of cream. You'll never know it's not "real". Everything tastes rich, sweet, and artery-hardening, plant-based or no. They're open until 10 p.m. on most days from what I remember, so they have breakfast treats and late night cravings covered. There's a wide select
They have such an amazing selection of donuts. They can make some on demand! Some of the proceeds of some of them go to charity. The compassionfruit is my favorite. But seriously the flavors are insane!
We are from Pittsburgh, PA, and this was on our list of 'awesome vegan places to try in LA'. It did not disappoint. They had tons of premade options, as well as DIY. We are chocolate fanatics, so we got the one with chocolate frosting and chips and the Smores one. They were so good I'm considering buying a dozen before leaving here.
This place may be heaven on Earth. Create your own donut, what more do you want. All the donuts are vegan too, but it is honestly the best donut I've had in LA, and maybe the entire US.
These are the best donuts you will ever taste in your life. You can never guess these are vegan. please open one in San Francisco Bay area too. It's going to be a super hit. Every trip to Los Angeles is incomplete without visit to Donut Friend.
Donuts were delicious. Service was quick and gracious.
LOVE Donut Friend ???? Their donuts are all plant based and insanely delicious ?? Whether you?re vegan or not, they are amazing donuts and can definitely recommend. I haven?t tried their ice cream or milkshakes yet, that?s next on my list!
Simply the best, most delicious donuts. Do yourself a favor and go to Donut Friend! Each Flavor is to die for! The Green Teagan and Sara, H?sker Blue, and the Old Fashioned chocolate topped donuts are my favorite. can't wait to go back!
Got here just as they opened. The Pistachio/Cannoli donut and Apple Fritter both are Amazing. Will definitely be back.
All vegan donuts- I love the simple strawberry donut with whipped cream filling! Yuuuuuummmmmmmmmm I come here every time I visit Pasadena. Forgive me, I forgot to take pictures before cutting into my delicious donut!!
I thought I didn?t like donuts until I tried these. I love the unique flavors (the green Teagan & Sara/ matcha donut is my favorite) & their great selection. Who knew donuts could taste so good! My mind was blown when I found out they were all vegan.
The super cool thing about Donut Friend is you can grab a gluten-free donut and customize the donut with MOST of the options. The gluten-free donut is made without wheat flour BUT made in a kitchen with wheat flour. I've had three gluten-free donuts, and I didn't get sick. You can choose your favorite fillings and toppings. I found a parking lot within one block. The customer service is excellent. They offer ample indoor seating, drinks, and napkins. You may see a line on the weekend, but the line is worth
A must try, the donuts are soft, light, fluffy and delicious. They are not too sweet. Even after a day, it taste great. Highly suggest sharing with friends or family as these donuts are huge and you'll be able to try different flavors without the guilt.
Wow, the reviews don't lie - this spot is great! You wouldn't ever guess the donuts are vegan. All amazing! We got 4 of them on our visit: green Teagan and Sara, custard front drive (with green 'slime' custard for halloween), x-ray speculoos, and caramel on parade. Loved them all - and I'll admit donuts are not even in my top 5 favorite desserts. Also got an iced mocha with oat milk - very good. Great service. Short line out the door during our 3 pm visit on a Saturday and plenty of donuts still available!
I've been to Donut Friend quite a few times and I'm always pleased with the service and donuts. I'm a vegetarian and have a vegan in the family and someone that's allergic to dairy and this place is so amazing for us all to have a delicious treat. We have driven lots of miles to come here because of how delicious the donuts are. We usually get a couple donuts each because the 1st one usually gets eaten so fast, you definitely need a 2nd one,at least. There's usually a line out the door but the efficiency and
There's no question that this is t h e best spot for donuts in LA. AND they're dairy free..You have basically no excuse not to try it. The motion city sandwhich is epic. SO CUSTOMIZABLE. Line moves fairly fast and they are friendly and helpful. I have only ever been to this location, but it's the only one I need. Love you guys ??
Worth the drive to get vegan donuts as there are very limited options in the SF valley. Employees are friendly and ready to help get your order. My favorites are the X-ray Speculoos and the seasonal Senses Fall.
Worth it!!! Delicious food and friendly environment. Parking is limited to street parking in front, so you will most likely have to park else where and walk to the store front. I was able to secure a spot on a fairly busy Saturday afternoon. The donuts here are incredibly creative and delicious with many options. We had 4 people in our group, and every one was able to find something that suited their taste's and/or dietary restrictions! Offering vegan/vegetarian/and gluten free. Most items are by default
Super good value for gourmet donuts. Bonus points because all of them are vegan. Would 100% recommend the creme br?l?e one!!
The donuts here taste amazing! Everything is 100% vegan which makes them even better. Staff were super patient and kind when telling me about each of the different types of donuts they offer. First time coming here and will definitely won't be the last time either.
OMG just had one of the best donuts of my life here in LA at Donut Friend! I got the Polar Berry Club donut and it tastes as good as it looks! The ingredients are so fresh which really makes a difference and everything just tastes wonderful. I've tried a lot of different donut places around LA and this is my favorite!
Only after shoving 4 raised donuts in our mouths, including a maple "bacon" flavor did we realize they were all vegan! Currently my favorite donut shop ever, and I love donuts. We've been back since and tried as many flavors as we could, we can say for certain, theyre masters of the delicate balance of sweetness, not too little not too much. I find most places are cloyingly sweet, making it hard to finish one, donut friend makes theirs so balanced you find it hard to stop at 2.
i'm a new vegan and i haven't had a donut in a while until a friend of mine suggested this place. the fact that they use puns to name their donuts is hilarious. i only wish I knew what i was getting into before ordering a whole dozen lol.
Here?s the deal. The donuts are outrageous. Tender bite, complex flavor profiles and reasonably priced. Also, they?re all vegan! I must admit, I was that annoying customer that asked if ?everything was vegan? i was given looks by the counter servers and other customers waiting in line. But after receiving the go ahead, it was like the gates of donut heaven opened to me! (Yes, i ate all of em!)
OMG incredible and original donuts, great selection, if they do not have your favorite flavor, they will custom make it in front of you. CHOCOLATE FROM THE CRYPT and S'MORRYSSEY are the best of the bunch but they are all generally good, there are also some vegan options. Street parking gets complicated during rush hour or weekends.
Oh wow! So much deliciousness!! And the names of the donuts are very punny!! Delicious donuts friendly staff. Great gourmet dessert treats. Check them out!
You have a round body With a hole at your center. I want to taste you Lick, bite and smell you. When I have you I feel and taste happy. When you are gone I know what I did wrong. Until we meet again, I miss you my Donut Friend. Best vegan donuts that I have ever tasted. My favorite (and only one I've tasted) is the promise ring. It is plain and glazed. I also spice it up with vanilla and maple glaze sometimes. Donuts so good they inspire poetry!
My # favorite donut shop. Im not vegan and love the donuts here. My favorite donut is the xray Spec. It has chocolate and peanutbutter with specs of sea salt. The mint one is a lemon cream with mint and blueberry jam its ok really sugary so if your a fan of jelly donuts try this one. My second favorite is a seasonal one the pumpkin pie ball one. This place is great must try and the prices vary some are $2.50 others can be $4.50. Love love donut friend.
Amazing place. Donuts are huge. Donuts are delicious. Writing this makes me want to go back to buy more. This is not your typical donut store.
the vast majority of donuts you will eat in your life are truly terrible. the donuts at donut friend are pretty decent. however, i grade on a curve, so the donuts at donut friend are heavenly compared to the average donut. if you have only had mediocre donuts before, i would try donut friend. however, i will continue on my quest to find a truly good donut in this godforsaken city. had: - chocolate glazed - old fashioned - lemon poppy overall each well fulfilled their respective roles as common donut arche
Donuts are my absolute favorite treat, and when I went vegan it was a bummer to give them up. But then I discovered Donut Friend and fell in loooove. Not only are the donuts insanely delicious, the staff are always so lovely! My partner and I brought in our own container for the donuts and felt a bit hesitant to ask to use it, but the staff member was so sweet and was happy to use it - and the donuts fit perfectly inside which was so satisfying haha Parking in this are can be a bit tough so I?d recommend pa
I've only been there once but I loved it and I'd love to go there again! The idea of building your own donut is great. I ordered a regular glazed donut and filled it with nutella, bananas and strawberries. The fruit was fresh and the donut itself was delicious ??
Tried a variety of donuts. Friendly staff. Definitely different but worth a try. The mango and polar berry were good. If you prefer simple donuts I would not recommend.
I've been to this place multiple times since 2019. So much variety and tasty donuts. Definitely get there early if you want to try something specific. The donut with cookie butter is my favorite! My mom's favorite (even though she doesn't like sweets that much) is the one with strawberries and cream. This place is far for me, but worth it, so usually I buy a dozen and a box/bag of donut holes on the side??
amazing little donut shop! the donuts were delicious & the staff were so sweet! if you aren?t sure what to get ask the staff! They?ll let you know what?s good, what?s great, and what?s their favorite.
I heard about this vegan donut shop while watching Good Mythical Morning on YouTube. I found the concept awesome and knew I had to make it over when I had the chance. First impressions were positive. The donuts looked great and the service provided to the customers before us seemed pleasant. As soon as it was our turn, however this took a bit of a down turn. Service: The person behind the counter was rushing us through our order. I am usually rather quick with choosing items, but being told to choose the
This place is a must try! As a vegan it is hard to find a donut shop with variety of flavors. Donut Friends donuts are amazingly delicious. Wish Donut Friends opened a location in Dallas.
Such amazing flavors and incredible doughnuts. One of my go- to places in Los Angeles.
Absolute Perfection!!!!!! Employees are very nice... always a great experience! ??????? coffee was delicious I had the pumpkin spice macchiato. My husband bought us 2dz donuts. 1of each ????????
This was my favorite donut place long before I was vegan and I was so stoked to find out that I was still able to have them when I fully transitioned! The vanilla and chocolate whipped cream fillings are amazing and so are the ice creams. The frosting toppings are also good but just make sure you wait for them to harden if they?re too fresh so that way they?re not too messy. ^_^ My favorites are the fudgazzi, the matcha with whipped cream filling added and the apple fritter. You can also add mochi, fruit, a
Best donuts, great price, and friendly staff. Long line, but the staff where fast in attending the crowed in a timely, and friendly manner. Kudos to the staff, great job!!!!
Donut Friend used to be 5 stars because they had gluten free options. Now they don?t. They are not my friend anymore.
Amazing donuts that just so happen to be vegan. Lots of rad flavors that will have you wanting to come back and try more. I recommend ?the angry samoa? and the ?javabreaker? paired with a topo chico. Can?t go wrong with any of them though!
Inspired gourmet donut recipes: Dessert and beyond. Often imitated, never matched.
My favorite donut spot in all of LA. They have creative flavors, play on band and song names for their donuts, and make everything fresh. Creme Brulee, Lazy Somoa, apple fritter, donut holes, everything really...There isn't anything I don't like about Donut Friend! And I just drove by a soon to be new location in DTLA
All donuts are vegan and they also have wheat-less donuts. You can build your own or choose from one of their delicious creations. Pictured are the fritter, smores donut, passion fruit and peanut butter filled donut.
