Friendly, attentive staff and quick service are frequently mentioned, though a few note inconsistencies in pricing or service. Customer Reviews

It is NO longer called Birdies. However, it is still a cute little caf? with excellent service, good tasting coffee, and soft fluffy donuts. As we were leaving, it did start to get a little busy, so be prepared.

I ordered from this place moments ago and I am absolutely shocked & terrified that there was a big metal in my husband?s chicken sandwich. He was eating the chicken sandwich and he almost broke his tooth because of complete negligence. I will never be ordering from this place again. WOW.

This place felt like a little league concession being run by junior high kids who have never worked in a restaurant in their life. Birdies may have been a good place (I never went) but it seems to have shut down and is "reopened" as Duchess. Duchess was a horrible experience and the food was terrible to mid at best. The staff, while very polite, did not seem like they knew how to run a restaurant. We had to repeat our order several times and they still forgot something. The chicken breading was inconsi

The place is under new management or changes its name. Look for Duchess Service was good and no issues with taking my order or the food received. Food was great. The quality of the chicken was amazing and the sandwich was massive. Lots of options for donut flavors - recommend the pistachio lemon

Wonderful interaction and great food. This was my first eating experience in LA, and it was such a good choice.

Loved everything I tried here. First, and foremost, as you walk into the shop, the first thing you will see are these beautiful donuts, waiting for a kind heart to take them home ?? I tried their breakfast burrito and it was spectacular. Their heat level did not disappoint, the quality of ingredients used was fresh and delicious! Also, tater tots are life and Birdies knows how to meet expectations on this front. Their donuts were exquisite and I thoroughly enjoyed their variety, which includes horchata an

It doesn?t matter if it?s called Duchess or Birdie?s the food is phenomenal. Breakfast burritos are my personal favs but the breakfast and lunch chicken sandwich?s are top tier. If you?re lucky they?ll have some of the iconic gold dusted donuts available. The other donuts are good too. Order ahead via an app or in person the cook time is usually around 12 to 17 minutes. This is a hidden gem in Downtown Los Angeles.

Such a good chicken sandwich with high quality chicken. Fair prices as well.

In DTLA, this is probably one of the best donut shops around with other menu items available outside of pastries. I did the 6 for $20 special and got the assorted. They were all really good and fresh. The cloud cappuccino was also a great drink but I ordered it less sweet. The best donut of the bunch was definitely the Nutella filled one. Each one had its own unique and spectacular flavor. I?d definitely come back here again and try their fried chicken. I highly recommend this spot and be aware that parki

First and last time here. Ordered a classic glazed donut, which shows $2 in the display case. Register says 10% off of paying by cash. Donut rings up at $2.25, I paid cash and no discount adjustment nor did the counter gal correct it when I brought it up. Literally shrugged her shoulders as if to say, ?Oh well, too late, price is wrong and I didn?t give you a cash discount. Donut itself was good. Place is dumpy with cheap signs plastered on the wall as if they got lazy with the name change and rebranding.

Superb, friendly customer service plus they offer samples to try the donut flavors. Small minimalist black & white interior, regular fresh hand made donuts with inventive toppings. I didn't try the free-range chicken sandwich but it looked delicious. I had the maple bacon and the cinnamon toast donut, both were delicious.

Small shop in LA where people gather for mouth-watering and affordable chicken sandwiches. The original burger they offered had such a generous portion of fried chicken between the brioche buns. The sandwich contained cheese, coleslaw, pickles, and a good amount of sauce to pair all of the ingredients together. It'll be messy eating, but that's how you know it'll be a delicious meal. Still not enough for you? Add on a side of fries that has a big enough portion that puts fast food restaurants to shame. Now,

Birdies is one of My fave spots to catch a quick, affordable bite when I'm in DTLA. They make an excellent chicken; juicy, flaky breading, nice crunch. Shoestring fries are nice and simple. Plus, if you si desire they have Bomb donuts to grub on. It's especially good on the weekends. Fridays and Saturdays they stay open til 3 am.

Most delicious chicken sandwich which was on point with the level of spicy ??? per hubby. Kid approved gourmet chicken nuggets. Unique donut flavors. Excellent customer service. Limited seating options.

These are some of the fluffiest donuts I have ever tasted! I'm from Texas, and clearly, these are some of the biggest donuts I have ever consumed. The glazed donut alone is not too sweet and is not too overwhelming. Better believe I am looking for amazing hidden breakfast nooks. The Arnold Palmer is not your usual style. Mostly lemonade but still is not overpowered by sweetness from the tea. The Drip Coffee offers great balance to the glazed donut. It is ready to drink and the perfect temperature. The M

First time trying and will definitely be back again. Got the breakfast sandwich with chicken and bacon with a sunny side egg and was the best thing ever. Also tried the strawberry matcha latte and it was delicious (with oat milk). Customer service is great along with the French fries. Thanks for a pleasurable morning :)

I got the Spicy chicken breakfast burrito with the apple caramel donut. The donut was decent and I?m glad you could choose if you want the chicken grilled or fried. The spicy breakfast burrito was actually really spicy because of the peppers they had in there but I loved it and it was so big I split it into two portions. The only thing I didn?t like had nothing to do with the food. There was a homeless man that came in and the employee made him leave but afterwards the employee called him a crackhead in fr

These satisfied our morning big hunger. They have different variations of these sandwiches, and they are all soo good. This was the one place that was soo good while we were there on vacation, we went there 2x. It is busy with orders online during the weekend. So I would recommend putting in a order on the weekend online before you go. If not you may have to wait a while

Fantastic donut shop. Wish I could?ve grabbed a chicken sandwich as well but it was a bit too early. Would highly recommend. I got the pistachio glazed and the mini Boston cream. Great texture and tons of flavor.

I read these reviews and I was excited to try this place. I was continuing my quest of eating great fried Chicken. Then I get here and it was very disappointing. They eliminated pretty much any type of chicken with bones except for the chicken wings. they didn't update their menu so you didn't realize that you can get chicken thigh and a leg. The options was get or chicken strips or chicken sandwiches. I didn't want to chicken sandwich at more bread than I want to eat. I got the chicken wings which were o

Had a hot chicken sandwich (medium spiciness) and a pistachio donut. Staff was friendly, professional and helped me learn what horchata is (very tasty! Thank you!). Chicken was crispy, substantial, and just the right level of spice for me. Donut was beautiful, really all of them were. Don't know when I'll be back in town, but will definitely recommend.

Can't speak to the donuts although they looked really good, but spicy chicken sandwich was bomb. Massive chicken breast breaded and deep fried. You get what you pay for. I've tried many fried chicken sandwiches downtown all similar price but none compared to the size of this monster. Heat is perfect too, good kick to get the nose dripping but not too much that you can't enjoy it. The picture makes it look bland but trust me it is not. They also melt cheese under the bun which really adds to the flavor. I wa

OMG what a gem! I didn't remember to take pics of the chicken but the tenders were so juicy and fresh. The breading is not too crunchy and perfectly seasoned. And I don't know where to start with the doughnuts! Iv tried some samples and went with cookies and cream. Best choice.

Wow I was not expecting Birdies to be so great! As soon as we walked in, the staff greeted us and helped us decide what we wanted to eat. They were super friendly and patient. We ended up with a couple of chicken sandwiches and a half dozen donuts. The spicy sandwich was surprisingly spicy (in a very good way) and the breakfast sandwich was also nice and cheesy and delicious. All of the donuts were on point. Seriously, if you go here for either just the chicken or just the donuts, get the other one too! It'

This is easily the best chicken sandwich of my entire life, and I've been back here on multiple occasions so I know it's consistent. The staff has been incredibly friendly every time I've been here also. If you're in LA, do NOT miss Birdies.

Their fantastic chicken sandwich features the juiciest and plumpest fried chicken I've ever had. Their breakfast sandwich is killer too, try that with the chicken only if you are REALLY ravenous. Their fries are crispy and delicious, with or without sauce (they come with ketchup only so ask for any other sauce you'd like for a small charge). This place also features gourmet donuts ($3-$4 per) and EXTREMELY nice staff. Very minimal seating so I'd suggest doing takeout. Totally worth it!

Food is pretty good. I enjoyed the donuts more than the chicken. It's relatively expensive if you're not alone and want to experience chicken and donuts. The restaurant is super small. It seats about 10 people and can get pretty claustrophobic feeling when busy. Parking is a drag too. I would recommend it but prepare for DTLA parking and go during a slow time so you can sit down and eat.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast. Sandwich & service were excellent. Drop by!

The place is a fantastic spot at any point of the week. The drinks are fantastic. My personal recommendation is the horchata latee. The sandwhiches are a great way to spend a lunch. The donuts are also amazing for breakfast or if you?re looking for a sweet treat. Service is great and warm.

A most go, the chicken sandwiches are outstanding I strongly recommend trying spicy (it?s not that spicy, the right amount of flavor). The donuts are amazing my favorites pistachio. Staff is cool, sarcastic and make it fun place to be.

The coffee is superb! Intelligentsia served with latte art & the pastries are works of art. I had a breakfast sandwich & Americano, friends had mocha, strawberry matcha & donuts, all were top notch! 5 stars from all 3 of us!

Great spot the breakfast sandwich was delicious! It is especially great fresh, we had it delivered once and it was still good but definitely better fresh. Their donuts are amazing definitely the best donuts I?ve had in awhile!

It was ok. Honestly I'd prefer Bruxie, The staff was really nice and their doughnuts were delicious, but they were nothing out of the ordinary. Just eye candy. The crispy chicken sandwiches were good but I wish they had a bit more crisp to them. I'd recommend the Tennessee hot or the Birdie's spicy

Came here after a show on Saturday, place was really good. I ordered the breakfast sandwich w/ bacon ???????? food comes quick there was about 5-6 orders in front of me & still didn?t wait a long time. I recommend this spot to try, didn?t get to try the doughnuts but I?m sure they fire as well.

Best donut and breakfast place!!! ?? They have some lunch items as well. We got 3 donuts and a breakfast burrito each. I also got a chai tea!! ?? Everything we ordered was amazing!! Loved everything about this place. Was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly!!! ??

Stopped by this cute little shop and got the avocado toast and some doughnuts. The avocado toast was actually so good, and the bread was perfect. I also tried the pistachio and strawberry donuts, which were amazing. Definitely recommend this place. The people I was with got the chicken tenders, and they said they were some of the best I?ve ever had.

BIRDIES IS CLOSED! this used to be my favorite place to eat, but a place called Duchies is now in their spot. Their chicken sandwiches are alright. No donuts tho. Not yet anyway.

We went there really late after a concert and we were starving. They were friendly and helpful. The chicken tenders were flavorful juicy with a crispy batter. The breakfast sandwich was awesome there was so much bacon on it. Donuts were delicious they have a strawberry shortcake donut, yum. I would definitely go back.

Sweet & Savory . I searched for interesting spots near me and Birdies popped up. What a delicious surprise. Crispy chicken and bacon with a side of sugary sweetness? Yes Please! Awesome staff and great food.

Amazing food & customer service ! It was our first time to Birdies as soon as we arrived we were greeted & helped right away. Our food was delicious including the donuts! A must try we will definitely be back ????

Incredibly disappointing. As a doughnut connoisseur, I have come to sample a variety of amazing donuts over the country. This location was not it at all. All of their donuts were terribly dry. The one redeeming quality is that their staff is friendly and nice. The Oreo donut was only palatable with the help of the sweet cream filling, yet even that tasted processed and put a waxy coating on the top of my mouth. Now the coffee. Absolute WORST coffee I?ve ever tasted, and I?ve had terrible coffees. After one

Birdies is a close walk from L.A. Live, where we stayed in downtown LA. We passed it walking several times and finally decided we had to try their donuts and chicken. Why chicken and donuts have become such a popular food combo, I don't know. But, I do know I don't hate it. I tried the spicy bird. It boasts ghost pepper mayo, but for my taste it was not over the top spicy. The fried chicken breast was great. Perfectly golden brown with a great ratio of crispy breading. The quality of the chicken breast was

Oh oh oh. Their wings! ?? so crispy. I had the lemon pepper dry rub. Smell soo yummy. Probably the best donut shop in dtla! I don?t really have a sweet tooth and I don?t like Krispy kreme for being teeth numbing sweet. Yet, I found birdies? donuts are tasty. My favorite is the pistachio ones. Soft, tasty, with just the right fluff. Recently also tried their cookie n creme ones. The cream was sooo yummy and not overpowering. Also they have chicken & waffle. What?s not to like about this shop?!

The staff was great! They remembered Mr after one visit. I had their breakfast burrito. It was delicious, even though I didn't eat it until about 30 minutes after getting it. I waited to enjoy it at the airport as I waited to board my flight home. I wish I had found this place earlier in my visit.

24/7, great food. Each sandwich is really filling, real lofty. They are made up of multiple chicken tenders instead of the more customary cutlet. Easily one of best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. I think the best benchmark ratio is Chick-fil-A in terms of chicken sandwiches and it's easily a 3?.

The breakfast chicken sandwich was fantastic, and all of the donuts looked super tasty. Staff was friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit for a quick bite or dessert!

These were both great tasting sandwiches , picture #1 is the classic Spicy chicken sandwich and #2 is the Nashville BBQ sandwich. There are a couple of other sandwich options on the menu. They also have a bakery case, with donuts that are specialty made. 10 different types ALL look delicious!! I tried but forgot to photograph the Pistachio Lime donut. Go before noon if you are having it for lunch.

Very good hole in the wall spot that sells fried chicken sandwiches and donuts. I ordered the Birdies Spicy and although it wasn?t as big as I had hoped, it had a lot of flavor and the chicken was very juicy and worked well with all the other ingredients. Staff was very helpful and the food was ready fairly quick. Good spot if you just want to post up on the sidewalk and have a quick bite

Excellent chicken sandwiches. Prices are a little high but willing to support a local business! You have to find parking on your own. Park meter if you can as the $5 dollar parking is for 15 minutes and the meter is $1 per hour during lunch hours. Dont forget to get the doughnuts for dessert!

My god! It was tough to choose what to get, so I decided to make my own combo with a breakfast chicken including bacon. I decided to try the Nashville chicken. Now when I say this place would put other places in the south to shame I mean it! Hot hot was on point. If you can handle it I highly recommend. That and the iced horchata latte. Great place to sit down or take it to go. Next time I?ll have to try a donut. (Come on an empty stomach)

Service was immaculate I got the bites in the hot hot spice. Chicken was crispy. Food came out spicy and perfectly hot and crispy. Hotter than most average Nashville hot chicken. Recommend. As me and 3 of my fellas left we were offered a free donut. I don?t think it?s a regular thing but fire nonetheless.

Their Chicken sandwiches are some of the best I've ever had. This is one of my favorite places. Staff is really nice. Took a little while to prepare my food but that's always worth it for amazing food.

Nashville chicken sando for the win! ???? medium hot was just the right amount of spicy. Didn?t try the donuts but they looked hella bomb! If I can find parking I?ll be back again.

This place was crazy good! Amazing selection of fresh made doughnuts and a great menu of sandwiches. They also serve some fancy shmancy coffee (which I'm not a fan of but have nice distinctive smells). I had a fried chicken, fried egg and bacon sandwich and it was the highlight of my day. That gold doughnut looks amazing too, maybe one day I'll have 100$ to spend on a single dessert.

PSA:This place has better lemonade than Chik Fil a! Honestly this place is amazing! I will be here much more often they have the best donuts, chicken, lemonade & of course customer service! They were super packed the guy at the register( Forgot his name but he had dreads) explained everything to us didn?t rush us & was super cool! This place is a must try! You?ll probably never eat a Popeyes or Chic Fil a sandwich again after coming here!!!

Man this place is awesome. Crazy donuts and be great fried chicken sandwiches. If you like spice ask for be the ghost pepper mayo. Yum!

Spicy sandwich is not spicy. The restaurant's name is no longer Birdies.

I came here with a friend during Outer Edge LA (NFTLA). They have so many options for breakfast, lunch, and the dessert options will likely make you have slurping noises like me haha. I would recommend stopping by this spot to relax with a cup of joe. Very aesthetic donuts with the friendliest crew. ??????????

Came out to try the golden doughnut featured on Buzzfeeds Worth It episode and was several disappointed. They made the place look very friendly and in inviting and i did not feel that at all. Also, when i got the doughnut (which you need to order 2 days ahead) it was put in a box and I guess was expecting me to eat it elsewhere......really? Did it not even occur to ask if I would like to sit an enjoy it? Buyer beware. I just wanted a treat for myself, not high maintenance but the money for this item I r

Donuts were delicious!!! If you are looking for a normal sized donut then I would suggest sharing one!!! They are large and OH SO GOOD!!! Coffee was good as well but we all know we come here for the snacks :)

Really enjoyed the Birdies Original sandwich, the chicken is perfect. Also enjoyed a maple bacon donut, and more varieties kept coming out of the kitchen! Note that the interior is very small with only a short counter across the back wall with a few stools. Taking your order to go is best (my only reason for four stars, not five.)

This food was awesome! As a tourist in L.A I would most definitely make this on my top 5 list. I love love love this restaurant as a first timer. Service was amazing and great food. Amazing! Will most def try again! And the doughnuts are on a whole mother level!??

Birdies DTLA serves free range chicken sandwiches, coffees, and donuts. The sandwiches are just ok. The spicy was a 6 out of 10. The sliders are about the size of a slider at Burgerim so they are a good filling size. The fries are almost the entire container so the portion size is good. The donuts are decadent but these donuts have the consistency of cake. They aren't thin melt-in-your-mouth pastries. They are thick and would probably taste better with a spot of vanilla ice cream or at least with a cup o

Food was amazing! Best breakfast sandwich of my life! It was huge! It was a chicken bacon scrambled egg & cheese, man ??! Customer service was A1! Donuts were also delicious. A must go in downtown LA.

One of the best tasting chicken sandwiches I?ve had. Love the slaw because it has peppers and it gives it a good kick.

At Birdies, every visit is a five-star experience, especially with their incredible Birdies Breakfast Sandwich ? a heavenly combination of crispy fried chicken, savory bacon, a perfectly cooked egg, and my personal twist, added avocado, creating a blend of flavors and textures that's simply unbeatable. Their donuts are equally exceptional; from the sweet and salty Maple Bacon, the zesty Lemon Pistachio, to the delightful Blueberry, each one is a unique, mouth-watering treat.

Really great service and even better food. I was in town for 2 days and hit it both days for breakfast. The fried chicken bacon, egg sandwich was the best I have ever had.

Life Changing! Great food! They let you sample the donuts to help you make your choice. This is great because some of them do not taste how you'd expect. The breakfast sandwich with chicken and bacon was a sloppy mess of orgasmic flavors. I wish I had room for more because we all didn't want the yumminess to end. Can't wait to return!

Must try!! Spicy birdies: same chicken as in the original but it has such a delicious ghost pepper spread!!! Good ratio of bread to chicken. Crispy batter plus the chicken was moist and juicy baby! Def my fav! OG birdies: tangy coleslaw taste complements the fried chicken well! Def has a diff flavor profile from the spicy so order both! Doughnuts: too sweet for my tastebuds. They sure are pretty. The maple bacon didn?t have a strong maple flavor.

Food was perfect. Just gotta get that air conditioner fixed. I was able to eat on thr patio however. I live in Florida, but when Im back in LA, I'm heading here!

Probably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. And omg, the banana creme donut! It tastes like pie but it's a donut.

Birdies was a chill small spot with great breakfast sandwiches. The coffee they made was delicious and the donuts they had looked great and the lady who helped me was awesome! I could barely finish my breakfast.

Breakfast burger was great, made a request for tater tots to added and they politely did it. I love this places food and donuts but my favorite thing is the atmosphere and customer services

Wow the staff welcomed me with open hearts ?? and arms always one of the best places for unique breakfast sandwiches and donuts and coffee ? made fresh.

Original Birdies sandwich taste bland, nothing really special except a very bad customer service. Wait almost 5 minutes till the server decide to hang up the phone and take my order, no apologies to customers. Wait another almost 20 minutes to get my sandwich, it was not busy at all in the restaurant, again no apologies for all the delay. Chicken sandwich got two star but the service got none, averaging out ONE star experience.

Very juicy chicken sandwich, addictive. After I finished the whole sandwich, I ordered another portion of chicken wing. Everything was tasty and fresh. Very very friendly and helpful staff. I'll return whenever I'm in LA.

The best donuts I have ever had. The best donuts you will ever have. Stop reading this review and go stuff your face with them.

I have no problems writing about Birdies was a great sandwich! I had the spicy chicken with ghost pepper mayo. GF had the regular for a dollar less. We has two Cole slaws and a nuttella banana donut for dessert. Tiny place in downtown but there was overflow seating next door. They had loads of yeast style donuts for sale as well as the chicken sammies, fries n coleslaw (menu attached). The sandwich I had was strong spice but still flavorful a really tasty sandwich. I'd say a smooth heat, but not burn your m

Really fancy chicken and doughnut spot. Don't expect to find a simple doughnut though, they all have lots of toppings. The chicken smells better than it tastes.

The chicken. Holy crap. I had the Birdie Bites with Ghost Pepper Mayo earlier today and I'm still drooling just thinking about them. I would say they are the best chicken strips I've ever had. There is a ton of tender white meat in each strip and the breading is that perfect not-too-crunchy kind. I also had a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Donut. It was delicious, but the chicken is why I'll remember this place.

This was the best place we went in LA. First, the ?? we're amazing, and they give you a bunch of free samples to try what you like. Highly recommend the Galaxy vanilla. And the sandwiches had the best friend chicken I've ever tasted. It was thick, juicy, and crispy without being burnt. Have to go here.

Literally the best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten. It's a small little place, with a small menu, but you will not be sorry you checked it out. Plus, they have really cute donuts (pictured) that look amazing!

AAHHmazing! Hand down BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH I've ever had!! Loved the ??'s too ??. Walked in here around 4:30AM and the place was empty for only 5 minutes! Such a cute little shop. Great service too!

Despite having appetizing looking doughnuts, this place has horrible service. I understand they want to help every customer thats comes in but i was waiting for a solid 8 minutes for someone to try the whole selection of doughnuts. I asked if i could jump in since i knew what i wanted. But the peraon behind the counter refused since he was helping someone out. Either hire more people or cut back on free samples!

I got the original chicken sandwich and it didn't amaze me at all. I will admit the chicken was thick and juicy but the slaw that was in it was soggy and I believe taking it to go made it that way. The fries were good and everything else looked good there. I want to give this place another chance next time (will update review when I do) and I will have it there when I go. This place seems to be one of the hottest chicken places in Los Angeles, if you have the chance check it out because it seems like everyo

This place has all kinds of original doughnuts and you can try samples of the doughnuts so you can choose the right one! I came here on a Sunday around 7pm so i got parking right in front of the store. I got the cookie and cream filled doughnut and it was good but I?ve had better

A delicious and friendly location with doughnuts and coffee, breakfast sandwiches and chicken. Everything has a unique flair and flavor all its own. The staff is wonderful and it's a great spot to feel alive.

Loved the chicken here!! We ordered the birdie bites, breakfast sandwich, and a pop rocks donut. The chicken is so juicy and they make it to order so it's extremely hot when you get it. The breading is so crunchy and we'll seasoned. Along with the ghost pepper sauce that comes along with it, it's amazing! The breakfast sandwich uses the same large fried chicken tenders with a creamy dill sauce on a semi sweet bun. Just wish the egg was over easy so the yolk would run out but it came as a hard fried egg. T
