This place changed my mind about donuts. I have only ever thought they are okay until I tried Blackbird. I've only been here twice but I loved it. We were surprised to discover later that the first two donuts we got were vegan. I've had great vegan food before but desserts are often lacking. Not so with these donuts. The lemon glazed donut was so tart and perfect. We also loved the chocolate mousse bismark. Of course not every flavor is mind blowing but the overall quality really is phenomenal. I love th
As a donut conneiseur who's tried my fair share of pastries, this shop lives up to the hype! At $42/dozen it should! However the price point is actually reflected in the taste and that is something I have found lacking in some hyped up places (Kanes which was so disappointing). I can't even say I had a favorite for what we tried: cannoli, tiramisu, eggnog, jelly filled and Boston cream. If you twisted my arm I may say eggnog! The Boston cream was definitely the best of it's kind I've ever had. If you're loo
I didn?t even like donuts until I tried the Boston cream donut from Blackbird. Now I randomly crave donuts at 8 pm when they?ve already closed and I have to (impatiently) wait until the next morning. Anyway - these are the best, softest donuts I?ve ever had and you have to try them too. Plus the staff is super friendly and the coffee is great!
Good donuts but hardly worth the price tag. Got a half dozen donuts including ice cream cake, Boston cream, black bird, and mango swirl. I liked how they didn't put too much sugar for their fillings, but overall the doughnuts weren't phenomenal as some people described. The doughs for the regular donuts (not brioche) were chewy and less greasy which made them taste healthy, but I wasn't a huge fan.
I used to defend Blackbird as good even if they weren?t my favorite donut in town, but no more. I had a maple braid a few days ago, and it was even less maple flavored than Dunks (let alone other places with a comparable price point). Add on an unremarkable texture with a bit too much grease and it?s 1 star for the price for me. I give them a second star for trying some innovative flavors, but I?m not eager to go back.
Very small donut shop with great service. This is a to go shop, basically pickup only. There is no sitting room, I got my stuff for take out and went and sat in a park. Balckbird doughnuts has a really good donut selection, I went with the banana fosters and it was good.
Five stars for this doughnut. I've probably had better doughnuts in general, but this particular Donnie is everything! It's sweet and savory and has all the things I love. Hmm maybe I'm not really into sweets, actually I usually like hot sauce on this one. But honestly, everyone should have a doughnut they love and this one's mine. Generally thier flavors are really good, especially the filled ones. I prefer their yeast doughnuts.
Perhaps one of the most creative donut I had. Besides the everything bagel donut, of which surprised me with its savory filling; the rice pudding donut, filled w classic rice pudding seasoned w cinnamon combined the best of 2 desserts. The donut itself is super pillow-y with ice/filling with just the right amount of sweetness. I regret only getting 6!!
The peach jam & strawberry doughnuts were the best. Standard plain glazed in both brioche and old fashioned were both very good, as was the espresso pulled on a la marzocco.
Amazing vegan doughnuts - I wouldn't know they were vegan. They're in the Dunkin style which I love - sweet and fluffy and light - not old fashioned hard and crumbly. Friendly service as well. A must-try Boston classic.
Blackbird donuts are some of my fav, but the flavors vary a lot in quality. The toffee is consistently really good. But the service here is not friendly. Even when I bring my 4yo who is excited to be at a donut place, staff are surprisingly unfriendly. Also, they are careless w how they put your donut in the bag. I love my donut and hate for the frosting /glaze to be gone. They could do better esp for the price.
It?s a tiny space inside. The donut display is subdued so it?s hard to get excited about the donuts when ordering. Didn?t really enjoy mine much.
Beware the donut scam. If you?re on the hunt for the best donuts in Boston, you might want to skip Blackbird Donuts. Despite its popularity and modern, inviting shops, the donuts themselves leave much to be desired. Walking into any of their locations, you're greeted with a trendy atmosphere and the promise of unique donut varieties. However, once you get to the actual tasting, the experience tends fall flat. They're just not good donuts.
Vegan donuts!! They aren?t marked, but ask the staff for the flavors that day. I had a peach jam filled, and it was perfectly sweet, soft, fluffy, and everything you want a yeast donut to be!
The oatmeal creme donut was delicious and it was well made! We also got the old fashioned and stuffed cookie dough donut which were pretty good also! I would come back to try others!
Absolutely terrible! After reading many positive reviews, we decided to try the Boston Creme Donut, expecting a Boston classic. However, the filling was genuinely awful. I must mention their dough was a failure as well. Instead of getting donuts here, you?re better off going to Dunkin'. I?m not a huge fan of Dunkin' nor am I paid to promote them, but I can confidently say they are much better than this place. This just goes to show how bad Blackbird Doughnuts?really?is.
The customer service was horrible, the gentleman acted like we were interrupting his day by coming into the doughnut shop. The doughnuts themselves, Boston Cream & Apple Cider Glaze, were very bland and the dough was not good, average at best. I would not recommend this place if you?re in Boston.
The Boston Cream donut was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Just opened 1 week ago! Can?t never get back to normal donut again! Take my money blackbird! Must have for first timer- everything bagel donut.
Lovely soft dough and well fried. The everything bagel doughnut was brilliant. Good contrast between the savory and sweet.
This misses the mark completely. If you're used to traditional cake or raised donuts from the likes of Kane's or Donut King or your little local shop, this won't do it for you. They are pricey as well, ~$4 or more for a donut. There's too much chew on the dough that's used for the filled donuts (Boston Cream etc). Braided twist was a bit lackluster but slightly better than the Boston Cream. Had a latte which was also underwhelming. Better coffee can be found easily nearby, donut availability is a little thi
Yummy donuts but they often run out of them and you can't tell from their website. Coffee was okay, I thought it was kind of weak.
Donut was good - didn't taste stale nor have have a feel like it had been sitting on the shelf. I went with a basic glazed which tasted like what I expected - good amount of glaze and fresh taste. Wife went with the glazed, too, and shares with my opinion. Friends expanded and got the more unique/rare donuts and raved about them so I definitely suggest going that route. Coffee drink is made fresh which was a great add on!
Expensive doughnuts that are good, but I dont think are worth the hype. I definitely think its worth going in to try and donut or two. For donuts theres a few directions you can go - you can be simple, you can be tasty, you can be creative, or you can be all three. Blackbird donuts are creative, But they sacrifice taste.
Kudos to Blackbird on their marketing. We were recently in town and the Beacon Hill location was very close to where we were staying. The donuts on the website were beautiful. Unfortunately, we bought a box to share and they were absolutely terrible. Way too chewy, the glazes were awful, and each one more disappointing than the last. Save your money and go somewhere else. No doubt it will be better than here.
Delicious simple doughnuts. A bit pricer than a chain but that is to be expected. Very small front area so if you're going in the morning you'll probably have to wait outside.
I was looking forward to trying the Ube drinks, but they were unavailable. Sadly, the employee wasn?t friendly either.
When I travelled there on Vacation a year or two ago, I had breakfast here. While the ambiance was good, the donuts were good too. However, they almost forgot one of the donuts I ordered, which would've sucked because they were already paid for. Despite that, it was still a generally decent experience. Just wish that discrepancy didn't happen. (I know they didn't mean it)
The donuts are really delicious. I have had the signature blackbird, chocolate, and boston cream pie versions over several visits. None has disappointed. Nice staff, fast service. Primarily to go.
These are good donuts but frankly I don?t think they are anything great for the price you pay. I consider Knead Donuts (Providence RI) to be a five star donut joint while these were above average but nothing extraordinary. The location is small and feels like a pickup kiosk instead of a donut bakery, And the staff is very polite and helpful. I will give them another shot but didn?t have the same level of enjoyment that others did...
Blackbird donuts are very creative and interesting flavors both raised and cake donuts. They along with Union Square donuts are my favorite ones in the Boston Cambridge area so far. The closest you can get to my favorite of all time, Top Pot Donuts in Seattle. They have an espresso machine and they make 10 ounce lattes cappuccinos and mochas, but donuts is what they do best.
These are undoubtably the WORST donuts I've ever had. I went looking for the best donut in Boston. I mentioned that at the counter, and the other customer waiting for his coffee commented, "I know some good places..." then trailed off. The attendent didn't say anything. I got two of their 'best sellers'. One was just bad. The other tasted like a mistake. Am I critical? Not usually - I love sweet things. I saved the donut for my spouse, who spit it out after one bite. Imagine my surprise when I googled 'best
Good doughnuts and coffee. I guess this is a local chain in the Boston area? I had the drip coffee, but son had the cold brew and it looked really good. Doughnuts were fresh. Could have used a place to sit and eat, but am sure there is a bench nearby!
The donuts were really similar to cake and didn?t have too much flavor. Tried a few and none of them seemed to clearly be the flavor they said they were. They were still good, just plain. The nitro coffee is excellent though.
By far one of the best doughnut shops in Boston. pretty excited that they opened this one up in beacon hill. the doughnuts are pretty bomb 10/10 and the customer service is really friendly and nice. the vibe in the shop is fun/happy/go with the flow. great place for doughnuts and coffee. Personal fav: sprinkle doughnut
Wow these doughnuts were so fresh tasting and I like that they have an interesting variety but still limited selection. The doughnuts they make are delicious! Enough that we are bringing some back to chicago with us
Much smaller place than I expected. Donut was pretty good but I'm glad we didn't have to wait in a long line or walk too far for it. If you're near one, worth the stop for a treat!
Best donuts in Boston. Happy to have them in the neighborhood!
Staff was so busy listening in to what the other was saying to customers that they got both mine and the customer in front of me's orders wrong. We were the only people in there. Mabe the wrong coffee for them (at least they could fix it because they caught it there) and missed a donut I paid for, didn't catch it until back at work, so out the money for it. Very Disappointing!
Blackbird always has a great selection of donuts for all tastes, like chocolate, vanilla, and fruity. Some of the best donuts ever!
Great donut options and coffee wasn't bad either! Asked for a flat white and even though it wasn't on the menu, they made it for me!
Worth the wait in line for good coffee and stellar fresh donuts. They had a special coconut macaroon donut my family was bonkers for.
They?re always nice and always use gloves to grab donuts which is the reason I go here
In and out spot (no indoor seating) offering unique donuts and pastries as well as coffee.
One star only for the service. The lady who works there is extremely slow. She was preparing 2 coffee drinks for 20 minutes. During that time she had a line of 5 people waiting.
Some of the best donuts I have ever eaten. Would recommend them to anyone who enjoys a great donut ??
we bought Boston cream donuts. what a waste of money. threw them out they were so bad. dunkin is better!
I don't understand the hype around this place. The donuts we had were VERY doughy and not in a good way. We ended up throwing them out.
I ordered catering from this location and was beyond pleased! The staff is super friendly, everything was packaged nicely, and the breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Thank you!
The pineapple dream donut is truly a dream! Very good mocha, and reasonably priced.
Best doughnut I?ve ever had! Also great coffee and staff
Unique gourmet donuts. The Boston cream is especially good, not too sweet
Best doughnuts in Boston, especially when you want to try something new.
These donut suck! On top there are charging Kane?s prices for Walmart donut...smh never again.
Sometimes good donuts make you smile. Blackbird makes me smile!
Great ice cream doughnut sandwich! It is as delicious as it sounds!
This is the absolute worst doughnut I've ever had. Dry and tasteless.
Yummy doughnuts! Didn't get a chance to snap a picture but they were yummy!
Great place to grab delicious doughnuts!
Always a treat when in Boston. Iced coffee with new daily doughnut ??
Wow, that donut pie. It was so good. Made with the apple cider donut.
Great donuts, terrible coffee
Best doughnuts ever!!!
