I hate to admit that I ran out of time to actually get a donut and I will probably burn in hell for it. But I did run upstairs to check out the view and snag some great pics of this sinfully adorable spot in Little Italy, San Diego. I found parking quickly but everyone else wanted satanic snacks at the same time as I did. Next time!! Thanks for existing anyways!! ???? Found this place thanks to the Underground Donut Tour. It?s adorable and the upstairs is comfy and has a fantastic view. I love the thought that went into their website, their donuts are ?fresh as hell? and the hours are ?or until souled out?. I had the cookies and cream donut which they have a strawberry glaze on and makes it taste far more refreshing than other cookies and cream donuts. My wife had the classic chocolate glaze and that tasted like Mexican chocolate on top! Highly recommend this place!

My wife and I had the same experience; guilt over wasted calories. When the food is worth it then I don't care about calories, when it's an overall bad experience then I should have just gone with something else. Here is the issue, we both thought the donuts were completely lacking in taste. You take your first bite and because of the presentation you are someone optimistic. There is the initial "Mmmm... We were excited to get a donut and coffee. We arrived at 11am and happy to still see plenty of donuts in the window so we ordered 2 and 2 coffees and were told since they were getting ready to close they weren?t making any more coffees. We got to the shop around 9:30 and the selection was limited, so go early! We tried a vanilla old fashioned, coconut lime, raspberry whipped, and salted caramel. Absolutely heavenly and eternally delicious each and every time! My favorite thus far have been the guava cream or guava and some sort of relevant exotic tropical concoction....to die for. I always stop here anytime I walk by! They always have a fabulous selection of doughnuts that cater to all taste buds and flavor cravings. The glazes and toppings are the focus here! Delicious yeast and cake donuts as the base, creatively topped/glazed. We tried mango pineapple and blackberry yuzu paired with a Mexican mocha and almond milk matcha... A perfect way to start the day sitting upstairs and watching the bay.

My Homer donut had mold on it. It tasted like it was at least a day old, and I didn't notice the mold until I was more than half way done with it. This is upsetting as I love their donuts normally but when you're charging $3 to $4 a donut, they should be made the morning of or night before. It's disgusting that they're selling donuts that have mold on them.

My wife and I live in Boise and are avid donut enthusiasts that have made it a point to find the best donut in the US. Without question Devils Dozen?s Vanilla Glaze is the best donut on the west coast. I never forget to stop by when I'm in San Diego. It's a must. The donuts tasted amazing. The chocolate and vanilla donuts were fresh out of the oven and glazed which made them taste even better. They had a good selection of donuts that seemed to be constantly replenished. I am only giving 4 stars because of the really long wait time. We waited almost 45 mins in line to get these donuts even though there were at most 8 people in front of us. If they can figure out their wait time, I will definitely come here more often.

I have been to 43 states and this is undoubtedly my favorite donut shop in the country. Their donuts are very fluffy and yeasty, and their coffee is good too. Go for the interesting flavors - brown butter was delicious. They have very kind staff and I have always had quick service, although be prepared for a line on the weekends. I passed by the place daily headed to work, and there was rarely a day that the line wasn't wrapped around the corner. I bought an assorted dozen, and as you can see in the picture they went quickly. My coworkers loved them and we definitely decided these were a must have again. My two favorites were the berry & cream followed by the Nutella stuffed one. I recommend them especially early in the morning.

I spent $6 on two donuts. First bite of the Pistachio tasted of day old oil. It was doughy and had no pistachio flavor. So disappointing. And the chocolate was very dark and wasn?t sweet enough-also doughy. I?m so sad as I was so looking forward to an amazing donut. Maybe they were having an off day. Sigh.

I always thought that the best donuts are in NYC until I visited Devil?s Dozen in Little Italy, SD. This donut shop makes absolutely delicious, flavorful donuts. They have many different kinds for any taste. The coffee was brewed to perfection. I tried only 4 flavors so I will be definitely coming back to get the rest. And keep in mind that you can go up to the rooftop which is very cool stylized area with a spectacular view of the bay.

We tried two old fashioned and two raised varieties. The old fashioned were super dry and tasted like they were at least a day old. The raised were okay, but definitely not great.

Lemon Poppy donut did not disappoint. Full lemon flavor was excellent! The donut itself was moist and delicious. I came for the carmel old fashioned but they were out and the split decusion to get the lemon was a great one.

The way the shop is set up is incredibly inefficient and frustrating to navigate: complicated coffee drinks and only 1 person there to make them + fill donut orders, leads to very long - unnecessary - wait times. It has taken 20 minutes to serve 4 customers, with similarly slow rates on multiple occasions (which is not the employees fault, just a poorly designed setup). The seasonal coffee was delicious. I had the orange cinnamon latte, it was awesome. The sugar cinnamon and vanilla bean doughnuts were delicious. Unfortunately the banana doughnut was not good in my opinion. Everything was very fresh. Plan accordingly because when they run out you have to wait until the next day.

I really wanted to like these more, arrived at 1030 on a Saturday and picked up 4 different cake donuts and two raised filled. We visited here twice on our recent trip to San Diego and fell in love with the donut shop. The donuts and coffee are 5 star and the staff is incredibly friendly and wonderful. We live in Portland, Or and are used to great donuts and these definitely don?t disappoint! Also, they?re much more affordable than Portland donuts which was a huge bonus. They do close early once they sell out for the day but that wasn?t a problem for us because we got up early each morning!

Rate 5 for Ingredients and taste. 1 for service. There is only 1 person taking orders, making coffee drinks and serving donuts. With 5 customers in front of me, it took 35 mins! There is not as high a demand as it seems. The line is due to the wait, not the amount of people ordering. They sell out of the classic flavors early because no one wants to eat their other flavors. There are other specialty donuts in the area so I won't ever go back to wait 35 mins again.

Paying cash left me realizing the workers do a little more than just work for a place called the devils dozen. They refused to give me my change saying ?I don?t give change?. I was dumbfounded, but having bitten into the vanilla glaze donut and all was forgiven. Quaint little donut place. It's easy to miss because it's so small. The selection is good, and I like that it's not the traditional flavors. Part of the fun is trying all the unique flavors they offer. I recommend the blood orange donut. The dough part of the doughnut is like a little pillow -- such a perfect texture. There are some really unique flavors and always something new to try. And the upstairs seating area offers some limited views of the bay. My only complaint is that service can be slow. Usually only one or two people trying to fill orders. The coffee is fine but the donuts are amazing. I had the Tres Leches donuts, it tasted sort of like a donut that was been dipped into a glass of milk like an Oreo. I never thought I would want to try that flavor profile but let me tell you you need to try it.
