Cal's has the best donuts in town, and the owners are the absolute sweetest. We've ordered several dozen at a time for family events, they have always had our order put together perfectly, on time, for a great price. We stop in whenever we need a little treat, we are greeted with kind smiles, and the vibe is always fun! 10/10 recommend!!
We were referred by Prairie Road Automotive...and they were right. The donuts were great and they had some we hadn't tried before. Of the 2 dozen we bought, everyone liked them, especially the fritters. BTW- They don't take credit cards.
I?ll start off that this was my first time going to this establishment I ordered a half dozen raised donuts ( fried in old oil, temperature was too high as the centers were still raw). Also purchased was two orders of biscuits and gravy. It tasted as it came out of a can (salty). PS..I worked in a bakery for 8yrs., so I do have experience in this type of business. 6/8/24
When you think of that one-off hometown style donut shop, this is place?full stop. The owner was extremely friendly with a few stories to tell and the food was delicious. I am not exaggerating when I say that was the best bagel breakfast sandwich I?ve ever had. I finished the meal with a powdered cake donut, it was soft and delectable. I will absolutely be going back here for more happy conversations and amazing food, I recommend that anyone try Cal?s Donuts!
Had a meeting with a client here, spent over $20 at the register (+ the $4 atm fee and a tip). We sat and began our meeting which was scheduled to take about 40min. 20 minutes in the owner abruptly tells us he's closing early and we need to leave (this was over 2 hrs before their listed closing time) despite us having only finished half our beverages and food we politely left and finished our meeting outside in the freezing February weather. I was still in the area a couple hours later so I decided to drive
The maple bar I had tasted like it was fried in oil that needed changing. It was pretty good but I was hoping for better. My daughter loved getting donuts together.
I love this store so much! I go here a lot because I attend school near and I Lionel not only the donuts but the service! The owners are one of the nicest people I?ve ever met
Cal?s is a wonderful bakery that values showing up for its customers every day with fresh baked goods. It works hard to sustain its business, especially in this time of economic uncertainty. Sophia, genuinely, how could you write such a horrendously inconsiderate review about such a hardworking small business? Yes, it is rude to come into a small business, remark on their selection, and then leave, as the owner depends upon your order to continue sustaining adequate operations. Nevertheless, regardless of y
Me. Who is I. That is correct. I like Cal's Donuts. Old Fashioned with old fashioned integrity and customer service. The hour was late. The doughnut and pastry selection was few. The owner treated me like I was the first customer of the day or his long lost brother. Lovely, indeed. An Old Fashioned and an Old Fashioned Buttermilk Bar. I have few words. What is wrong with making a donut the same way for over thirty years, possibly more. NOTHING. Only everything right. Crisp and firm on the outs
Horrible horrible service. Average product at best. They sent me home with several doughnuts I did not order nor want. I made them aware and they would do nothing about it. Not an apology or anything. Just a smirk. In addition, they were dried out and tasted ( the buttermilk bars) like white bread. Very expensive as well. Why can't we have a Dunkin Doughnuts in Eugene, OR?
Best Donuts in Eugene! Great coffee and drinks. Plus they serve other limited breakfast items. A must go!
Went in today.. asked ? do you have Bavarian cream. Man says you blind open your eyes..in fact yes I have been dealing with some vision issues whatever .. kind of a weird thing to say to a customer .. I buy 4 donuts.. cash only I get a ten from my wife .. come back.. one dollar more he says.. I get another ten .. he says I give you exact change.. gives me 8.50 back .. that is.3.12.5 per donut .. make it make sense. you earned this review bud 1 star.
Such a lovely place! My fianc? and I came here after a store in the area. Staff was really patient and sweet, the donuts were so yummy!
My review is long overdue! As one born and raised in Eugene, and this is my family?s spot for donuts growing up. Their donuts and bagels are so fresh and satisfying, and their biscuits & gravy are delicious; fluffy (not soggy) biscuits drowned in a savory and creamy sausage gravy, exactly what I?m looking for when I order from other breakfast joints. My family?s favorites are the glazed, sugar, Apple fritter, chocolate Bavarian cream, and maple bar donuts. Their dough hits different; light and fluffy instea
Some of the best donuts in town! Great old fashioned, and one of the best apple fritters I've ever had. We always come here for special occasions. The owner is so kind, and truly cares about his donuts. Support local business!
Extremely rude. Went in to get a specific type of doughnut. They did not have them which is totally fine, we did not plan ahead. So I simply said to my mom ?we could try somewhere else? and the the owner left the front counter for a few moments then came back to tell me saying we could go somewhere else ?was mean? and that ?this is how they make their living? literally meant no offense. Came for a specific thing and it wasn?t there? so strange.
The owner is incredibly kind. The doughnuts are super tasty and affordable. Im looking forward to going back.
We've been going here for years. They're the best donuts and biscuits and gravy in town! Forget voodoo. Cals is the best!
My sister went here this morning and got body shamed while trying to get doughnuts for her family. I'm very disappointed that a well-known shop would do that to someone that's trying to buy pastries from them.
Best donuts in town and the owner and his family are always so kind and great with the kids!
Great, classic doughnut shop. Had a variety of doughnuts and bagels breakfast with the family this morning. They all tasted great, especially the buttermilk bar. Cash only but there?s an ATM in the store. Highly recommend.
Best apple fritters around, delicious and dare I say buttery. Very nice people I was blessed by there kindness and will support this local donut shop. Another thing I noticed was how clean it was and how clean they were.
Cal's Donuts & Pastry is a delightful family-owned gem nestled in Eugene, Oregon. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the warm and friendly family who run the place, making you feel right at home. The donuts here are simply outstanding. They are some of the fluffiest and most delicious donuts we've ever tasted, each bite a perfect balance of texture and flavor. The variety is impressive, catering to all tastes, from classic glazed to more inventive flavors. What's more, the prices are incredibly
The husband and wife who own the shop are so kind and grateful for peoples business. The prices are great in my opinion got fresh baked donuts. Who cares if you have to pull out cash? I thought the ATM was convenient and I don?t mind a small service fee to support a small, local business.
I love them so nice and always great doughnuts ??
Got an Oregon Chai bubble tea and a dozen donuts and it was all delicious. Only complaint is it's a little pricy.
Unfriendly overpriced not very good what happened to the original calls about double the price ran by oriental people that can hardly speak English. A true rip off
I wish that I could give this place 10 stars instead of just five! My family ordered donuts to be served at my dad?s memorial service yesterday. The owners of this establishment knew who my dad was, as he frequently had coffee and donuts there. When we came to pick up the donuts, they had all of the donuts we ordered plus an additional few dozen donuts just to say thank you for all the years that my dad was a customer! Thank you for remembering my dad!!!
The clear ideal of a small local doughnut shop. They have a wide variety of choices including bagels and biscuits and gravy. Important to note this is a cash-only business, so come prepared.
The apple fritters are incredible. The person who served me was so friendly and patient while I picked out my treasures. Will definitely be back here again!
Great people, awesome biscuits and gravy, yummy donuts, and delightful singing voices. Went for my birthday breakfast and got a free donut as well as the best happy birthday song. Highly recommend!
Best donuts in town!!! We absolutely love this place, what else is there to say? The staff is really friendly, and I'm pretty sure they make the donuts daily. They do only accept cash, but there is an ATM. The coffee isn't bad and everything is a great price.
My husband and I have been coming here for more than 6 years, and cals never disappoints! They're always super nice, asking how you've been, and smiling. Cals is family run, and we've literally seen their son grow up over the years. Such amazing people, and they happen to make delicious donuts! Don't pass them up!
I stopped in to get donuts for work colleagues. Staff wasn't friendly and their prices are much higher than other donut shops. They only take cash and charge a $2.50 fee to use their in-store ATM. I will stop elsewhere next time...
Cal?s donuts are definitely in the top 5 best in the county. Good variety. Small seating area, they have biscuits and gravy also. Get there very early and bring cash.
My family has gone to this donut shop since before I was born and i have many fond memories of my grandparents bringing me here for donuts. My grandmother went almost daily with her dog for who knows how many year. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with dementia a while back and it has progressed to the point where she cannot walk around by herself anymore. Today is her birthday. When my father took her to Cal's this morning, they somehow knew it was her birthday and gave her free donuts. It really means a l
Cal?s is hands down the best donut shop in town. Even at 2 in the afternoon the donuts taste fresh! The bagels are better than most bagel shops around town as well. The staff is always extremely friendly, which is a huge plus. I highly recommend you come here any time you?re hankering for a delicious donut, or need to pick up a quick breakfast on the go. Just make sure to bring cash with you - all those quarters in your cupholder are finally going to pay off!
Best North Eugene local made doughnuts. And their handmade biscuits are amazing, they taste slightly of brown sugar which was pleasant! Edit: Since I was in high school the owners have been nothing but friendly. They're doing their best!
i have come here the past 5 days in a row. i love cal's, the people are so sweet and genuine and always put smiles on faces!! i always see people leaving with smiles, definitely go if you have the chance (:
Forget Voodoo Doughnuts, Cal's Donuts is the true Donut gem of Eugene, Oregon. They have fantastic donuts and pastry's, I don't know how they do it because it seems like every donut has it's own special quality dough. Every single dough and donut is delicious, I can't get enough seriously I have to treat myself with them or else I'd be 400 pounds. They have great deals on dozens you can get a great variety for the right price. A few of my favorites are the Glazed Buttermilk Bar, Apple Fritter, The Maple Bar
Pretty good donut selection, and at a fair price. Is it just me, or are their cream and jelly filled donuts larger than some of their competitors? Regardless, find these to be a good choice out in the River Road area. Buyer beware: they don't accept cards, it is a cash only establishment, and I didn't see any signs that warn you ahead of time.
No Boston creme. That's half a star lost. We did get the last two filled donuts among our dozen assorted and they were all delicious. Fresh, soft, good balance of dough to air for the glazed and filled. Cale donuts were great. Not dry or crumbly to the point of needing milk or coffee but not moist and sticky. Definitely go in the morning for the best taste.
The apple filled bear claw is delicious and the employees were friendly. Be prepared with cash, no cards.
Not really a donut guy but took a friend over to grab a few and I have to say they were all " Extremely Delicious. "
I grew up in this neighborhood, but can't remember ever going here. Back in town for a visit and finally stopped in. Got a maple bar, because apparently you can only get those on the west coast. Also got the biscuits and gravy. Both surpassed my expectations! Maple bar was a big, soft, yeasty delight. The biscuit was light and fluffy, smothered by hot, savory sausage gravy. Wonderful! Just remember to take cash as they don't accept credit or checks.
Quite possibly the best buttermilk bars I've ever had. The perfect doughiness in the middle. This shop is a treasure
Definitely my favorite donut shop in Eugene! Always friendly. Great donuts. I stop here to get donuts for work sometimes and it never disappoints!
Cal's has the best donuts around. Today was snowing, so I took a walk out to Cal's to buy a dozen donuts for my kids to enjoy on their snow day. All other stores in the area were closed, but not Cal's. The donuts are large and taste great. Well worth the walk through the deep snow.
My husband brought home a powdered filled donut from here and it was like taking a bite of heaven. The frosting filling wasn't overly sweet but wasn't dull in flavor. The donut itself was super fluffy and soft. Their maple bars are fantastic also! I can't wait to get more!
Really delicious donuts. Their buttermilk donuts and their apple spice are excellent. The old fashioned are very good as well. Apple fritters aren?t the best in town but I? like them. Staff can be a bit surly at times. Donuts are buy 4, get 2 free after 2pm.
Pretty good donuts! Stopped by while in town for a short visit. The only inconvenience was that they make you use an ATM to get cash because they don't allow card transactions. No debit or credit. If you don't have cash you have to pay the ATM fee or move on.
These are some of my favorite donuts. They do lots of good stuff here, but where Cal's really excels is in their plain cake donuts and buttermilk bars - they have the simple donut perfected to an artform. Be aware: they are cash only, and while there is an ATM in the store it charges a significant fee.
I got a fancy dozen and we enjoyed them. Delicious donuts for sure. It was cash only when I purchased these scrumptious snacks.
Cals is hands down the best. I consider them a premium donut so they have a higher cost. They are worth it and no store can touch the quality of their donuts. You will not be disappointed, they have fantastic lemon filled.
Love these people Treat them good
Cal's is consistently the best donut maker in town, in my opinion. The food is always fresh, and the texture is perfect. I will travel across town when I have a craving for one of their delicious creations!
This place has been here since Eugene's dinosaurs invented donuts. I ate these donuts when I was a middle schooler with no discipline and fewer dinosaurs. I ate these donuts as an adult and have become a dinosaur. Give them your patronage. The cycle renews.
This is by far the best doughnut facility I have ever visited..!!! Always fresh, and delicious..!!! My favorites are Apple fritters and Bavarian cream..!! I get doughnuts for my Wife and myself every Saturday and Sunday Mornings..!! The staff are very friendly and Professional..!!
Good biscuits and gravy. If you show up after noon the donut selection is smaller. Offer a variety of drinks, coffees, and teas including bubble. Plenty of seating. Clean. Parking lot can fill up but there is parking available across the street as well. Bus stop close.
I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn't the? Fact that the donuts are way over priced. They are really good but you pay the money.
Love this little place. My husbands coming here forever and brought us here for breakfast and donuts and it?s so good and the coffee was even better than I expected! Friendly customer service too
Every donut I have ever had here has hit the spot. Delicious stuff. Plus, they have some nice donut combinations that I don't usually see. Friendly staff and an overall great business.
The donuts were delicious, but a bit expensive. They only take cash which is a bit of an inconvenience.
We come here often. Donuts are super yum and the staff are insanely kind. They are cash only, so be prepared or they do have an ATM on site.
What business in 2022 doesn?t take debit or credit card? Cal?s. ATM right there so they can gladly charge you a service fee. This business is a joke and will not come back.
I have gone to Cal's , I was on the bagel store side ordered a bagel pulled out my debit card and was told that I had to go to the ATM which was next door in the donut shop both of which are owned by the same people so I go to use the ATM that cost me $3 and I come to realize if you don't have enough business ethics to look into banking with a merchant account and having credit debit options then I am not going to frequent your store I paid the $3 at day for their stupid ATM and left without my food to me i
Even some street beggars these days accept credit or debit cards; the fact that Cal's does NOT is insane. Donuts at least look quality.
My favorite donut place ever...... though I do have one complaint about the bubble tea, sometimes the boba doesn't get cooked long enough and when boba is undercooked it is like biting into a cheap bouncy ball.
My favorite donut spot in Eugene. They use the good Dawn flour!
Poor frying oil management makes it hit or miss, but when they have a good batch, it's one of the best in town.
Despite the cash-only tragedy, this place is a real gem. Great prices and the fritters are exactly what this Bostonian craves every time I come to town. Fresh.
My family enjoys the tasty selection of fried pastries offered here, and my wallet doesn't disagree with the prices. Place gets slammed so going early affords a larger selection.
Donuts were very fresh soft and fluffy. Cash only but there's an ATM inside.
Pretty good donuts. Good biscuits and gravy. They're cash only which can be a pain for the customer. (I think they have an atm handy, but still, who wants to pay fees for donuts... ?)
its a good donut but shop but come one after like 5-8 years of not coming here and you guys still haven?t updated to debit thats low especially because the atm fee goes to you
Sooo fresh. Their stock sells quickly, and if they're sold out, they'll tell you when the next batch will come out. Super friendly, clean, cozy place to take a break.
Just not for me.. myself I will take an extra few minutes and go to day night donuts on 99. There great with great service. The lady that works early evening is great..
Really really good old-school donuts. The twist was delicious, maple bar reportedly best ever. Good coffee. Cash only.
Great donuts! Alright biscuits and gravy. Would be 5 stars if they offered sides with the B's&G's!
My favorite donuts. Next door are my favorite bagels. No need to go elsewhere. Great people. Great service. Friendly place.
Nothing fancy here, just donuts executed incredibly well. Don't try to fix what isn't broken. Dough tasted good, donuts weren't over or under cooked and the frostings were soft and tasty.
Staff was extremely nice, my great grandpa loved his coffee and donut. Will be back again.
Some of the best damn doughnuts I've ever had!
Such great donuts!!!!! Always fresh and always good. This is a great little donut shop that I've gone to for years.
The donuts are tasty and fresh. And the bubble tea is good. Very good for first time bubble tea-ers who like milk tea.
Some of the best donuts in town! Be sure to bring cash though. They don't take cards.
these donuts are SO good that I come here almost every day during lunch. The Donuts are cheap and delicious.
Excellent donuts, but no debit! There's an atm inside, but what a pain in the ass. I almost never carry cash nowadays.
