This ?in the cut/window service? sweet treat place is great for if you?re in need of a treat or want to take a walk in west loop! My friend and I stopped here to get something for a walk in the neighborhood: we tried the salted caramel with snicker bites gelato and the strawberry lemonade Italian ice. Both were 10/10 delicious! The service was quick and of quality. It?s also such a cute shop to look at! Definitely will be back throughout the summer!
BomboBar is a must-hit spot if you?ve got a sweet tooth! I spent about $15 on a Cookie Monster Bomboloni and an iced caramel latte, and both were next-level good. The bomboloni was warm, fluffy, and stuffed with gooey blue cookie butter filling, topped with cookie crumbles?it was basically a dessert masterpiece. The latte was smooth and not too sweet, which balanced out the sugary goodness perfectly. The outdoor seating is a nice touch, and even though the line can get long, it moves fast. If you're craving
Great for the gram, bad for your pocket and mouth. I wish I had better things to say but the hype is in the aesthetic and the taste just ain?t all there. The hot chocolate is water based so it tastes like a fancier version of concession stand hot chocolate and the donuts are alright but the ratio of donut to topping is off. They look great and I?d say if you?ve never been then try it but I wouldn?t go back. This a one and done type of place.
Really cool spot for dessert. The idea of going to a side window at a restaurant is a dope concept! We got the s?mores and Nutella bombolonies which were awesome. Think we preferred the Nutella one but they were both really good. Highly recommend this spot! Went at 2:30pm on a Friday and there was no line
I?ve seen many people post this location and decided to give it a shot! Though, we had already ate and wasn?t hungry for some doughnuts I got a hot chocolate and my partner a gelato cookie sandwich. We both like it! It was very delicious! Next time we?re sure trying the doughnuts! Staff helped me out as it was my first time ordering and helped me create my order. Overall an above average dessert joint. Slightly on the pricey side but you pay for quality here!
Perfect for winter! Got the traditional hot chocolate and the S?mores hot chocolate. The area is a bit covered so you are not standing in the cold. It is a small space with about 6 stools and 2 small tables!
Came here just for the Bombolini!! I'd say it's best to share as it is a big portion and lots of sugar. A bit pricey for a doughnut but had tons of fun with the 'squeeze me' bottle. Worth going once if you near by in Chicago.
The charcoal oreo ice cream was delicious!! Everything tasted great. I left a star off because of the location. The space was small and packed. But will definitely visit again.
Donuts were fresh and delicious. The gelato was perfect. I do wish however that it was clear in the google listing for the business that the location was just a walk up window with no seating. It wasn?t the end of the world but wasn?t expected. Bombolini were worth it!
This is one of the places that I loved to go and I did. Before we start, if you are planing to go to have the donuts, shakes, or gelato you would to stand out, because they don?t have place for this service. In side is only for restaurant and par. Wonderful shake I drank that day, really worth to try. I highly recommend to come and get one of those. Delicious, looks nice and have multiple choices. I have here small note for you that, it is kind of expensive if you want to get an order. I see it should be le
I ordered the double cheese Bomboburger with beacon and parmesan fries and four Bomboloni (Vanilla bean, Cherry cheese cake, Lemon Meringue and Fruity Pebbles& milk) with Caviar (I highly recommend Caviar it was fast and it has free delivery and discount for new users) the fries was delicious but not as crispy as fresh. The burger was indescribable!!! It was fantastic!!! Juicy, cheesy with fresh buns and generous amount of bacon. I highly recommend it. Among the Bomboloni?s I was very exited for Fruity Peb
BomboBar in West Loop?s a solid spot, grabbed a Bombolato and a single scoop of cappuccino gelato. Total was about $13 with a Siciliana Limonata. Bombolato was warm, doughy, and that bacon-sweet combo hit just right. Gelato was smooth and not overly rich. Chill sidewalk seating, fast service, and def a fun sweet treat, just wish they had more vegan gelato flavors.
The idea of this place is what took us there for my birthday. The prices are WAY to high for what you get but it is the theme and the experience you are paying for I guess. We have gone, seen and tasted now we probably won't go again. The young lady at the window was super nice and helped us to pick and order and also gave me a free donut for my birthday. We enjoyed our treats but took the mini donut and cookie in a to go back to avoid a sugar attack. Overall, it is worth going for a special treat on a spec
Absolutely no place to sit? a few outdoor stools and no protection from cold! They should serve this from inside restaurant especially in the winter! We left without even ordering! Was bummed as ice cream in photos looked so good!
I love this place. Why have a Hot Chocolate when you can have a S'more HOTTER CHOCOLATE! Their Hot"ter" chocolate is the crazy stacking of sweet (your doctor & dentist don't recommend) things, and wow, was it a great experience and drink! Good news, they have recently installed a sheltered booth outside the hole in the rock, so you don't need to think twice about queuing, instagramming, and drinking this baby in the freezing windy Chicago winter weather! Can't wait to visit them against!
It was hard to find, we passed it and had to ask where it was, it's just a window on the street! They are part of the bar, but you order out if you just want dessert. The dough is very soft and fluffy, I love it! And it's really fun to add your sauce, we ordered salted caramel and Nutella, Nutella is not really Nutella, so I wouldn't recommend it, but the salted caramel was amazing. It's a fun experience and I would go back to try the different sauce and the ice cream when it's hot again.
Very unique place with flavorful donuts. It was hard to find as it's just a window on the street. They are part of the restaurant, but you order outside if you're there just for the desserts. I enjoyed the fact these weren't just ordinary donuts just drenched in sweet, crazy toppings. The donuts actually had a very good taste. I ordered the pack of 4 donuts with different injectable flavors. I ate one without the flavoring, just to get the true taste of the donut. The shake was just as good. I was vi
If you are craving a cup of rich hot chocolate with an array of your favorite toppings, this is the place you want to be in. Known for their hot chocolate and delicious bombolonis, Bombobar is a small ice cream, gelato and coffee shop near Fulton market. We tried the classic hot chocolate and build your owns. The build your own let's you pick the base chocolate and from a variety of toppings.
While the line seemed long outside, it moved quickly and there was plenty of spots for us to sit once we got our food. Ice cream was sensational and donut was yummy! Will go back for the hot chocolate next time!
Came here twice in the past week (which shows how much I love this place). The first time I went was around 8pm on a weeknight, so the line wasn't that long, but right after dinner on a Saturday night, we waited probably 45 minutes for our dessert. While it's obviously not a cheap place for a casual dessert, you do pay for how aesthetically pleasing the dessert itself looks. I got bomboloni's both times around, which are round donuts that come with cream filling in a tiny bottle you can squeeze in yourself.
Unfortunately these donuts and gelato are just too much sweet for me! The donuts were okay, but pretty basic donuts, nothing special. The gelato was good, but the charcoal gelato didn?t have much flavor. I wouldn?t go back here, but that?s just my opinion. I gave them 4 stars because the staff was friendly, and the location is cool (it?s a walk up window).
The setup is cute, they close at 11pm but stop serving the main items at 9pm, which makes no sense. The classic hot chocolate and the chocolate donut were good, but pricey. I?ve heard good reviews about BomboBar but this wasn?t the experience I was hoping for.
One of the best hidden gem dessert spots around chicago! Their gelato is amazing! So creamy and flavorful. My favorites are pistachio, mint chip and malted chocolate. The serving sizes are also perfect! The gelato shakes are so good and I love the specials and seasonal flavors they have. Would highly recommend!
$9 hot chocolate is really pretty, but not the best I've ever tasted. The taste is a little darker, but not true fancy chocolate. And it's not that hot. The $3.50 doughnut (bomboloni) comes with a really cute little squeeze bottle filled with your choice of filling that you can squirt anywhere. The doughnut was nice and warm, but just a sugar covered doughnut after all. Waiting in a long line was fun tonight, but wouldn't always be. The place has a cool vibe, and perhaps I'd return to try the ice cream so
Super Good! There was a line it took us about 30 min. to get through the whole process, that was around 11pm that we went on a weekday. The person taking our order was so pleasant, despite how busy she was i noticed every customer that went to the window she was smiling and cheerful. Which I really appreciated cause it was our first time and she was nice and helpful with the menu. Finding parking stunk. It is in an area where there are a Lot of restraunts so it was a busy area even 11 at night. But very coo
A very popular spot during nice weather nights. I came on a weeknight and it was still packed. The line was wrapped around the street. I think the ordering can be slightly more efficient but the desserts were ?Instagram worthy? and worth the wait. The shakes are good. The donuts were OK. If I go back it would be for the shakes.
I stop stop there in my "donuts tour" as I read really good reviews and nice pictures. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. I've got the lemon curd and pistachio glaze and it was not good at all.....It came in a box and they have a peace of cardboard under the donuts and we almost eat it....
Good and fun to look at. Not the best ice cream I?ve had. Definitely a fun place to visit but I wouldn?t return just for the ice cream. Their donuts are good!
Beautiful Christmas decor!!!! Finally tried the famous bombolini and tried the charcoal Oreo gelato. Good thinking with the lamps for warmth. Looking forward to the old town location since this was not an actual structure. This might be petty but the s?mores bombo didn?t have any chocolate drizzle :(
Tried the gelato, it was good but have had better. Not much outdoor seating despite being connected to Bar Siena (sort of keep being forced to order several food items after ordered food from BomboBar which had same food items as well?but I did not include this as part of my rating consideration). Has doggie ice creams!
Wow. Take a look at this burger and shake. I've seen pictures online of this place, and I've been craving it for months. I finally went, and it delivered. The burger was pretty good, but the place definitely specializes in sweets. The shake, donut, cookie - they were all amazing. Seats are limited though, and service was (mildly) rude to me - hopefully it was just a rough day for them, because I'll be back.
Found this restaurant from IG and had to go. Ordered a cookie crumble hot chocolate and there were a few toppings missing. Even though it was a nice presentation, It was not worth $16. The hot chocolate was lukewarm and bland until I got closer to the bottom. My cousin got Gelato which she enjoyed with the caramel bottle. All together It was ok but maybe I'll stick to the Gelato next time.
This place is pure magic! The whole place has a really cool vibe to it. Thankfully they have heat lamps outside and we were able to get a seat right underneath one. This place is basically sugar heaven, and all of it was delicious! My friends and I got a bunch of different things so we could try a variety of treats. By far my favorite was the hot chocolate! Putting the whipped cream in a waffle bowl above the hot chocolate so it doesn't melt right away is absolutely genius. I will 100% be coming back here!
I won't be coming any time soon. I feel like this is the kind of spot that sells on the idea of crazy, sugary concoctions but the idea definitely sounds better than the actual taste. It was overall disappointing. Pros: - good location - pretty fast service Cons: - the employee taking our order had a weird vibe that made us feel uncomfortable - my donut was slightly raw on the inside so I didn't finish it all the way - overpriced for what it is
The egg sandwich doesn?t taste good, even the food looks good the flavor is not that good. Also the place it was super hot, we can?t even enjoy the moment. I expect much more of these place
Cute little place for dessert. A friend's sweet tooth craving led us here. Quick service. We got the gelatos, berry mango sorbet was a bit sour, cookies and cream along with hazelnut stracciatella was fine.
Line seems long. Delicious. Line is way shorter than it looks. We moved super fast. Bombo staff were super nice and friendly. We tried icecream, donuts and even the puppy treat! ????
The treats were soooo delicious! The hot chocolate is pricey but worth the cost. I?m only giving it 4 stars because after we placed our order we waited a significant amount of time for our order to be ready and there were not very many people in line.
It's definitely Instagram worthy, but nothing to write home about. We got there at 10pm and had to wait 10 mins to order. We got the fruity pebbles donut, s'mores donut, cherry cheesecake donut, and red velvet gelato. S'mores was my favorite, it came with a squeeze bottle of extra chocolate ganache. Don't think I would go back now that I've experienced it, but definitely go try it for yourself.
Really liked their charcoal orea ice cream flavor, very delicious! Wish they had a bit more fruity ice cream flavors on the menu to choose from too.
Charcoal oreo ice cream is fascinating. I am glad to have tried it. The donut was only okay for being a staple. I was a little confused by the menu. But the team worked fast and efficiently from the window.
Love BomboBar. Their donuts are unique and delicious. They have a walk up window for donuts and quick bites. Sometimes the lines are long but it is usually worth the wait.
We came to hang out in this area because it's in the Fulton Market area and I wanted to go to some bars/restaurant in the area. Bombobar is a pretty cozy space that is built from extending the side of an adjacent restaurant. The area is a big tent, but feels pretty cozy. To order the food, there's a window kinda like take out that places and calls out your order. My friend got the s'mores one and I got the vanilla cream custard bombiloni. Both were so good! For the taste, the actual bombiloni was warm and
I tried the hot chocolate here and its VERY sweet. Like in the worst way. It feels like your swallowing milk and a ton of sugar and I thought I became a diabetic. I would come back to try the fill it yourself doughnuts but definitely hard pass on the hot chocolate. It does make for a cute picture tho
The guy who took my order was really nice, but the cookie monster Gelato was just okay. The Gelato itself was good, but the cookie dough in it tasted like it was from a tube. Cute place for overpriced ice cream.
The best hot chocolate you will EVER have - and it looks like a work of art! It?s easy to tell that they use quality ingredients, so it?s worth the price. Try to come when there?s not a crowd, because this is a tiny little walk up spot. The salted caramel hot cocoa was to die for!
Very delicious and creative! A tad high on price, but it is worth its value. As well as good customer service! I have visited this location a handful of times now and each visit was a pleasant time. Be ready to hit the gym the next day!
For all the rave that Bombobar gets, I have been disappointed time and time again. After multiple attempts to try to get a shake here, only to be told they are out of all ice cream, I was able to get one....kind of. I tried to order the chocolate shake only to find out after 10 minutes of waiting that they didn't have the ingredients. They didn't offer any recommendations as to what they could make and I had to go through the menu with them asking about each item to arrive at them only being able to make th
Tried oreo donut and cherry cheesecake- first one is the winner (tastes just like a cake but it is a donut). Great spot for a quick sweet stop after a dinner!
BomboBar does a fantastic job of catering to people of all kinds of food allergies and dietary restrictions. They boast a selection of dairy free, nut free, gluten free, and vegan options. Desserts are always tricky for me due to my severe nut allergy, but I was able to eat here! My Cookie Monster dough gelato and mini bombo were SO GOOD! The price is reasonable considering the area. My gelato and mini bombo were only $5. The bombolini was also delicious and came with a vanilla bottle of filling for $3.50.
The place is nice and small! Smells delicious, they had hot chocolate and nice desserts like gelato and little donuts
I came here to get the bombolonis I kept seeing online. I was a bit confused on how to order, but you have to go to the window. The small bomboloni with the pipette was not how I received my order. Instead I received three bombolonis in a cardboard box and the Nutella sauce for dipping. Overall, they were tasty, especially when warm, but it didn't live up to my expectations. If you are looking for that dessert you saw online, you're not going to find it here currently.
Their donuts are crazy! We actually went gaga over it, so took some 4 flavoured donuts, which they neatly packed with separate fillers. I'm not a doughnut expert, but all I can say from experience was that, they were soft and easy going, less hard than Randy's doughnut for sure(if you had those in Cali), and definitely super filling. You will surely like it! Give it a try and they won't disappoint you Thumbs up and 4 ?? from my side.
If you've got a sweet tooth, this is the place to be. We ordered the salted caramel and Nutella bomboloni. The salted caramel was amazing. The donut is warm, light, airy, and fresh. It's simply Delicious.
Best place ever for an Italian doughnut! Not too long of a wait but the lines be extremely long. The Italian ice is $6 overpriced for a pouch of frozen lemonade. I also had the parmesan cheese fries, they looked great but tasted horrible never ordering them again! $5 overpriced fries.
One of my favorite dessert booths to visit! It is an addition to Bar Sienna where you can enjoy dinner and then dessert by Bombobar, but this is just for dessert lovers who opt out of dinner. Overall amazing sweets - I always get gelato with a mini Bomboloni when I go (which is quite often!) Workers are very nice, but keep in mind it is more convenient to pay with a card as with cash you have to first place a cash order, then go into Bar Sienna and pay inside of the restaurant, to only go back outside to pi
My first time and would definitely come back! Staff was so friendly and welcoming. I had the cookies ?n cream. Never had a donut like this! Yum! Go try them all.
Best Hot Chocolate I?ve had! I may have been taken away by the presentation but still safe to say this is the best hot chocolate I?ve had.
Definitely get a bombolini. Salted caramel was divine! It was, by far, what they excelled in. I also tried a create-your-own gelato shake. The shake itself was delicious, but the donut that comes with it was way too sweet (esp compared to their bombolini), and the cookie was hard. This location is just a walk-up window, which was not clear on Google maps, so just a heads up.
Bombobar's has the most authentic tasting Italian Gelato I've tasted in quite a while. My dog ?? and I just finished hiking through the West Loop farmer's ?? market nearby and needed some shade, water and Gelato. Clearly they know their gelato...blows away the competition and I'm extremely picky with ice cream ?? and Gelato. Just order some at the window, take a seat outside and enjoy their throbbing dance music ?? that streams non stop.
Love the super creamy gelato here. The charcoal Oreo is the stand out favourite. The mini bombolinis are delicious. There are also tons of beverage concoctions that looks tasty as well.
This hidden jem was great for an evening snack. We stopped by as we walked to our car. The doughnuts are not typical. No hole, very soft, not overly sweet, and several dips to choose from. The Gelato was great as well.
Stopped by the window in the side of the restaurant to grab one of their instagram-worth shakes. My friend and I each got different shakes but both were cloyingly sweet and were hard to finish. Flavor profiles were underdeveloped and overshadowed by the sugar content of the drink. Nice for a picture on social media, but the price point and mediocre taste made sure that I won?t be getting one again.
I finally made it here after seeing so many photos and posts from friends. There was a line but it went fast. The gelato was nice for dessert and we got some Bombos to go. They are much better warm than cold. Was a fun treat! The presentation of the donuts were cute.
Ice Cream filled Donuts! Milkshakes garnished with cookies AND donut holes! This place is outrageously decadent but delicious. The options are endless for combinations of donuts, ice cream, toppings and sauces. The valet (in front of sienna) was super nice and the desserts were delicious.
A little pricey for gelato but worth the wait in line. Ordered the coconut gelato (only dairy free option), and it had toasted coconut - the good kind. My friend ordered the doughnut, and even though he hates spending money on fancy food, he loved it and wanted to go back for more. I really liked how they had menus strategically placed in buckets along the rail so I could figure out what I wanted while I waited.
Heard about this place because it was heavily Instagrammed. Super busy when I was there on a Saturday night and it?s not that big of a place. We split a Bomboloni with Vanilla Bean Custard. It was alright tasting but nice aesthetics to look at.
Taste: great, however it?s all original and you can small bottles with your flavor. Which it was more creative when it comes to flavors Service: not satisfied, woman was screaming and when I asked for a cup of water she told me I had to buy it and that I had to wait in line to do so(more than 10 people standing). And I came for the milkshake but when I came it?s not available until Monday(this was friday) and it wasn?t mentioned anywhere!! Would I come again? I would honestly not if this is how a customer
The donuts taste good, just a little greasy. The custard is delicious. It goes down to 2 stars because it's extremely wasteful; 1 squeeze bottle to the trash for every donut sold to go, that's a disaster (they have recycling at the place but most likely no one that buys to go would recycle them)
It was good... Did not live up to the Instagram hype for me. A bit of a wait, which was also not worth it. The coconut gelato was pretty tasty, but the bombolini was actually terrible. Maybe they weren't fresh as this was later in the evening that we visited. I wouldn't discourage trying it, but I also probably wouldn't revisit.
My sister and I got the Hot Apple Cider and Smores Hot Chocolate and it was amazing. Though it was the coldest day in Chicago with a -15 wind level, it was worth it and I'm not one to stand outside. The customer service was also amazing.
The presentation was amazing, but the reason for the low rating. The hot chocolate was very watered down and tasted bland, and the donuts were nothing special. I?ve had much better donuts at other locations. For the cost i would have preferred to go somewhere else, with better quality hot chocolate and donuts and less of the presentation.
My sweet tooth led me here. The Bomboloni is an interesting variation of the donut. If you're ever in the West Loop area, check this place out.
The hot chocolate was good but the pistachio donut was so so for the price. They definitely put plenty of effort into the packaging and it shows but flavor should still be more important.
The Bombolonis are ?? the iced lattes are STRONG and we couldn't taste much of the flavor over the espresso Ordered: S'mores Bomboloni, Nutella Bomboloni, Vanilla Iced Latte, Caramel Iced Latte Note: mixing the nutella syrup in the coffee won't make it taste sweeter ????
I wanted so badly to take off a star for how expensive this place is, but I can?t because it?s so good. The treats are decadent but somehow not sickeningly sweet. They have convenient tablet ordering at the counter, friendly staff, a text notification system, and the flow of people makes it surprisingly easy to get a seat in the small outdoor seating area. The fancy treats are easily customizable if you don?t like a specific ingredient (they let me take the cotton candy off mine), and you can add other stuf
This was honestly the best cup of hot chocolate I have ever had! It was well worth the money spent! I can't wait to go back in the summer time to try their gelato!
These bomboloni are the perfect treat as a snack or dessert. They came out fast, fresh, and fluffy - we got the salted caramel sauce which was delicious.
Great service, yummy gelato. I'm so glad we stopped by here. You can even get your dessert spiked with alcohol! A must on your Chi town food tour!
Go. Now. You won't regret it unless you're diabetic or on a strict diet. I got the snores hot chocolate and loved every second of the creamy goodness going down my throat. Small spot, so not for large groups, but perfect for a few friends to get in and try some of the unique concoctions
The S'mores hotter chocolate was rich and satisfying, my only gripe is the pricing. You're paying 10 dollars mostly for the instagramability rather than the actual ingredients. This honestly made the purchase hard to justify because I expected it to be even better for the price. Maybe I will change my rating once I try more things.
My opinion about this place is very perplexed. I first visited the place a week ago ( Oct 13 ) and brought along few friends as I had heard good things about the donuts. We wanted to fuel up there for Open House that weekend but when we arrived the place was closed After waiting for good 20 min we left and ended up going for breakfast across the street. Today I happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to try my luck again This time the place was open and I ordered Salted Caramel bombolini and coffee.
Very decadent and over the top desserts and drinks. I would recommend the bombolini with Nutella and their hot chocolates. Might want to take it to go if you can as there isn't much seating.
While the menu items are aesthetically pleasing, the prices are not. The hot chocolates will run you around $12 & all you get is a small donut, some toppings & a nice photo before it all melts. The donut was hard & slightly stale & the hot chocolate tasted like Swiss Miss. The lines are long & there is barely any place to sit once you receive your items, & in the winter, the spot heaters are blasting on high, making some spots under the small tented area an absolute oven.
Amazing doughnuts with fillings. They have a big selection of flavors and the ones where you squeeze in your own filling are my favorite. You get exactly how much you want with each bite and there is more than enough for the whole doughnut. Vanilla bean custard was my favorite and the one in the picture.
Interesting concept for doughnuts. Tried different flavours of fillings and the hot ones did not disappoint. Loved the recycling cans for the squeeze bottles. Definitely a must do if your are visiting the area.
Delicious fresh to order donuts? but I miss the old way they use to serve the donuts (customers use to get a mini syringe to self inject the syrup)
BomboBar was pretty good. About $5 for a single scoop in a cup with one topping, it gets more expensive with more toppings. The single scoop is a great size. I got mint oreo and I thought it was lacking oreos, but overall good gelato. The cup was a little messy when they handed it to me, but that happens anyway when you eat ice cream. Its nothing spectacular, but I would recommend if you havent been.
