Bearscat Bakehouse - Bismarck

I recently visited Bearscat Bakehouse in Bismarck for the first time and, unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. While the donuts themselves were good, the clear highlight of the visit, the service left much to be desired. The staff member who assisted us was rude and impatient, despite us making it clear that we were first-time customers and unfamiliar with their offerings. Very nice doughnuts, and even nicer people. I passed through town with some friends and we wanted to eat Bismarks in Bismarck. They had a wide variety, and threw in a free bearscat doughnut so we could experience the local style before leaving town.

A fun store with as nicely decorated (Halloween decorations this time) waiting and sitting area inside as it does a wide, creative (and widely named) selection of donuts. The most famous donut and company namesake is the Bearscat donut that looks like what it is named but gratefully tastes otherwise. My favorite is the Almond Joy. I know they are expanding and now have stores in Mandan and Minot, ND and Salem, OR. I also know the owners are generous benefactors to the needy in the community.

This place was a nice surprise! I really enjoyed their Kramer donut (not so much their chocolate bearscat donut). Woulda liked to have tried the Twix one too, but they didn?t have any made the day I called. Based on my tepid interaction with the staff, I had braced myself for mediocre donuts at best. But whew, the donuts were gooey and moist and everything Sandy?s (in Fargo) hadn?t been earlier that day. Glad we gave Bearscat a try. ??

Their selection of donuts is as amazing as the actual taste! For the last two times I came to Bismarck, I was extremely pleased with the taste and selection of these do items. My favorite - the almond joy!

Ordered this for my then ex-husband?s surprise bday and it was a hit. Everyone kept asking, is this cake really a donut?! Quite a wow factor.

Great place to drop by and grab some donuts. I used to come here back when the building used to be a Donut Hole. They have a good selection. I used to get all my donuts at Dan's Supermarket but after the rebrand into Family Fare they increased the price of their donuts and now it is just shy of the price here. Except the dough here is better. So now this is my new place for donuts

I like donuts. A lot. Some may say too much. These are among the finest donuts I've ever consumed. A veritable cornucopia of donuts appeal to the tastes of a wide variety of donut connoisseurs. It looks a little rough around the edges on the inside, but I suspect it is because the proprietors are focused on one thing, and one thing only: making delicious donuts.

Bearscat was handing out Halloween coloring sheets to kids. They told my daughters that if they complete the coloring sheet they would get a free donut when they brought the sheet back in. They were excited, colored the sheets over the weekend. We returned the sheets this morning and were told that they get a token for a free donut to use on their next visit. When we pulled up to Bearscat, the parking lot was packed, with more vehicles pulling in. I thought that we would have a long wait once we entered the store, but that was not the case. We were waited on within minutes by a very friendly employee. All the staff that were there were friendly and taking care of all the customers. I doubt anyone waited more than a couple of minutes for service. And the donuts? Fresh and delicious. Don't let the name fool you - these are some of the best donuts in town.

Been looking for good donuts (yeast donuts, not cake donuts) since moving to North Dakota from Texas four years ago. Found this gem on a rare morning trip to Bismarck. Great donuts, would have been better if warm.

The people working were fairly nice. The card reader was not working. So, I had to go to the atm and come back. I went to the Bearscat Bakehouse today to purchase a couple of Maple donuts. They were incredibly greasy and were ice cold, as if they were leftovers from yesterday. I called, not sure who I spoke to. They assured me they were baked fresh today, however they were aware of an issue with the maple toppings not coming out right...yet they still sold it to me anyway and charged full price for it. Donuts are freshly made (from scratch) daily! I love when I walk in and see a glass case full of variety! I know other customers haven't touched them because they pick the donuts out that I want out of the glass case. The staff is beyond cheerful and owner is awesome at training his crew for success!

Not sure why the reviews are so good, the service was fine but 20 bucks for 8 doughnuts that were the worst doughnuts I've ever had was mind boggling. I couldn't recommend this to anyone. Old review: Mediocre donuts with a seemingly random assortment of toppings and fillings. Nowhere near the best donuts i've tried, but certainly among the most expensive. If you have money to waste and want a slightly-better than convenience store donut, go for it. Update: Changed review to 4 stars. This time the donuts were much better. Given how positive the other reviews are, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and say my first visit there was just an off batch.

Doughnuts are good but overpriced. I was there with my son in his stroller and, contrary to store info via Google, it does NOT have a wheelchair accessible entrance. Parking? Yes. But neither of the two doors were powered to allow easy entrance for wheelchairs or strollers. You are dependant upon your own creativity or the chance that someone is entering or leaving at the same time as you. Plus, the employee helping me wasn't very friendly. I felt like I was inconveniencing her.

Bearscat Bakehouse is home to some of the best donuts in North America. They make airy donuts that have the right amount of sugar and oil. The icing on the cake (so to speak) are the funkier flavors that taste as good as they sound. The salted caramel, Snickers, and good ol' cinnamon sugar were my favorite donuts.

These donuts are seriously the best I have ever had. Better than Krispy Kreme. The dough is so fresh tasting. Even the sprinkled is fantastic, and I say that because I would usually opt for a jelly or creme filled. I'm not a fan of sweets usually, but when it is worth it, it is worth it. These donuts are worth every single calorie.

Not even good enough to give any stars!!! But had otherwise couldn't post. The lady's behind the counter were rude and had snide remarks. We only ordered two pastries because we had never been there before. These girls acted crabby cause we only asked for two. I dont care for this kind of service. The two pastries we tried had an old grease tasting. Really poor service. Disappointed ??

The lodge we stayed at recommended this place and it was quite the excursion. Not only did we get excellent pastries, the community was worth the drive. The people were very friendly and invited us to hang out and have pizza that evening. As good as the food is, the experience was better!

Co-workers had brought donuts from here a few times and they seemed alright. Upon going there myself was disappointed by lack of variety and no bear claws (my boyfriend's favorite). Donuts I bought were ok but definitely not that great. Price was not awful but I would rather pay the grocery store price for what others claim are "100% not homemade" than return here. Might have better luck at the Mandan location.

I will preface this by saying thay we travel all over the country for work and that I have a major sweet tooth. When my boyfriend told me to go here n get some donuts I was a little wary. Every Saturday morning my honey and myself go to Bearscat & get 4 donuts. Great price, less than $6 and there's always new delicious flavors to try. All time favorite is the salted caramel! We look forward to it every week :)

My lil girl turned 4 and i made it a thing to take my girls to bearscat for their birthdays, my daughter pick her doughnuts and this gal offered to make her a special sprinkle doughnut. If the guy is working, stay away, he doesn't want to help you anyway. The girl staff is always friendly with me, but I may start driving to the mandan one just to avoid the guy with 0 customer service skills. Plus mandan has a better variety of donuts for some odd reason (it's the one spawned off this location) .

I am from NYC and stopped by on a whim as I drove through Bismarck during a road trip out west. We have thousands of bake shops in New York and I have never found one that even comes close to the quality of Bearscat. Absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD donuts. I was the biggest fan of the Maple Bacon donut and the Raspberry filled donut but it seems like you can't go wrong no matter what you are craving. Wish I could give 6 stars. It's really that good.

Ive worked with donuts for years, and I can tell you these are Real Donuts! People need to understand that this is the ONLY place in Bismarck that MAKES donuts. Bearscat runs a clean bakery with a very wide variety of tasty doughnut baked in-house. They have everything from your standard chocolate ring doughnuts to long johns covered with Fruity Pebbles. The staff is helpful with recommendations and even when they're busy they don't try to rush you. These definitely aren't the sub-$1 doughnuts you get from a grocery store. The drink options, however, do feel a bit overpriced to me.

Bearscat catered the desserts for our wedding and they looked and tasted great and I heard nothing but good things from our guests! I enjoyed the large variety of flavors, and everyone I spoke with over the phone or via email were professional and helpful.
