Can?t believe it took me almost 7 years to try this place. WOW. The cruller melted in my mouth. My kids loved the pink donuts and my husband said it was the best maple bar he?s ever had. The price was good ? 10 bucks for half dozen. Worth every penny. We will be back. If you like crullers, avoid the crappy dry ones from Safeway and go across the street to this place.

This is the donut shop you remember going to when you were a child. The nostalgia of the neighborhood donut shop is strong with this one. The donuts smell amazing as soon as you walk in. They got your classics and they have some new ones that sport some modern twists. But you don't go to a donut shop like this for a culinary adventure, no, you come here for the familiarity and reliability of what you know, love, and expect. You want a maple bar they got it, an apple fritter got that too, and for my own leve

Made a pitstop to Darren?s Donuts for donuts. Good selection of raised, cake and fancy. Prices are reasonable ($1.75-$3.00 USD). - 1/2 dozen ($12.00 USD) - maple old fashioned, maple French cruller, glazed, apple fritter, lemon and raspberry buttermilks. Glaze was light and airy. Cruller was solid. Apple fritter was decent. Least favourite were the buttermilks. Would return to DD for more donuts.

The donuts are always fresh and melt in your mouth good!! Local owners are so kind and welcoming. Highly recommended! ????????

I love the variety of donuts. These are made fresh every morning, they have the best donuts in Mount Vernon! They have the BEST Boston Cremes.

These are the best donuts in town, every donut is amazing. But the jam and creme filled old fashioned and the maple bacon donuts are a DO NOT MISS. Go. Get donuts here. Take friends.

This place is a local staple! We love grabbing donuts for everything from our Realtor meetings to our first time home buyer classes. The donuts are always fresh and plentiful. The owners are the nicest folks.

Great tasting Donuts, whenever I am in town I make a stop.

The best maple bacon donut. Went back a third time on the weekend and they were sold out by 730. Ham and cheese croissants are tasty as well. Disappointed when we got home and they forgot my son's donut that I know we paid for.

Classic donut shop with all the goodies. Nice family running it.

They only had like three kinds of donuts there and what they had I could have gotten at Safeway so in my opinion it's not a gourmet donut shop a gourmet donut shop should have all different types of donuts stuff you can't get it Safeway.

HORRIBLE! The last time I was here, she gave me the wrong donut, but it was tasty. This time I just bought one and got to the car and it IS NOT IN ANY WAY done! There is absolutely NO crispness to the outside, it is VERY undercooked. I tried to go in and exchange it as I have had donuts here before. Instead of just exchanging it, she argued with me that those are how they all are. None of the others I have EVER got were not done. TWO BAD EXPERIENCES and I'm out. As a customer, I don't like to be ca

This is a weekly stop for my husband. He usually gets a half dozen mixed donuts for the store crew and they are always fresh and delicious! Service is fast too. We love the morning run.

Man , hands down the best crueller I've had in years. And I really search for them. .. hands down.

Great shop, sweet lady. My clients fought over them.

We?re not local, but we?ve been through the area repeatedly over the years and every time we come through it?s a treat to stop by. We?ve started pre-ordering large amounts of donuts and the owners remember us every time even tossing a couple of free ones once in a while, because dad has forgotten to order his favourite and they remembered it ! they truly care and take good care of us thank God you?re back. We can?t wait to come. See you again.

I live in Oak harbor and we drive to Mt Vernon to get these doughnuts. They are fresh and so delicious!! They serve peanut sprinkles topped doughnuts we can't get here in Oak Harbor. The owner is so humble and kind. I give this business a 10 out of 10 Worth the drive!! You won't be disappointed.

The guy here is very rude, won?t even treat you like a human and throws your card on the table

Never coming back! They are horrible with their service. Not friendly or welcoming at all.

This is the best donut in Skagit County. Get a crueller if you like eggy texture. Get something with their chocolate on top. Get your favorite. Get a friend one. Very reasonably priced for superb product. So glad they are back!

Hard worker, great donuts! I had a cruller, A fritter and a raised glazed all for 7 bucks. Nice cashier woman .

The clerck was friendly and the service was fast. I got a sugar donut and it was very good The only issue I had was that the ramp in front of the shop was in a regular parking spot. There was a truck parked in it and therr was barely room for my walker to fit. When I left I saw the ramy in front of the nect store. It was between 2 parking spaces so it wasn't partially blocked. I think not having a visible sign for the ramp is a failing of the shopping center management not the donut shop.

Honestly the best donuts I?ve ever had. I?d recommend traveling out of your way to get their donuts. Seriously they?re so fresh and amazing.

Good doughnuts. Very nice staff.

Darren's is AMAZING!! Very friendly, this family genuinely cares about their customers. The donuts are very fresh and are so delicious. I bring my 2 toddlers here all the time for donut holes and a half dozen of chocolate covered glazed donuts. Occasionally we get there in time on the weekends for the bacon donuts which are worth getting up early for. Gotta check this place out.

We have a new Saturday morning tradition with our grandkids. My husband and I drive to Darren's Donuts and get donuts to share. We cut them up so all the kids get a bite of each one. We tried getting donuts from a different place but quickly found the hour drive was worth it for the quality and amazing selection! Thank you! See you next Saturday!

The crunch style braid that I had was very good. Donut holes were just ok. They were fresh. Nicely glazed, but a little chewy or tough. That's a total nitpick though. And this is only based off a single visit. Might have been just been a little off that day. Braid was perfect. Melt in your mouth.

Good donuts, I got there in the morning so I pick up donuts that were warm and just out of the kitchen. The place need a redecorating though. It is looking really run down which kinda makes it a little uninviting. Ignoring the shops aesthetics however it's a good place for fresh handmade donuts. The plain sugared ones and the maple bars coated in crunched up bacon are my favorites.

Ok, so I've been here twice. The first time was at 8:30. Donuts were fresh and very good. Second time was at 6:45, just after they opened. The donuts were from the previous day that early in the morning, no good. My suggestion is to come after they've been open a few hours. Giving it four stars due to inconsistency. The time they were fresh they were very good.

Great donut shop. If you go in early, your donuts might very well still be warm (yummm). They have a fantastic selection, and every single type of donut they carry, is delicious. They also carry beverages. As long as you wear your mask going in, there's no waiting to enter. Their prices aren't terribly high, but more expensive than I remember donuts being. I believe a friend and I spent just under $20 for a dozen donuts and two strawberry milks. But they were worth every penny. So if your jonesing for donut

I had been running errands all morning finally got home go5 the kids settled and eating finally go to eat my donut out of the dozen i bought and within my first few bites I had the longest stringiest peace of hair go down my throat that I had to pull back up.. I'm done I don't want anymore donuts today... they honestly didn't even look that good to began with but this did it for me.

Donuts was good, but stuffed/bigger sizes of donuts were charging additional cost for half dozen or full dozen donuts box.

So I wanted to find a donut shop in Mt. Vernon since I come up for business weekly and this place popped up. I had the ham and cheese croissant, maple bar and bavarian cream. I originally wanted a maple bacon bar, my favorite, but they were sold out which is a good sign to me. The H/C croissant was large and good value. The taste was pretty good. I wish it would have been warmed up a bit more though. The maple bar was a good size, the dough was light and fluffy and the glaze wasn't to sweet and tasted good.

Best donut place in town!Big downfall...if you're paying with card "$5 card minimum purchase!!!!" So don't forget to bring cash! Who carries cash nowadays anyways? Other than that, place looks decently clean. Some employees look like they're in a good mood sometimes. It wouldn't hurt to smile more and to be more excited about serving the customers sugar! I am gonna rant about sometimes the donuts could be a hit and miss meaning sometimes their made just right and other times its like their drown in grease.

Decent little throwback donut shop. Donuts weren't that fresh, but they were tasty. Prices are very reasonable. Place could use a little bit of a deep clean, but nothing close to a health hazard. All in all I'd probably skip this place and look for something else.

Best crullers around!! These doughnuts are absolutely delectable. They melt in your mouth and i have not had a bad one from this shop. Local goodness. Eat here. You won't regret it.

The glazed old fashioned and twists are really good. Chocolate old fashioned and crumb donuts a close second. The lemon filling is one of stay away from. Owners are nice and donuts are the best dessert ever.....so go here.

I have taken the kids here several times for breakfast and my only complaint up to that point was that the tables and trash box could have been cleaner. However on our most recent visit I purchased a bottled orange juice with my donut. The orange juice did not taste good something was off. Maybe lack of refrigeration for some time? Not spoiled just not good and not expired. I only drank about 1/3 of the small bottle. When I complained, there was Zero effort to satisfy me-the customer. I would expect either

When you pull up to a donut shop at 8am on a Saturday you know fresh donuts await you however you have no idea just how fresh until that first pillowy, sweet like love sensation hits your lips... Wow! THE BEST DONUT EVER! We love teensy, family run donut shops and make a point to seek them out wherever we go. I had a feeling we would find one; call it a gift of middle aged womanhood or years of growing up in the Midwest. I do possess an internal gift, a dowsing stick of sorts that senses 2 types of culinar

Went here on a Sunday morning, which seems to be donut day in our household. So much to choose from. I'm a big cruler fan and although they did have a little more frosting than I'd prefer I've sworn to never complain about a donut. Staff also won't roll their eyes next time when I take .9 seconds to decide what I want.

The typical small family run donut shop, it was a location for the old Winchell's Donut chain (which used to be a division of Denny's Restaurant's). Until just a few months ago, their signage was still in the rounded triangle shape used by Winchell's. It is a small operation that produces good, typical donut offerings at appropriate prices. Apparently they limit donut production, so when they run out - they will close earlier than posted hours.

Not a good experience. The donuts were okay. Nothing special for the prices. The customer service we received could have been much better. Think we will stay with our normal places for donuts.

So sad to be leaving this review and leaving as a long time customer. Use to love their donuts but lately every purchase tastes horribly rancid. Just called to complain and was told ?we just changed our grease?. In that case I am done. If anyone else thought they experienced this ?it is not your imagination?. Rancid grease is BAD for your health.

Apple Fritters were almost as good as my mom used to make. But I'm sure if I was standing right there as they come out of the fryer, get iced, and let sit just long enough so it don't burn your mouth that it would be a very close tie. My mom was a second generation baker so that is an extremely great compliment. Not many can even come close, even Krispy Kreme frwsh out of the fryer comes close. Darren's Donut, keep up the excellent work!

Wonderful local donut shop! Stopped twice - once on our way to Vancouver and once on our way back! Easy on - easy off the highway! Make sure to try their coffee cake crumble donut! Heaven:)

The best crueller, and amazing fritters

The maple bar with bacon on it was good albeit a bit expensive. The coffee is absolutely terrible...brown, hot water...does not go well with donuts or anything. Darren, please improve your coffee!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! When I travel, I always try to find a good local donut shop. I am usually disappointed. Not at Darren's. They are the best donuts I've tasted in several trips over the last 4-6 years.

Love you guys but you need to have more of selection on hand. Today there were only 5 kinds of donuts to chose from at 8AM. I drive down from Bellingham to get donuts our staff meeting... unfortunately I left empty handed today.

Was disappointed in how the quality of the maple bacon donuts has gone way down. I had them in 2016 and they were great. Feels like the love is gone from this food.

They had a variety of donuts filled and unfilled. The apple fritters were smallish, the buttermilk jelly filled were very tasty. The cruelers were exceptional.

Nice little family-owned donut shop case needs to be full by the time the store opens not a big enough selection even at 8 in the morning I think the dad is got the son running it well you know how that goes... donut Friar should start frying Donuts at 3 in the morning to have the case full by 7.. trust me I was a donut fryer at one point.

Prices make you forget you're in 2024. Donut was good. We got maple. Darren is the ??

Very fresh and not way over glazed. Very nice and polite and friendly. Told us which donuts just came out. Thank you for a pleasant experience.

I love this place! Been going in early morning maple bar runs for so long its crazy... The owner slways greets me warmly and makes me feel as if he misses seeing me come in if it's been a while. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.

Awesome donuts and always fresh! My favorite place to go in the area. I highly recommend if donuts are what your looking for ??????????????

I wanted some donuts and didn't want some from a big band store. The service was fast and friendly and even though it was later in the early afternoon the donuts were still delicious!

Delicious donuts and quick service was my experience. Nice variety to choose from as well. Coffee and other beverages too.

It is literally the best place for Darkness it's so good the workers are so nice I've never met someone nicer than the lady that serve does the donuts are actually really high quality and the donuts tasters really really good

Literally the BEST donuts I have ever had. Super soft, fresh, slightly chewy, and utterly amazing.

Donuts are always fresh and delicious, coffee is good, prices are great and Sue is so friendly

Super good donuts! Loved the maple bars. They had a cinnamon roll with crumbs on it that was AMAZING

These are the best doughnuts. It's pretty easy to sit here and eat your whole dozen in one go. Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

Good donuts but they are supposed to be open at 5am during the week and my husband went this morning at 5am and they weren't open.

Great donuts, always fresh just they downgraded the variety of products.

The doughnuts were great the selection was lacking possibly because it was later in the day.

Very small, mediocre service, donuts were ok but nothing special. Only advantage over a grocery store bakery is the option to sit (awkwardly) and eat there.

Whats not to love about donuts? I've gained 15 lbs due to these awesome things. Just wait until you try them.

Lady talks too much unnecessary

I just had the freshest and most delicious maple bar of my life here! Highly recommend them!

Great donuts, they go quick but there is always a new batch coming out of the kitchen.

Darren's is AMAZING and has the BEST customer service!! The donuts are very fresh and are so delicious!

When I asked for a good donut shop in town, every one gave me the address to Darren's. I tried it, and now I'd gave thr same address to anyone who asks for a good one.

Donuts ?? were so fresh and tasty!!! Yummy

Best donuts in town. If you grew up in Kirkland or Bothell, these donuts are just like Countryside Donuts.

You should really change your hours posted on Google if you are going on vacation or going to be closed for a week.

Not having bear claws did not make the wife happy.

So fluffy!!! These donuts are the best in Skagit hands down! They are fluffy and delicious!

Everything is good; just wish they made cinnamon rolls.

Seriously delicious doughnuts. Plus their covid protocols are on point. I felt very safe making my purchase.

Awesome donuts, best donut shop hands down!

The best maple doughnut I've ever had. I also love their tiger tails.

Classic donut shop! Just like I remember when I was a kid. Locally owned and family run. Donuts coffee milk what else do you need?

Place should be called Awesome Donuts. Never would of found this place if it wasn't for a wrong turn but not that I have we will go back.

Not the most friendly service or delightful ambiance, but the donuts are LIT. I like the twisty with chocolate.

Really good doughnuts but $5 min with credit/debit is annoying. Have to buy at least 3 unless you have cash.

Best donuts. All of the ones we've tried we're light and fluffy and perfectly glazed.

Yum! Everything was fresh and very flavorful!!!
