Bought half dozen donuts for a family we?re visiting and grabbed a couple of fritters for ourselves. So light and airy. Could have eaten 10. I don?t know if that?s a good thing. The flavors were creative without being over the top. And the service was friendly and informative. No notes.
Don?t you ever not get a Boston cream anywhere you go! I?d highly suggest Boston cream and PB & J. We got minis because we wanted to try everything and rate them. Cute little donut shop, limited seating but there?s some outside! Not wheelchair accessible. You have to go up a step to get inside (higher step than normal). We parked behind the building in the garage because there wasn?t any parking in front. Near the garage across the little one way road you?ll find some stairs go down them and shop around but
It will make you go back to being a kid in a candy store what can I say! The delicious smell of doughnut greets you as soon as you enter and you see the colorful doughnuts showcased at the counter. No to mention, they?re square doughnuts, and with whimsical flavors! I tired the lavender lemonade and pistachio doughnut and I loved both of them. You can identify all the flavors in each doughnut without a doubt. I will definitely be coming back to fix my sweet tooth at Darling Doughnuts.
Sign read "Voted best donuts by USA Today!" Quite the claim. In I go.. They had a limited selection when I rolled up, about 3pm. Fits their hours, which are 8am - sold out. Managed to snag a bacon covered donut and a couple of the malted chocolate. Bacon donut was your traditional cider donut. Nice flavor, not too sweet but man the bacon really set it off. Malted Chocolate had this chewiness that I've never experienced in a donut. The elasticity was reminiscent of pizza dough. Mmm. Chocolate topping was
I rank these donuts in my top 3 which include Willoughby's Depot Eatery (Formerly Mrs Murphy?s Donuts) in Manchester VT and Randy?s Donuts in L.A. The price for a dozen ($42) is a bit outrageous. If the price was more reasonable, we would likely make this place our go-to for donuts. However, if they can remain busy at this price point, more power to them. Having gotten my ?sticker shock? missive out of the way, I?ll comment on the actual product. The yeast donuts are light and pleasantly spongy. We also
This is a cool place to try a doughnut - although they are expensive they are worth every bite. I picked a coffee flavored one and wish I'd bought a second. The place stays open till they're sold out - then they close for the day. Get there early.
yummy donuts and cool flavors. definitely on the sweet side though and each donut is really frosted up. texture of the donuts are great however!
We finally made it down to try out these doughnuts and they?re so good! The dough is a little sweet, a little bit dense and doughy, but still has nice fluff to it. The frosting is sweet, too, but not too sweet. These definitely are a better quality donut than you?ll find at fast food places, and the prices reflect that. The flavors change, so make sure to check out their Facebook page or website to see what they have.
The donuts are a work of art. They taste good too. The staff is helpful in picking out different options. I like that there are mini donuts available, along with donut holes and large donuts. Lots of variety. A very fresh alternative to a stale Dunkin donut.
While at the chowder fest yesterday in Saratoga. I was able to stop into Darling Doughnuts It was obviously crowded ?? which was to be expected. They were sold out of a lot of their stuff. But I did manage to get a galaxy doughnut, which is vanilla glazed. A mini dunkaroo doughnut for my son. And a homemade raspberry filled pot tart . The galaxy doughnut was delicious. Light and airy not the cake like texture. Real yeast doughnut. My son smashed his dunkaroo doughnut And we split the raspberry pop ta
Darling Doughnuts had to have been the highlight of my Saratoga Springs trip. The only reason I don't rate them 5 stars is the high pricing for the entire menu, which I find hard to be justified due to the already large margins that come with the baked goods business. While spoilage is the reason some bakeries have to raise prices, when Darlings often sells out prices should be lower not higher. Regardless, they offer light and fluffy bases to out of this world frosting that I've never had with any other do
Unfortunately, we visited later in the day and the selections were limited. But what we did have was quite good. We'll be sure to get there earlier, next time we're in the area. (The churro donut was great. A little spice to counter the sweet)
Absolutely delicious and many compliments about them from the guests at my son's reception this past Saturday. Beautiful display as well. Highly recommend this fun alternative to the traditional wedding cake.
Date of visit: Sat July 8th Whenever we travel, We always make a sweet roguetrip a part of our itinerary. we are always on the look out for unique shops making creative doughnuts. In Saratoga Springs we came across Darling Doughnuts. This is a darling little doughnut shop. Their doughnuts are square shape, and presented beautifully in the showcase. They have a number of unique and very creative flavours that will make it hard to choose. We ended up choosing too many as a result. We tried PopTart, churro, du
I?ve gone to Saratoga springs 3x. The first two times i didn?t get to Darling Doughnuts in time and they donuts were all sold out. Finally the third times the charm and i was able to snag the galaxy, churro, lemon bar and pizza. They were all so delectable. The churro was very good on sweetness and was light and fluffy with a hint of spice. The pizza gave me the likes of a garlic knot with marinara. The galaxy was delicious tasted like a glazed donuts. But i was not able to try the lemon bar as my family sn
Darling Doughnuts is our favorite local company. Their absolutely delicious and the kindest people. We love you guys!
My new favorite doughnut shop. There's so much variety I want to come back and try the entire menu, but we tried the Boston cream, churro, and coffee Heath bar crunch doughnuts. The doughnuts are so yeasty and fluffy that they spring back perfectly but they don't taste overwhelmingly yeasty. I can't wait to come back and try new flavors.
Love!! Great donuts and a wonderful friendly staff.
Copped a dozen doughnuts, they were good.Im not sure I would visit again the price is little crazy, the staff was friendly.
I was so excited to find this shop, walking around downtown Saratoga I spotted them and the person who was carrying them was kind enough to guide me. When I stepped inside I was amazed, very beautiful looking shop, amazing looking donuts, and the staff was great. Despite this I have to give three stars. The experience is what earned each of those stars. The moment I bit into the donuts I got I was disappointed. They looked great, and I?m not sure if it was the day I went but every single donuts dough taste
We visited in late August and one morning decided to try Darling Doughnuts. I got there twenty minutes early and the line was already at Putnam's (about four doors down). Totally worth every minute I stood in line! These doughnuts are homemade and absolutely outstanding and works of art! Darling Doughnuts outgrew their shop almost before they opened the doors (you guys are gonna need a bigger kitchen)! We wish you the best of success always and we will be back!
The base of each donut is the same, a well tasting yeasty dough. The toppings change weekly and sell out quickly. Even showing up at 10am has a limited selection. The toppings are going to be hit or miss depending on your taste buds. All of the ones I got were on the sweeter side. I particularly enjoyed the churro, with a hint of spice in it which really rounded out the flavor. The butter pecan were particularly buttery and smooth. The cinnamon roll was simple in comparison, but still good with chunks of c
So figured I'd give this place a try with all the hype that I've been hearing and seeing. Sad to say that these things are way overpriced way to spongy. Sorry but Dunkin donuts or maybe a grocery store donut would have been a lot better than these.,$20 for four donuts no thanks sorry but I'm going to dunkin.
These were SO GOOD! The store is adorable, staff is friendly and doughnuts are amazing. We got a box of minis in every flavor. They have great social media presence and are always switching up their flavors and adding seasonal favorites to the menu. Can?t wait to go back!
Friday the 22nd at about 3:45PM I brought my daughter in to buy some after school donuts. She was sooo excited to get donuts and was trying her best to make an order with your worker. We were the only ones in there. The young lady working the counter acted like it was the hardest thing in the world to look at us or interact with us. Really made us feel like we were not welcome there. Not how things should work. And this was not the young lady who is deaf (who happens to be lovely).
I gave Darling Donuts a try based on the rave reviews. Don?t waste your money, overpriced for the quality! Took one bite of each donut flavor (strawberry, cherry and apple filled) and couldn?t stomach more than that. They truly lacked every element of what makes a great donut. I think Hannaford/grocery store/Dunkin donuts are more palatable than these.
The donuts were good, but I tried telling the guy wiping down an adjacent counter there was a ?bee? (wasp) in the case crawling all over the donuts. He casually proceeds to tell me that it was bee season in Saratoga and that they go away in a few weeks. I live in Saratoga and customers don?t care to what extent insects are crawling on the food? just that they are. However, the girl at the register was very nice.
These are LITERALLY the best doughnuts I've ever had!! They are 4.50 so be prepared to spend a little bit when I say they are worth it I mean it!! That's about a breakfast sandwich anyway!!! There are so many flavors we got 4 it was 18.50 but I WOULD BUY EVERY DAY!! They are only open til they run out so get there early!!
As a west coast guy, I'm used to freshly made on the premises donuts, not from a chain. That's not the rule in the east. Darling donuts is an oasis in the desert. A great yeasty flavor in a soft and yeasty donut. Great flavors on the icing. The strawberry is a must have. The milk is from Battenkill Dairy, the best in the state. Their commitment to excellence shows up in everything they do. I'll say they have the best donuts on the east coast (apologies to the donut pub in NYC). If you're in the ar
So quaint little donut and coffee spots right in the heart of Saratoga springs. They're donuts are super unique, square-shaped, with just amazing toppings and flavors. If you're ever in the area it's worth checking out
i was just trying to look at what donuts they have when the employee came in, waiting for me to order, no greeting or anything. i was thinking like whatever maybe the worker is tired. she seemed like she kept on waiting for me to order, so i just smiled at her and said that i was just looking at the donuts they had. she kept on staring at me like im an alien or smth and said nothing to me the whole time. i felt uncomfortable ordering after that interaction and ended up leaving, not like there was much selec
Best doughnuts ever!! So light and airy. Just delicious! The employees were so friendly as well. My cappuccino was not sweet enough for my taste. Will absolutely go back for doughnuts though!
We were treated to an awesome selection of Darling Donuts at our Office in Midtown Manhattan. It was a frenzy as we all descended on the pantry for a taste. Now I feel like making a trip to Saratoga Springs just to get another batch! So delicious. I loved the Boston Creams, Vanilla and the Cheesecake - yes, I had 3! Very Yummy.
Great donut & more shop! Everytime I?m in town I stop in. Can?t go wrong with any of their donuts.
I have enjoyed the delicious donuts here a few times, but what prompted me to write this review now is how Natascha went above and beyond in regards to my son's peanut allergy. I registered both my sons for a kids donut decorating class and then followed up with an email letting her know that one of my sons has a peanut allergy and asked some questions about the decorating class in reference to peanut products. Natascha responded quickly with more knowledge and compassion about food allergies than I ever
We go frequently to get our favorite flavors...Boston Cream is as good as it gets, and the Churros are always awesome. The flavors change regularly so some weeks the selection is right up my alley and other weeks not. They do cost a lot, but most of the time it's well worth it. They also sell out later in the day and sometimes don't have much. But that's nothing different than Dunkin or other donut shops, so I can't complain too much. Definitely recommend coming to try it out!
Yummy donut shop! We got the lemon honey fritter & churro mini donut.
Fruity pebbles doughnut was delicious, had to scrape off some of the frosting because it was overkill, but I'd rather have too much than not enough. This place is great!
Unique and delicious! I got 9 types of square donuts, super fun try them all. Prices are very Inexpensive compared to any quality bakery.... So many cheapskates posting, smh. You can Not visit Saratoga without stopping here!!
Closes at 6PM, but might not have any doughnuts left by 4PM. First time trying this location and I was hoping for a similar experience that I got from 518Doughnuts, which has sadly shut down. I was not so lucky. Walking in at 3:58PM I found the shelves to be barren with nary a few doughnuts of the same variety left over. I had been excited to try the new flavors I read up about on their website, and all they had was the Cafe Latte which was the least of the bunch I was trilled for. But I thought they have
Hyperbole- hyperbole-hyperbole. Whether it be Cooperstown, Saratoga or any other tourist town there is never a shortage of locally generated exaggeration. The positives: Homemade donuts (not a chain). The Negatives: These are not the best donuts in the USA as the latest over statement, of some, claims, in fact they are not even the best donuts in town. Since it is a local business I hope EVERYONE tries them for themselves and decides. Did I mention hyperbole?
The fluffiest, freshest donuts I have ever had. Unique flavors every week- my new special treat. Reasonably priced specialty donuts.
Absolutely delicious donuts! Cinnamon roll is to die for!
We got six donuts here and all the flavors were great! Death Wish Coffee was everyone's favorite I think.
In the heart of Saratoga lies a Broadway treat: Darling Donuts, where hope and sweetness meet. From the break of dawn, 'neath the baker's careful hand, Are crafted rings of delight, the finest in the land. With patience they mix, and knead the tender dough, A labor of love, as the early morning glow. Frying golden circles, in their simple, humble shop, Where the scent of sweet enchantment, never seems to stop. Icing swirls like art, sprinkles fall like rain, Each a unique masterpiece, made with tender car
Heard people rave about this place for a while, so I decided to check it out. Arrived around 30 minutes after opening and most of the doughnuts weren?t available yet. Waited about 10 minutes for the cookies and cream doughnut. Honestly? Extremely overrated. Tasted on par with Dunkin. Toppings were a lot slimmer than what I saw on the website. Couldn?t taste much other than sugar. The employees were very polite and apologetic that I had to wait.
The first thing you're greeted with is a slap of piss smell. It literally smelled like the subway in NYC. We went here around 5 p.m., and they only had around 5 or fewer flavors. The donuts tasted like regular fried biscuits you can make at home, and not in a good way. Didn't even finish the donut. We just threw it out, a waste of money.
Best doughnuts I've ever had in my life... Boston Cream, Charlotte, Cheesecake and Dunkaroo were Phenomenal. So soft and fluffy! Also I've never had a Boston cream that was actually filled like these were... not excessive but cream in every bite. This place did not disappoint!
I very rarely eat doughnuts but under no circumstances could I pass these up! Not only are they beautiful, but they are absolutely the best doughnuts I?ve ever had! My coffee was also delicious! Treat yourself and enjoy!
Did not meet expectations. Read this review with caution though because we came toward the end of the day (late afternoon). The donuts tasted a bit chemically and very stale. It may have been the flavor we got, but the taste just struck me wrong. Cool place though and cool flavor concepts. Would def try it again and get a different flavor at the beginning of the day.
SO SO GOOD!!!!! We bought a dozen so we could sample a few of them. The dough was the perfect consistency and the varieties were creative and beautifully decorated; It was like coming home with a box of edible art. Completely worth the wait in line and we're so happy to have Darling Doughnuts in Saratoga.
Well worth the drive from out of town, after trying to get there before they sold out for months previously. The base donut itself is wonderfully textured, slightly chewier than the usual yeasted donut and has great bite. The Churro flavor is delightful which is a surprise because I usually can't stand cinnamon while my boyfriend loves it, but it suited us both with the flavor. The only issue we had was the toppings on the Honey Bunches being extremely stale-feeling and tasting, which shouldn't be an issu
I absolutely love these donuts. They are really good! My only complaint is that we came to the shop and the donuts sold out in Olin afternoon. Over all, it?s a lovely spot in a fun area with delicious donuts.
Payed 27$ for 6 Donuts. Donuts all the same. Not worth the money. Boston cream tasted like a lemon donut and a cookie donut didn?t come with the cookie like the ones in the front of the case.
We get donuts here twice maybe three times per month, they?re really that good. They sell out early so it?s better to go as soon as they open for best selection and fresh flavor. If you check their insta you can see the flavors of the week. We are big fans of Blintz and Boston Creme.
I don?t often write reviews, mainly because there are few things I care enough about to publicly praise. However, Darling Donuts is a local treasure and I just have to let them, and everyone else, know. I don?t eat a lot of sweets but I do love a good donut and being from North Carolina, I grew up eating Krispy Kremes (a.k.a. the king of all donuts). Darling Donuts has two things in common with Krispy Kreme - they make yeast donuts (the only donut that matters as far as I?m concerned) and they are delicious
Doughnuts were very flavorful and sweet! We got the napoleon and chocolate bomb - both very good. Definitely heavy so if you?re not a sweet tooth I would maybe split with someone
Maybe we came during an "off day or time", but there were literally two different donuts to choose from- regular or boston cream. Although somewhat large in size- the flavor was more like eating a lightly glazed piece of bread, not to mention it was more than $4 per donut ..... I would have to say- NOT worth it. The store inside was pretty cute- VERY sparse in decor and merch. Hi Owner: Your attitudinal response is not very proper- and your excuses don't suffice--- make sure you have supplies that last for
Absolutely fantastic doughnuts with great flavor combinations! Every flavor is bold and definitive and they look amazing. I get in line early and happily munch one on my walk home! You will not be disappointed!
I don?t see how Darling Doughnuts could have less than 5 stars. Have you ever bit into something so magical you?re taken to another world or galaxy? Bc that?s actually what a darling doughnut is like, OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. I?ve never had a doughnut that tasted as delicious as it is beautiful and that?s what you get here. Eye candy AND dessert. The lines are long but worth the wait and if you get to the counter and they?ve sold out don?t worry they?re making fresh fritters for those of us who can?t show up e
Really great takes on classic flavors. They really don't try to reinvent anything, but at the same time they don't over simplify the flavors they are creating. Their icing is a perfect consistency, and their dough is amazing! I recommend this place if you can beat the line and they aren't sold out!
Some of the best doughnuts I?ve ever had! Coffee was amazing as well and the customer service was also great. :) it is a bit more expensive than your average doughnut but it?s also much better than an average doughnut and so worth it in my opinion.
I came here because my friends said they were amazing. After looking at what they were making for the week I was excited to try some of the different flavors they had to offer, we got there a quarter after 9 and we had to wait for about 30 minutes in line. We get inside and they were basically sold out of all the flavors. I was disappointed and wasn't going to get anything except my friend convinced me to try 1 thing so I tried the black raspberry bites (i only bought 2 and it cost me 5 dollars). Wasn't bad
These donuts are the best i?ve had in the area, I live a half hour away but its worth the drive up. My favorite was the cannoli filled, but i?ve never had a donut i?ve disliked from them so far They do sell out as the day goes on so get there early to pick what you want
Absolutely amazing. The best doughnuts I?ve had in years. Worth the visit. Inventive, unique and delicious. I wish they had jelly doughnuts all the time because they are incredible and unforgettable.
i moved a few hours away and couldn?t be with my mom this mother?s day. i scheduled a grubhub delivery to be sent to her this morning and requested that they write this note for her. i couldn?t tell you how happy this made my mother and i!! to the employee that did this - THANK YOU! my mom said they were the best doughnuts she?s ever had :)
Greasy donuts. That taste like fried dough. The ones I ate I felt they did not drain the oil and the grease at the bottom of the box was surprising
Donuts were okay, didn't taste very fresh. The signs were in the wrong spots in the display. Prices are expensive, but unfortunately that's the norm in Saratoga. Clerk was friendly.
The atmosphere of the shop & people that work here are both fantastic. They did a great job of managing a crowd while also staying true to their posted patron limitations (5 in store at a time due to covid.) 10/10 for that! We got in a bit late for a Saturday, so the selection was limited, but that wasn?t a total bummer because they still had some flavors that we wanted to try so #winning. Now for the doughnut review: I had been stalking the shops site for weeks and desperately wanted to try their doughnu
staff are the absolute sweet people ever! doughnuts are the best!, fluffy, sweet, and always fresh. truly a bang for your buck! if not coming in for the delicious doughnuts, stop by and get a drink to support this amazing staff!
The BEST donuts in the area, great coffee.
Darling Doughnuts have the most beautiful and unique yeast risen doughnuts and is a wonderful addition to downtown Saratoga Springs. We always get a dozen large doughnuts and cut them in 1/4?s so everyone can sample each of the choices that change every week.
The toppings are decent, but not excellent, and the donuts are really not special enough to warrant the cost. Krispy Kreme, although not around here, are silky and light and are reasonably priced. Yes, a chain, amd I would rather support local, but the taste has to also be there.
Donuts were alright, nothing great. Overpriced somewhat, and the person serving us wasn't very friendly nor patient. It happens, but this was my opinion.
Downtown Saratoga, amazing donuts, and great service.
Gonna get right to the point here. Great donuts. Always. But today I had the cereal donut. As I hit bit into it...something changed in me. I saw everything that ever was and ever will be. My very definition of food has been changed. I will tell tales of this donut to my grandchildren. 10/10
Got a Churro donut, which was delicious! They have a nice variety of doughnut flavors, however they are a bit expensive. A nice treat for an occasion but a bit too expensive to get it frequently
So many bees. Bees on the donuts on the counters. Bees in the bakery case. I felt like I was going insane because no one else seemed to take notice of all the bees. Legitimately 10-15 bees flying around the store when we walked in. Are the bees paid actors?
Dough I never tasted before, it?s above amazing
Cute shop and delicious doughnuts! Love the various sizes. Highly recommend the coffee cake doughnut (the galaxy glaze was also great).
Donuts are good but way overhyped. No comparison to donuts from NYC. Not the most pleasant staff. Thank you would be nice to say to customers, especially after you leave a tip.
Some of the best donuts I've ever had! I've never had a bad donut from them! Always unique, but yet so tasty!! ??????
Delicious and unique donuts that change up flavors weekly. Super fun place! Highly recommend when you visit Saratoga.
Great and fun donuts. Only open Wednesday through Sunday and they sell out early.
The best donuts ever ! They are nice and airy and the flavors change , my favorite is the galaxy glazed
These doughnuts are worth the drive everytime, I wish the pricing for little ones matched better with full size but otherwise these are one of the best places to get doughnuts in the capital region
It?s evident that their fryer oil needs to be changed. Donuts and donut holes taste of stale oil. Shame, because that is Doughnuts 101.
You'll pay a premium here, but man oh man is it worth it. The icings are absolutely decadent, and do not disappoint. I've been there several times, and will keep going back for more
