We stumbled upon this place when our "usual place" up the road was closed (which is a bummer, when you promise your granddaughter there will be snow cones across the ferry in Bolivar). It was great! We really enjoyed our ice cream. Service was fast. And the people were nice. Even dog friendly! Thanks for saving Obi!
My family is visiting Crystal Beach. I picked up some glazed & chocolate donuts this morning. The ladies looked a little miserable this morning. But donuts were yummy! I recommend to visitors.
Kim gave me a ride to the port and his family owns this donut shop. They have many types of donuts to choose from and highly recommend them. Give them a try. (He was on his way back from the hotel I was staying at and he helped me out to get back to the port.) Thanks.
Ordered breakfast tacos for my work crew. They were pre-made and reheated and sold, as the employee so stupidly admitted to.
Stopped for a quick snack and coffee fix. The donuts were good--small, but so was the price. The coffee was meh, but also inexpensive. We had a beautiful, sunny day to eat on the picnic table outside, and that was very nice.
Donuts were ok. Breakfast burritos were awful. The birds seemed to enjoy it when I tossed to the Seagulls.
Dannay?s Donuts was underwhelming, unfortunately. I was expecting a great small town donut shop with delicious donuts but instead the items were mislabeled underneath the donuts and the woman taking the order wasn?t understanding. The donuts weren?t great.
5 star donuts !! Thank you for being the only fire place on crystal beach !! Fire donuts and kolaches and sausage egg and cheese biscuits !! Awesome place and people will comeback ???? if you?re in town stop by for your breakfast ????
Good products and pricing. A little excitement when leaving. Photo taken on deck right outside entrance.
Best donuts kolatchies just the best everything. Wish they had one up here where I lived. We go here every time we go.
This place is amazing ?? Stopped in and got a bunch of amazing donuts and kolachs. What a selection!
Donuts were fresh and delicious. The customer service was excellent. I took a photo of the shrimp Poboy because it exceeded my expectations with all flavors in it. I?ll remember this donut shop whenever I?m visiting the area again.
Very clean and very friendly staff. They had variety and plenty of baked goods to sell
This place is a little rough. The donuts were good. The servers would rather I drove by. Bathroom is out of order (yes that is a problem) Sure wish places would take care of their customers.
The donuts are amazing and so are the people working there loved it there
At 4:30 a.m there?s no reason why the 4 jumbo kolaches I got should be cold and bread hard as a brick. This is the only doughnut place I have ever gotten cold and hard breakfast at opening time.
Was there early 8:30am and the sausage and cheese pig in a blanket. Was like cooked cardboard. Very dry tasted old. Donuts looked good but I did not try.
I will NEVER go and eat here. I have a medical service dog and they refused my business because I wasn?t blind. I asked them to learn the laws and they told they didn?t care I couldn?t come in and order! Do better and learn the law!
Good prices.... 3 Kolaches, 2 donuts, less than 9 bucks. Can't beat that. You want better? Wait the hour + to take the ferry over to Galveston. Folks giving poor reviews.. chuckle chuckle. Bolivar is a quiet off the beaten path place.. not high-cotton kinds of service or atmosphere expected. :) Keep up the good work y'all!! Oh, and the staff members are super-friendly.
The young lady who ?helped? us was extremely rude. My husband and I told her one second please as we looked to see what was available. She ruffed and sighed. Then she looks at me and rolls her eyes. We are not from Crystal Beach so we won?t be back but man someone else needs to open up a donut shop down here
Normally we love this place but we tried to get a dozen Kolaches and they had a horrible rotten Chemical taste. They called and they said to bring back however when I got back with the kolaches they treated me as if I was stupid and tried to say it is the butter and they have been there for 34 years and never had this complaint before and continued to say it as I said I understand it just happens sometimes. I was going to just get them replaced and get something else but I got my refund and left. Sadly prob
The staff was pleasant and personable. The interior was somewhat lackluster with minimal seating arrangements. The coffee was not very good. The food we got was great though! Definatly a place place to drop by after night at the beach, I would use the drive through though.
Service was decent. It was very hot inside. The ham coloches was basically a big piece of bread with one small rolled up piece of ham and cheese. We took 2 bites of the strawberry and cream pastry and threw it away.
We had breakfast here, and unfortunately, it was not what we had hoped. The donuts were very dry, as were the kolaches. These are not "dry" item foods, and that was a first experience for me. I gave it two stars because the prices were fair. I hope you take this review into consideration, being that you're about the only donut place on the Peninsula.
I have LOVED Dannay's Donuts for about 26 years! I think they have the freshest baked Donuts over any dunkin' Donuts, Shiply's or Krispy Cream franchises! They're THE BEST!
If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I was denied access and service today because of my Service dog, Staff needs to be educated better. It's against ADA Law To deny a Service animal despite the pet policy. ADA overrules Store policy. Please read the ADA law, was very wrong for this. I really hope y'all educate y'all's self & learn, I wish for this not to happen to another Service dog team. Absolutely ridiculous and disgusting at the same time. Please educate yourself!!!!
We love eating breakfast here when we're on the peninsula. Good price and good food. They also have a drive thru which is cool
Solid breakfast option out here, especially on a budget
GO HERE NOW!!! Their donuts when we visited were the best we have had in a decade, and we have had donuts all over the country and in Canada too. Their glazed cake donuts were perfection. The insides had the right amount of texture and were just moist enough. The outsides were glazed exactly right. AND, when we were finished, our fingers were not greasy at all. I then had a traditional chocolate glazed donut. While it was an hour or so old, I had no complaints. There was not an extra drop of grease. The c
Walked in the place smells awful, they had limited donut options, the glazed donuts tasted like they had been made a week ago, and the cashier appeared that we were inconveniencing her by spending our money on her mediocre products. Unfortunately they will remain in business because this is a tourist area, and people like me will walk in blind, just looking to feed the family.
went to Dannay's Donuts the morning we were leaving crystal beach. Donuts literally tasted like cardboard that went through the dishwasher. The kolaches were too long for my liking and also tasted dry and hard, too hard to bite through for my sensitive little teeth. the coffee smelt like old people sneezed in it and then coughed in it. the food tasted like it had been sitting in the cabinet for a week, and it was not fresh as we watched them put it in the microwave. it was also very hot inside and there wer
Went to Dannay?s this morning and it was packed. We grabbed some old fashioned donuts, sprinkled donuts, sausage and cheese kolaches and some coffee. Though the food was good, the experience wasn?t the best. We felt the employees rushed us to select what we wanted and to pay quickly. Prices weren?t too bad either.
I ordered a dozen donuts and 2 large sausage cheese kolachies . I got what I paid for very quickly and friendly! The donuts were a little smaller than other donut shops but they were delicious. The 2 kolachies we're warm and also very delicious. I will be going back !
After waiting in the drive thru for 15 minutes, the food was terrible! Got back to the beach house and they didn't give us our donut holes and gave us the wrong kind of taco. The glazed donut tasted not like any donut I've ever had and croissant sandwich was nasty. Not the local fresh experience we were hoping for. Definitely didn't real eggs. Won't be back.
Not sure why the bad reviews, grabbed 2 croissant, donuts and a bag of donut holes this morning. All was as expected, this isn't a Shipley's or major brand but the food was exactly what I expected it to be. Will likely be back while we are visiting! Sorry no pics, ate it all before we realized we didn't take a photo...
I have never written a review but their tacos had me 1st degree offended. They were cold and tasted absolutely horrendous. I'm really not sure that they're edible. Cannot speak for anything else on the menu or nor will I ever, since I will never step an inch from that place.
Don?t go there! Get gas station donuts. At least they will be sanitary. This is a very dirty and unkept place. I can?t imagine what their kitchen looks like. This is the dirtiest place. I would expect this in an urban intercity, but not here. The owners must be oblivious to how customers perceive their business. The donuts were mediocre also.
I don?t understand why they serve cold breakfast sandwiches at 8am. They tried to heat my order in the microwave. I asked them if it was fresh and they said it is and they were just warming it up. I asked for them not to warm up cuz I?ll be eating at home. Got home and found they were all cold and tasted not that great. Also notice all local guides are giving it great reviews. Unbelievable.
Great food, great prices and great service. What more do you want. Advise: Get there early. The crowds are coming. People write about being rushed by servers or it taking too long to be served. ???really?? Relax, your at the beach with soon to be bag of DONUTS!
We stop at Dannay's at least once a visit whenever we are on the Peninsula. The donuts are fantastic, as are the breakfast sandwiches and kolicies. Definitely recommend!
I will LITERALLY eat anything. Its a problem. Problem solved by the breakfast tacos at Dannay's! The glue-like tortillas are difficult to choke down while the portion of American cheese slice on the taco hardens. I don't know how they get eggs to look like that. And undercooked bacon tops the culinary combo. I had no idea breakfast tacos could be this bad. I am now enlightened and a few calories fewer for the morning. I'm sure I will make those up later in the day...
Prices were decent for the donuts and sandwiches. The glazed and iced donuts are a bit smaller than usual. It was busy when we went. There is a $5 minimum for cards, so bring cash if you?re only getting a couple donuts.
Had a great breakfast of doughnuts and kolaches after our camping on the beach didn't go as planned. Made the trip much better having a tasty breakfast to start the day.
Went in to get a Kolache only to find out they don't have Kolaches. What they call a Kolache is really a "Pig in a blanket" or the correct term Kielbasa. A Kolache is a fruit filled pastry. I wish donut places would stop doing this. However, what I got instead was great.
These were wonderful, yummy and fluffy donuts. We tried filled donuts, strawberry, pineapple and Bavarian cream. All very good, but Bavarian beat the others by far.. service was helpful..
A quick bite for a good breakfast
Delicious! Best donuts in Crystal Beach! They also happen to have the best Daiquiris and Frozen Margaritas to go next door @ Bustalime Premium Frozen Drinks.
This place is amazing!! Everything was soooo good!! Especially the bacon egg and cheese croissant.. the jumbo kolaches are great! Would love one in San Antonio. Tx ??
Has delicious and fluffy doughnuts but breakfast sandwiches were disappointing and salty. The breakfast taco was confusing, it was filled with chicken instead of egg and breakfast meat. We went back for the doughnuts.
worst kolaches ever. idk about the other food but I got ripped of
Im am sure this place has had better days but when i went, the line was around the building and took forever(45 min) some may think that i was dumb for waiting but when i got there i got locked into the line with no way out. The food was ok though, it aint Shipley's i can tell you that, avarge Cambodian donut store. It is the only one on boliver so beggers cant be chosers.
Quick in and out but no chocolate filled donuts was a disappointment but the glazed ones were ok
Where to start....well, when I first entered the store, it was very musty smelling like a moldy shoe. The woman behind the counter was rude af, so I turned around and walked out and headed to our favorite donut shop in Galveston. Pro tip, when you are in a service industry, you should be kind and respectful to people who give you money for your products despite the fact you are having a crummy day making donuts or hungover.
I tried to come in with my service dog and got shunned for being present. They have a sign up that says that they are service dog friendly, however, they are not.
This establishment had nothing as advertised, such as burgers or tacos. When we asked for donuts, we got a rude, "we don't have donuts, just cakes". They are round looking, just like donuts, but were called cakes. We had no choice but to buy "cakes" because that was "all they have right now". I went to use the restroom and it was filthy; urine stains on the seat and floor. I gave a two star because the donuts, oh I'm sorry the cakes, were ok. My children did not like them. Never again.
Good donuts and sausage kolache's!! Just a little smaller than what we are spoiled to at home. But considering how PACKED they were, they still had what we wanted and service was GREAT!! Happy they were opened as late as they were even on a Sunday!
Their cake donuts are the softest, sweetest, most delicious donuts I've ever had. While Krispy Kreme still rates #1, I'd say Dannay's cake donuts brings them to a close second!
And this folks is why monopolies are a problem. I agree with the other reviews here, the donuts and kolaches were terrible. The employees (maybe owner?) was very curt and like the other reviewer said "they think they're doing you a favor." Tomorrow morning we will give Third Coast Coffee Cafe a shot since we will not be coming back here.
Have no idea how this place has 4 stars. Like others have mentioned there were flies everywhere during our visit! Place is very very dirty, tables had bugs on them definitely looks like they don?t ever clean this place. Won?t be going back.
Dirty restrooms Place had lots of flies inside of the establishment One landed on my kolache (I dined in) So I went to return it, they promptly did and instead of trashing the contaminated item they put it back with the rest of them. YUCK! I trashed the new to me kolache and promptly left I would never go back
We make sure to stop here every year when we make our Crystal Beach trip. Good donuts and other items offered as well. Convenient access from the beach side for those using carts.
Thus little do-nut shop "ROCKS " especially when you wake up on Crystal Beach staving from the night before... I love Boliver!!! Happy Spring Break peeps! I love you ?just like Jesus does!!!
Sooooo good!! Their food is awesome and so reasonably priced it?s the perfect place to take a big family! Love this place! We have eaten there 2 days and will eat there at least once every day of our vacation! Nummy!
It would be nice if the food quality was alottle better to match the price
This restaurant wouldn't allow service dogs. They made my daughter cry because she has service dog. They told her she had to leave or they wouldn't serve us.
Wonderful selection of donuts and kolaces
Not just donuts they also had kolaches and large croissants. bought bacon egg and cheese. Very delicious.
The donuts were very good, the lemon filled didn't have enough of a lemon flavor and was very sweet. They have a variety of breakfast sandwiches, all were good.
Seems to be one of the few places to grab breakfast on Crystal Beach. It was not bad but nothing special either, your run-of-the-mill TX doughnut joint. Though they did have boudin kolaches which was new.
Best donuts and kolaches on the peninsula. I love waking up in the morning and going and getting these for my family while they sleep. The look on their face when they wake up to donuts and kolaches from Dannay's is priceless.
First-time customer and really appreciated their patience in my lack of ordering skills. The donuts were delicious however the breakfast tacos were just average
For where it is, I rate this place highly. Very good. 9 bucks to feed 4 folks. Kolaches were good.
Ok this place is great for when you wake up on the beach really hungover and you need some food in the tank but... If you just need a quick bite in the morning before you go to work nah the donuts icing taste like nail polish and kinda old ??
I spent practically fifty dollars with this place Nothing I wanted was in the bag The lady at the window never wrote down our order And that's why it was all wrong
Not everyone eats pork. You should have meatless options for sandwiches.
Bacon egg and cheese had great taste and biscuit was just right. It wasn't to soft or hard. The cinnamon donut was fresh.
Great donuts and breakfast sandwiches. People were friendly and the prices were normal. They weren't jacked up prices like you normally find on the island...
I have been to this location on several occasions. If you want donuts wait an hour after they open. 2 times in 2 months i have gone in at 5am and no donuts. What a concept a donut shop with no donuts!
Donuts were fresh! Kolaches were huge! Thank yall! We will get some next time too!
Not as fresh as we were expecting. They were closed unexpectedly the day before... maybe that explains it.
Terrible attitudes, because they think they're doing you a favor, being the only donuts in town. Not worth it. Tacos are terrible and donuts are heavy.
I've been going to dannays for a few years and they're never short of great, their donuts are great and so are the kolaches, one of my favorite places on the peninsula.
Best donuts I've ever been bought at the beach LOL
Delicious donuts....a sweet oasis on a hot summer day.
They were really fresh just melted in my mouth one of the best I ever eat
While vacationing on Crystal Beach, we bought donuts at Dannay Donuts, and they were delicious. The blueberry donuts were the best ever!
A Crystal Beach staple. Kolaches are amazing. Try the cream cheese croissants- you won't regret it!
