Colonial Donuts has been an Oakland Gem since forever! ?? One of the places in town that is a must-try! I've been coming here since high school, which was 20 years ago, the staff are super friendly and very kind. I usually get the donut holes, maple bacon, filled bars, and filled French Cruller. They are made fresh daily. They're the best donuts in town! ??

Yummy donuts, great variety, fast service, expensive prices. We were lucky found parking in front. Pricey but worth it if you want a great donut. Unusual selection. Highly recommend.

i love this place. they are ALWAYS open. true 24/7. they have a large variety of donuts and drinks, all very cheap and reasonable. i try to visit whenever i can even though i live pretty far away. 24/7 places are super rare in the bay area! its more of a place to pick up a donut rather than stay and eat, but it works well for them. highly recommend

Colonial had a great selection of local donuts and pastries at a reasonable price! As someone who used to live in Chicago, where the coffee and donut selection is outstanding, this is a great Oakland mainstay. On my first visit I had the maple bacon donut, which is slightly more expensive but worth it, and also got a lemon pastry. I will definitely come back!

Colonial has been a local donut spot for ages and I love their glazed and chocolate donuts but I didn?t know they have recently been making mochi donuts Friday-Sunday?!?!!! I found out through their instagram and had to try some and they were so good! Chewy but not to bland anyway I am so happy to that this local spot I have loved now makes mochi donuts.

The best donut place in Oakland. They are open 24 hours, and usually have a hot batch around dinner/8 PM or so.

The donuts and drinks are so good! I am pretty sure that they are fresh each morning, along with their coffee. It?s great to come here early morning and at night when you are on your way home, and it gives you a the final satisfaction that you need.

My parents used to take me here. I quickly figured out that I hadn't visited in over 25 years, but the idea of how good they were haunted me. We had a reason to make the drive after dropping my son at the airport. The look and feel was much like I remembered. My maple bar was delicious. When I was a kid, we used to get there when they were still warm, and that would have been the only way to improve my recent experience.

Best donuts in all of Oakland. I came in at 2 am and they were bringing out a fresh batch of the apple fritters so you know this place keeps their donuts fresh. I tried their apple Fritters and they were crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. They were not overly sweet and not oily at all. They fry them to perfection. I also tried their Maple Bacon donut and its the perfect contrast between sweet and salty, fluffy and crunchy. I highly recommend this place!

I patiently drive out of my way to shop at Colonial Donuts specifically to get my favorite donuts...old-fashioned or buttermilk. Of course there is the range of traditional donut choices but also have really yummy other flavors you can't find anywhere else!!

The donuts are some of the best I've ever tasted in the Bay! But stay away from buying drinks. I've had a bad experience with their water bottles having some sort of particles inside. And last night I bought milk and there was rotten milk on the bottom of the cart. Stick to the donuts ??

Quick service - walked in about 6p doughnuts were pretty fresh - they were nice enough to warm some of my donuts!

Open 24 hours a day! The donuts are soooo good. My raised chocolate was warm and fluffy. The chocolate frosting wasn?t too sugary. The French cruller was full of air. I have no complaints other than the drive.

Upon walking in the scenery in the store feels lacking and could really use a refresh. But to make up for it, you?re presented with an assortment of many different donuts. Be prepared to just choose something though because the staff wasn?t really helpful with any questions about flavors. The donuts tasted pretty good and creative. Would go again.

The LAST 24 hour ANYTHING (except the sketchy laundromat on Broadway) in Oakland! Plus, the donuts are delicious, albeit a bit on the pricey side. The Ube donuts are amazing! Available in glazed or crumb (I prefer the glazed) , they're super tasty moist rings of purple cakey heaven! The raised Maple Bacon(when available, I know on Fridays for sure) and the iced Red Velvet are winners as well. Next time your sweet tooth comes calling at 3 a.m. head over to Colonial. You'll be glad you did!!

We?ve stopped in twice, both times after 8pm. Both times, they were putting new full trays into the display cases. Needless to say, a donut or 3 makes for an awesome dessert on the way home of an after dinner walk. Note: $5 min for credit card, but they take Apple Pay, so just need your phone! And the ube donut was super yum. I think I need to go get one now. Thank goodness they?re open 24 hours!!! Weeee!!!!!

I used to live right down the street for years and never tried this place, until 5 years later after I moved away to the east coast and was in town visiting friends. What a waste of being walking distance! All the extra weight gain I missed out on! The donuts are good. Especially when they are fresh and right out of the oven. Wow, wow, wow. This place is incredible. I'm not even a huge fan of donuts, but the pure deliciousness of their pastries cannot be overlooked. Open 24 hours this place is great if you're looking for some late night food they have breakfast sandwiches as well as a whole host of donuts and being open 24 hours, Colonial Donuts the only game in that part of town. It's a safe neighborhood and it's well lighted and while there are always a few nightcrawlers hanging around they're basically harmless I get it five stars and the graveyard shift guy he's on the ball.

Great place for the late night sugar craving parking always available. And the staff always has a surly attitude...prompt service in fact they will just move you right along if you linger a bit so do a bump before you go in.. Best donut place i have ever been to. Open 24 hours! The mochi donuts (available only Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) are amazing - great texture, the apple fritters are great and so are the cake donuts (especially ube) and the French donuts. All of these are worth trying. Probably skip the bacon maple one. Another thing you could do is get a donut that is fresh off the oven. These would melt in your mouth. Very friendly service.

We only came here because it was one of the few dessert shops close by that was still open. We tried the red velvet donut and the churro, both of which were a bit stale by the time we got there about 10pm at night. They also have a nice drink selection, which may have been the better option at that hour. Best donuts in Oakland. All of the standard donuts are offered, made to perfection. Donuts have a perfect texture, they aren't oily, and they have a balanced sweetness and flavor. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Covid is over, so there is no reason for them to STILL not have any indoor seating. Great donuts, but if you want to sit and have a donut and coffee while reading the morning newspaper, that is not possible anymore.

Colonial Donuts is amazing. They are open 24 hours so you can always show up when that donut craving hits. They have a wide variety of donuts from cake to raised to specials to old fashioneds. The staff is super nice and of course being safe in regard to covid. They also have coffee and other items to order. During normal times there is a nice seating area.

I love this 24hour 365 days/year spot. The only thing I'd change is the availability of the bacon donuts not being exclusively sold just on Saturdays. I have been enjoying Colonial Donuts off and on for years. My most recent visit was a mixed bag. The cruller and cinnamon butterfly were well received but the chocolate old fashion was day old and the person who had the apple fritter found it too sweet.

Came here for their "world famous" donuts, order quite a few for my family and myself and we were all very disappointed especially since they cost so much. The parking lot smells absolutely terrible, and the store isn't very clean. The owner also seems very sketchy

Great place for the sweet or savory fix 24 hours a day. Standard fare of donuts, with special flavors periodically. Mochi Donuts on the weekends. Ume donuts seem to be available regularly. Want something more than sweets, sandwiches are available. Wash down your food with beverages from water to coffee, and if you want to try your luck at winning millions, California Lotto is available too.

You could smell strong urine right at the front door. The crime in that spot is downright dangerous. There was a syringe at the doorstep so I told the owners and they just shrugged their shoulders

My kids wanted donuts en route visiting family. I found a donut shop on off I580. I didn't expect much as most donut shops on the east coast are stale donuts that I don't expect much from. I was pleasantly surprised as were my kids on how fresh and chewy the donuts were. I highly recommend the French cruller equivalent (I don't remember the name) as well as the traditional cake donut. Very tasty.

Colonial donuts is, was, and will continue to be the best donuts in the East Bay. Open 24/7, it's often the place for stoned teenagers, drunks leaving the bars, homeless, and the dedicated chess players of the East Bay, and I love them for it. Their donuts are made all day and night so there's always something fresh. There really is nowhere quite like it.

The only place I know of that has plain Buttermilk Bars freshly made every day. You have to get there early, though. Shop is open 24/7 and the plain ones are gone by 9am... Never-ending fresh, decent cheap coffee, too. Even during the pandemic. Used to be a local haunt at any hour of the day, but not while under Alameda County Health Officer pandemic direction. No indoor seating is available.

The best time to go here, or for that matter, any donut place, is the middle of the night when the donuts are still hot. Right around when the bars close, the raised donuts are coming out of the fryer. You have not lived until you've had a piping hot, fresh raised.

One place I can always count on is colonial donuts. Moving to the Bay from Texas I was shocked that hardly any food spots are open after midnight so colonial is a God send for me. I love going on Fridays or Saturdays to get my hands on the maple bacon donut. The donuts are solid not the best but definitely the best you can get at 2 in the morning.

Been going here for years- great donuts, friendly and quick service, I like their ham cheese egg bacon "croissanwich" which they always offer to heat up for you... had their mocha freeze (I think) recently, very yummy... they have bags of day old bagels for cheap~ hope they never close...!
