Heading into Cookeville today on errands I searched out the highest rated donut shops and read reviews. I?m always on the hunt to compare to my CA favorite donut place. The owner of Big O Donuts replied as he should to an improper review and so off I went. Walking in there are cases of donuts wall to wall! Nice, good sized donuts with many choices. I picked the large apple fritter and a dozen filled and miscellaneous ones that looked great. Everything looked great! I?ve eaten and sampled more than half. The

Blue is my new go to for donuts, he was so nice and helpful, great personality. Excellent experience. And the donuts, melt in your mouth, yummy, yummy, yummy. The store was spotless. Reminds me of New Orleans beignets.

Great donuts, patient/kind staff and fun colorful retro interior. I tried the coconut cream donut (which to be fair, if there?s coconut anything, that?s my jam) and it did not disappoint! Stayed fresh long into the day as I only ate a few bites to begin with and saved the rest for later. My friend said her blueberry donut was the best one she?s ever had!

Besides having the most delicious, good sized donuts, their breakfast food is INCREDIBLE. They make the best biscuits I have ever had. I really do wish they were still 24hours. Staff is always friendly, shop is clean. Highly recommend!

Just had a delicious jalepeno bagel sandwich from here and was super impressed! Sandwich was incredibly hot and so tasty. Got a blueberry cake donut that was fresh and soft. First time here and won?t be my last!

If you?re passing through Tennessee, you have to stop here!!!! These are the best donuts you?ll ever come across! Their menu ranges from the classics all the way to better than Starbucks coffees! It is very evident that the owner and the employees care very much about every customers experience when they visit. I stopped in around 530 last night (they close at 6pm)!to get a couple donuts for the weekend. This was one of the best donut shops I?ve been to. The strawberry cream filled glazed donut was amazing. Just so good. Chocolate covered and glazed were great too. Huge selection. Coffee was fresh. Super friendly people working there. Also love that they?re open 24 hours.

Per suggestion of some local friends we stopped into this amazing local donut shop. We were absolutely not disappointed with this donut shop. We tried quite a variety and they were all great. The cotton candy tastes just like cotton candy!!

Coffee had good flavor but was lukewarm. Chocolate doughnut was stale. It was 5:30 p.m. so it is understandable if doughnuts aren't at their freshest, but this was more like one or two days old. However, it is close to the park and the menu is extensive with breakfast foods all day and lots of drink options, including smoothies and many herbal teas, giving it an extra star.

Absolutely love the staff and donuts! Best in cookeville and east tennessee imo! Donuts are always made fresh and best part is they're open 24/7. Apple fritter is amazing and gigantic but personally I love the Bavarian cream long johns! I think Big O is "thee" best doughnut in town! Cinnamon rolls are outstanding! Ever had one of their fresh made biscuit sandwiches?? OMG!! TO die for. They have a big variety to choose from. Their biscuits are awesome as well, I don't even bother making biscuits anymore, I just stop in once in awhile and get a half dozen & go home & make gravy. There bathrooms are always clean. I was traveling across the country and I heard that Cookeville has some of the best donuts in Tennessee. While I enjoyed the donuts at Big O, I did have some problems. The price of the donuts compared to the competition is a lot higher, they arranged a strange selection like pickle donuts, and the inside did not appeal to my tastes. The blue and pink swirl consumed my eye sight like a overstimulating whirlpool I did not regret stopping by with my wife, but I would not recommend for any travelers looking for

The small cinnamon rolls are soooo good!!! I'm also impressed with how their donuts stay fresh longer than other donuts do. Donuts make me happy, and Big O Donuts definitely make me happy! ?? The employees are also super nice and friendly.

Ate here for the first time today. Excellent donuts. We mixed the box up pretty good and I was impressed with every flavor I ate. People think there's no difference in donuts like a donut is a donut but I prefer a local place like this since they don't defrost them like major chains. When I have the hankering for another I'll be back great place and a menu that goes beyond just donuts as well.

Mmmmm. This is a must try when in Cookeville. The raspberry jelly is amazing and they actually have a lot of filling. Chocolate is wonderful, soft chewy deliciousness. Wait until you see the giant cinnamon roll. If only the added chocolate to that this place just might be perfect.

They also serve the best in town chocolate biscuits and gravy and an equally as amazing and one of a kind honey chicken cheddar biscuit that are both to die for! I have been eating donuts from here ever since I was a little kid. The food is great and I have never encountered a less than neighborly employee behind the counter. Pretty good sized donuts and very fair prices. I highly recommend considering Big O Donuts if you're looking for breakfast, a treat at the office, something for a celebration, or even a midnight snack. The hours alone are unbeatable. This is one of the gems of Cookeville. If you haven't already, give them a try.

Damn near $20 for 6 donuts and a single large coffee is kinda steep.

Had a fantastic experience here. Honestly didn't know they served any kind of food, so I was just about starving and ordered the BBQ chicken wrap. It was absolutely amazing. The blueberry cake donut was also the best thing I've tasted in a long while.

Upon looking for doughnuts in cookeville, I came across these reviews, or specifically the owner's response to them. I've eaten here once a while back, and was not impressed with dried out doughnuts but was even less impressed with the employees. Now I know why. The owner's response on these reviews is unprofessional at best. Was looking to give you another shot but I cant after seeing your responses. Get some anger management and humility and quit arguing with customers. Good God man.

Very pleasant shop! Low key, very friendly staff, fair prices and lovely products! At 75 I'm a bit "wobbly "... they carried my purchase to my vehicle without my asking. I may be partial to Big O because I grew up eating big o donuts and have many fond memories of the place. It is the bar that I rate all other donuts. In my opinion they have the best donuts in the area. The staff are friendly most visits. The variety is always good and fresh on my visits (except on a late night munchie run). The value is still pretty good after all these years.

AMAZING, I compared Ralph's to here and here is WAY BETTER, you spend a few more cents BUT the doughnuts are bigger and better. I have never been to either of these places before, I just heard from a student to compare and I did and this place was just much better.

Best kept secret in Tennessee., Seriously .. And they run out of my favorite 2 types so I had to get strategic on bake times! My son went to TTU and has since graduated and moved to California ... Yes I even once overnited him a box of donuts frozen when he wasn't feeling well. They are as incredible as the little town itself. I miss it so. Their donuts are very dry and tasteless. Had the massive apple fritter and it tasted like wheat bread with a hint of sweet. Ralph's is definitely the best in cookeville but sadly they're not open on Sundays as Big Os is.

My 1st time here. Staff was nice. However the chocolate twist was very dry, I couldn?t even swallow. After talking to several different individuals they have received the same with other type of doughnuts here at this establishment. I for one will not go back. It?s not worthy of my time nor money.

The donuts are delicious! Lived next door 4 years ago and loved their fresh biscuits in the mornings. Large table area and windows give it a nice atmosphere. Coffee is pretty good, too!

Big O is a good place to get a variety of donuts and coffee flavors, including hot, iced, or frozen. They aren't my favorite frozen coffee, more of a "get one since you're already here" quality rather than make a special trip quality. The donuts are very good, but not the best I've ever had.

UPDATE 4 YEARS AFTER ORIGINAL REVIEW: The doughnuts are still the best I've ever had, but the hours they're open have gotten screwy. Yesterday they were closed for Washington's birthday. I don't really understand that, but ok. Today though, they were closed again, and their usual day to be closed is Wednesday. I used to be a regular customer about ten years ago when a student at Tech. I stopped by on a road trip especially to get the donuts at Big O?s. Got a dozen and was very disappointed to be given old and stale donuts. It was the afternoon, so I understand them not being 100% fresh, but these were at least a day old. Sadly, the quality has dropped since my time in Cookeville. The iced coffee is also about 80% sugar 20% coffee.

They serve a good variety of both cake and yeast donuts. Huge, yummy cinnamon rolls!! Decent prices. We always like to stop here when we're in town.

I love Big O's donuts but honestly I am tired of trying to catch them at the right time to get the donuts I like. I have actually gone over there 3 times on the same day to get some but always out because they only make a few and I don't eat enough to order multiple dozens. Now that they are a mile further away than they used to be, it isn't worth the trouble.

Get there in the morning and try their warm breakfast items. I love their sausage biscuit. Their donut selection is great. Im disappointed that they cut their hours, I used to come in all the time for that late night desert. But I understand the world post COVID is limited. Hopefully they can go back to being open late in the future.

Not as good as Ralph?s but better than all the other options. it?s open 24/7 so if Ralph?s is closed I?ll go there. Donuts are medium priced aka not expensive but not super cheap. I?ve always visited really early in morning and the donuts were not stale like others said. The owners response to other complaints on here really put me off more than anything. After reading his nasty comments to people I doubt I?ll ever go back now. Sad.

I think it has changed hands. Years ago, it was great, but it went totally downhill. Donuts were seldom fresh and the selection was poor. In the last couple of years it has improved but is still nowhere near what it used to be. I'd rather go to Ralph's.

Four stars because the donuts are good but the coffee is nothing to write home about. They are one of the few places in Cookeville that is open 24 hours so that is a plus. I have not been here since they moved locations but it is definitely in a far less sketchy area than the old place.

the workers are nice and i like that it?s open 24 hrs especially being a tech student but the donuts definitely aren?t the best. they are always kind of stale when i get them no matter the time and their card limit makes it so you have to get more than you want if you don?t carry cash (like most college kids)

Best stick with donuts. Stopped by on way through for a tenderloin biscuit. Meat and biscuit were microwaved, aweful! Would not expect an Owner to agree with a bad review. Just telling it like it is.

This was my first time being there. Person behind counter was very nice. They didn?t have a big selection of donuts at all but they did have some right out of the oven glazed donuts and donut holes The ones we got was very good and a very good reasonable price. I will definitely go back.

I do not like donuts. Having said that, I love Big O Donuts. This place is a Cookeville, Tennessee institution, and every time I walk in and smell the freshly fried bread, I am reminded of my childhood. I don't know exactly how long this place has been around, but I remember my dad taking me in the mid-Eighties. You can keep your Kryspy Cream or your Duncan's because there will never be another Big O Donuts!

Our first time experience at this donut shop was awesome! The service was great and the people working there were very nice. We got an assorted dozen. In all honesty me and my fianc? believe this donut shop blows Krispy Kreme out the water 100%. We will be visiting again!

Since being under new ownership, Big O's has been fixed up, cleaned up, and now looks like an actual business. The food choices have been expanded beyond doughnuts, and everything I've tried has been great (though my favorite item is still their giant cinnamon roll). There is usually plenty of seating, though the place itself is on the small side.

This place is great. They have more then just donuts too. They offer a variety of breakfast items and coffees, lattes and more. Price are relatively cheap too. I stumbled upon this Big O Donuts in Cookeville, TN by accident, but boy I am glad I did. At 2:30pm on a Thursday I didn't think there would be a huge selection but I was surprised that they did and all of the donuts were big. Their coffee was hot and fresh. I am only here for another day but I will be back again tomorrow morning for sure!

Love the donuts here. Fresh made at any time of day. They have plenty of tables to sit at and WiFi and you can get coffee or other drinks. Try the Apple fritters that are as big as your face!
