Coco Donuts & Coffee PSU

Coco Donuts & Coffee PSU

Reviews Summary

Coco Donuts receives mixed reviews, with many praising their high-quality, fresh donuts—especially the lavender glaze, maple bars, and mochi varieties—alongside friendly service. However, criticisms include inconsistent hours, occasional rude staff, and overpricing. While some find the donuts worth the premium, others feel they don't justify the cost. Service quality varies, with some customers experiencing excellent interactions and others facing frustration over incorrect charges or unenthusiastic staff. The shop's location near PSU is convenient, but early closures disappoint students. Overall, it's a polarizing spot with strong fans and detractors.

Customer Reviews

I am not sure if this is their intention or their standard soggy, mochi donut? I was utterly shocked and confused. Picked this up fresh at 9:00am on a Friday. I hope this is not their FRESH donut. But, I would be insulted if they served this old donut to customers.

The donuts are excellent, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around people saying that the prices are fair or reasonable. $24/dozen for their "basic" donuts and $28/dozen for their "premium" donuts is wild. That's nearly twice as much as you pay at a grocery store bakery, such as the nearby Safeway (which, admittedly isn't as good but I'm not sure that they're "twice as much better").

You guys need get your hours fixed. The hours on here say 6:30am-1pm, the hours posted in your store are 7am-2pm, and your Too Good To Go pick-up window is 4-4:30. Me and a couple other people left disappointed because our pick-up times were set 3 hours after you closed. Love your donuts, hate the time wasted walking there.

Great staff and donuts, the only thing I would say is to get there early as when I arrived the selection was limited as some flavors sold out by the time I got there around 10:30-11 am

I am boycotting here because of a very rude staff. She gave me only 11 donuts for two boxes (I purchased four boxes), which was understandable. BUT when I let her know this later, she almost blamed me for not having ordered online beforehand, which made her rush to box them up. I was the only customer who was ordering at the time (8:30 am). ----------------------------------- I am responding to the owner's feedback below here as Google maps doesn't allow me to comment on a previous reply in the same threa

The donut that I had was very good. The coffee was acceptable. The prices, service, and atmosphere are fair.

So twice now, I?ve been either double charged or charged for a tip I didn?t give. The girl with the insect tattoos routinely charges extra and won?t give receipts. I intend to raise this issue with the owners

My order was for a 2:30 pickup. It closed at 1:30 for unknown reasons. There was no refund.

the dough itself is really good, and their donuts aren't overwhelmingly sweet like they are at sesame donuts. one the best donut spots in portland imo, right up there with blue star and pip's!

Dounts are always fresh, with a soft texture and great flavor combination. and friendly helpful stuff!

The donuts were fresh and drinks were good, a little expensive for what you get but it?s Portland. Would definitely recommend if in the area. The mochi donuts were my favorite.

I love donuts and came to the Saturday farmers market this week and tried to time it to go to Coco at 1pm before they closed(schedule said 2pm). We walked in and they said 4 words that broke my heart. "Sorry we are closed". They said it was because of the holiday weekend they didn't get enough business to stay open the last hour. That sucked.

Disappointing. This location is right in the middle of Portland State University campus, high traffic area for students at all hours, they have no decaf, and they close at 2:00 (although, the sign is in a weird handwritten font that makes it look more like a 7) - right when everyone needs an afternoon pick-me-up and just as a major class time is about to shift. The donuts are tasty, but the coffee was meh, and the staff was annoyed (and kinda rude) that large swaths of students were showing up right before

We came in after Coco?s was featured on KGW for their anniversary deals. I was excited to support a local business and be part of their celebration. Their selection was beautiful, but service was less than enthusiastic.

Tried mochi donut and it was interesting in texture. Chewy, not what you expect for a donut. That was new for me. Had the lavender donut and all I could taste was sugar glaze, no lavender flavor. Overall not impressed and felt the prices were high for the quality

Good coffee and donuts, reasonable prices, nice space and friendly barista

I love a good raised donut and let me tell you, these raised donuts are DELICIOUS. I am fairly picky (Blue Star is the low end of mediocre to me), but I really enjoy this place. I've gone twice in the last few weeks and will be going back again and again. Affordable and delicious! Cool ambiance, too.

Pretty good. Nice employees. Check hours before going, I almost always miss going. Had a salted caramel latte that was way too salty, but they swapped it out for free so that was nice.

I love their lavender donuts

The only place open at 6:00 am and right across from PSU. The donuts looked gorgeous, but I couldn't have any because of my restricted diet. Barista wasn't too chatty, but she was quick, efficient, and there!

Better than Voodoo or Blue Star. Simply the best. They know what donut should taste like. This is where you wanna go especially if you are not a big fan of excessive amount of frosting with crazy toppings, or pretentious donut names with french words. Try their signature lavender glaze on a raised donut.

Quality donuts and their apple fritter was kinda braided which i found unique, I loved it!

this place is pretty good for the most part. it is pretty expensive for some reason & you can?t see prices on their website. they?re always out of something. but the ube latte is good

Hoot-tootery, want some good doughy nuts!? Coco's is the place to fly! Grab your significant other and bring your appetite, and thirst for some amazing coffee too! Highly recommend as you won't find in snobby Portland friendly staff like the manager there! Genuine place to give your business.

Not to miss out on their fluffy and light weight lavender doughnuts. Awesome cafe like feel but with an elegance and great staff. All thanks to our Underground Donut Tour guy who took us to this place and we got a chance to enjoy deliciousness

I will say this isnt delicious as blue star

Excellent donuts and coffee. Love stopping here for a donut before (or after!) class. Great staff, always super friendly. Service is quick, prices are reasonable, location can't be beat for students.

These are my favorite doughnuts ever! Simple but beautifully executed. The maple bar is doughnut perfection.

Coco donuts are fantastic. They are simply the best donuts in Portland (unless you want donuts made with too much sugar and cereal, which I like on occasion, too). The other thing about Donuts is that they are very committed to the community.

Go for Happy Hour! 2 dollar small black coffee and a doughnut! The lavender doughnuts and cinnamon buns are great. They will also fill your cup from home, so it's great for on the go!

It have great food but the person is a little rood

If you're a maple bar fan, try the buttermilk with maple frosting. It looks smallish, but *very* rich and so tasty. You'll need to cut it with some coffee.

Extremely Overpriced and the coffee taste burnt. My buttermilk donut wasn't even cooked all the way through

The owner must have hidden camera in the bathroom. I ate there and used restroom to use heroin, and the owner scolded me about using in the bathroom the very next time I came in. He must have a go pro or spy camera in the bathroom there

Coffee sucks, donuts they be chargin me like $2 a piece which is ridiculous price and they are sure not good enough to be worth that much.

Had a great experience here! Delicious donuts and coffee. I highly recommend this place. The crumble donut was amazing!

Yum! Better than most others, including Vudoo and Krispy Kream. Coffee is good to, and the staff are awesome and friendly

This place is always about closing... I live and work on campus but never get to buy a donut there... today Thursday 27th at 2:35 they told us; ?sorry we are about closing....:/ ?

Very friendly service and very tasty donuts! The mochi ones have a delightful texture

Donuts are delicious, coffee as well. The kindness to my young daughters always makes our day

All other donut places are a joke!! Coco Is For Real!! Absolutely amazing donuts! Decadent the best I've ever had

Great coffee, even greater donuts, and yet even greater service. It?s my new favorite place to meet people on the PSU campus!

They were the nicest ppl n excellent service and donuts thank you!!

Always loved this place. Their doughnuts are amazing.

Such a great location and staff. Mochi donuts are my new favorite!

Great place on the PSU campus for a quick pick-me-up of a doughnut & coffee!

The donuts are amazing. Thank you for making PSU paradise whenever I crave a donut.

Fresh donuts and great coffee... The cashier was a bit rude. Perhaps she was having a bad day

A great place to relax with coffee and donuts while writing or studying. Good food at good prices

Lovely staff but most importantly, good donuts!

Had the nicest cashier. She was very friendly and helpful!

This is the second Coco Donuts I've tried to visit during posted business hours and found closed.

Doughnuts were really good, you can tell they're made fresh

I loved their ube mochi donut??

Low quality and overpriced. Obviously trying too hard to cash in on the donut fad before the bubble bursts.

Where else can get a great doughnut without all the hype... Great.

Change your hours online so that they reflect your actual hours.

Never any damn apple fritters! Jelly sucked!

That was delicious. I love you, buttermilk maple bar.

Pretty good, variety is limited, the staff are nice.

Best apple fritter I've ever had.

Tried both original glaze and old fashioned. Oily.

Nice service, yummy donuts and coffee :)

My favorite spot to find buttermilk donuts.

Nice staff and tasty donuts!

Great place with awesome baristas!

You must get a lavender donut!

Eh. I've had much better.

One of my favorite places

Says theyre open. Theyre not.

Fast and friendly service!

Coco Hour is the BOMB

Delicious as always.

Must. Have. Maple bars.
