Mt Vernon, Ohio 43050
little small town store, whose weekly sales are great. Obviously not as many options as a big box chain, but a much faster shopping experience if just after essentials.
Very nice store, friendly, fair prices, Easy store to shop In and out quickly Thanks I will make this my main grocery store! I'm walking the mile It's worth it!
Local. I recently watched an old one star film about a small-time grocery store with like three employees and one owner, remind you of being back in the 80s. But their prices are much lower than their neighbor Kro...
Great store with lots of fresh food! Got some delicious beef to make spaghetti and meat sauce! Friendly cashier Kim!??
I would recommend shopping here most of the employees are really nice just hope you don't have to deal with the ancient manager he doesn't seem to be very nice maybe he was having a bad day. If not for him I'd have gave 5 stars.
Prices are too high but the convenience of not having to go to the other side of town in nice
We come for the free morning coffee and leave with the groceries we need! Prices here are unbeatable. Best bang for your buck along with Aldi in this town. They don?t have EVERYTHING- but if you?re anything like me and end up buying way too much of stuff you don?t need?then Bakers is for you ha! The staff is also a huge reason why we always go back. So nice and you just get that family feel.
Great local store with friendly and helpful people
Very awesome Awesome Awesome employees. Always nice and helpful.
I don't do a lot of grocery shopping here. There prices are higher than Kroger and Walmart. However, they make the best donuts! I will go there early just for their donuts.
IGA is nice if you live on the West end but personally, only for convenience of not driving across town. The prices are outrageous & I've found numerous items that were expired on the shelves. Hopefully with new management Mount Vernon will see & receive a more positive, cost friendly change.
Cyndi in the bakery makes the most AMAZING cakes at a very reasonable price! And the cake was delicious!
The staff is always friendly and happy to help. Not a huge selection of merchandise but they?ve got all the essentials and can usually save you from a trip across town to Kroger. The deli has a really tasty macaroni salad & the bakery donuts are great.
Its home feeling instead of like a big retailer
Smaller, independent grocery with friendly staff. Much more relaxed and personal than the larger chain stores and they have their own "bargains." Clean and accessible restrooms.
What a treat of a little neighborhood grocery store after getting used to the hassle and product disappointment of the big ones! I'll be taking my family members with anxiety here to shop often because we had a lovely time. It felt like the corner grocer I used to visit weekly with my Grandma, clean and neat, comfortably lit, wonderful meat selection, and the donuts can't be beat. We visited yesterday mistaking the date of the meat sale on a birthday dinner trip, and still walked out feeling we'd scored
We really like this little store. It has a great small town homey feel. Obviously the prices are not always as low as the local "big box" grocery stores but they are not bad either. They do have a off brand available so that helps if you are willing to use non brand items. The facility is clean, bright and spacious. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. If you enjoy a more relaxed, laid back, small town experience this is the place for you.
Don't get upset because you see some high prices on some items, this is to be expectes at a small store. Their bakery and meat department are great. I've had staff from both departments go out of their way to help me get exactly what I wanted, and it's always been great quality with great prices as well. Besides local freezer meat, all of my meat comes from this store. Please continue supporting them and other local businesses!
To the expensive, and the fruit and cheese dishes we bought for a friend, she was upset at us, because the cheese was molded underneath the top slices and the fruit, in fruit dish was spoiled We paid Alot for these trays and we were saddened it just brought her family more grief. She said she's bought a few things here around Holidays that should not have been sold to the public. Employees were nice but the food is costly and service tray foods ,be careful.
I'm parshall to the place, I work in the deli. I shopped there long before becoming an employee. It's like stepping back in time when you walk in doors. Friendly, clean and convenient store. Fresh donuts and baked goods daily.
Stop down to get red gold ketchup only to find they no longer carry this product . This was the last place I know that sells it. I was very disappointed, my hunt continues .
The BEST donuts!! As soon as you walk in you can smell them. Mmmmm! The ladies at the back are always so friendly.
They don't have the cheapest prices, or the biggest selection. If you want that, you go to places like Wal-Mart. HOWEVER, I am personally okay with paying more and shopping here when I can. Not only is it supporting a local business against the big-box stores, but they also tend to have a unique selection of products that I tend not to see elsewhere. Additionally, they run sales often and it's not like the prices are THAT much higher. They have their own value brands ad well, like the All Save brand which i
It's okay if you need something close to home. Amazing donuts and bakery staff. Employees are generally nice. Terrible produce options, store could be cleaner. Ice cream is freezer burnt like it has melted and been re-frozen. And I only say this because it has been like that the past several times we've bought it from there, expensive Ben and Jerry's only tastes freezer burnt at this store.
I love coming here for a few specifics, like hamburger and donuts, but very pricey...hands down best damn donuts I've ever had in my life!! So it may cost more shopping here, but it's right around the corner and it beats going all the way across town and having to deal with big grocery stores, with more people, higher volumes of traffic, further parking, && the fact that u leave with everything but what you came there for,(l.o.l.) like Walmart and Kroger...
Love this smaller local store, so much less hassle than big chain stores. My family for three generations now have shopped here. Only problem is prices. Some are slightly higher than big stores, some considerably higher. That's the reason for rating 3 stars rather than 5. I expect higher price but some are way too high, even for a convenience store.
Personally I think this place is a little on the expensive side. Tip, Check out their ad for deals on meat. They will have some great deals on meat occasionally, just have to look for it. They usually display their big deals on their sign out front. It's good for running in and grabbing a few things, but I wouldn't do all my grocery shopping here..
Employees are helpful to courteous and friendly. I'm always stopping in for things. I couldn't find Shears Puffed Popcorn a couple of times do management looked up when Shears delivers so I stop on Mondays or Tuesdays to get them.
Very friendly staff greet you as you enter and ask if you need help. It's a small store, so they can't have everything. Their bakery makes the best glazed donuts in town. Love the $1 section too.
Highest prices in town. Meat, milk, bread, and deli is higher priced than anywhere in mt vernon. IGA has always been a welfare, food stamp store. I doubt they will stay open long with these prices.
Nice little store. Could have had a nice grocery store in Fredericktown but NOBODY wants to support one. All they want to do is talk about how nice it would be to have one but when given the opportunity not enough people will support having our own grocery store. 4 different stores have opened and closed in the 20 years I've lived here because of lack of community support.
This is a nice, small grocery store. They have a good selection of items that you can choose from. A lot of times in these small grocery stores they only have one kind of item and you can choose from the store brand or name brand and that's it but Bakers has a very nice selection of things. And if you haven't had one of the glazed croissants from the bakery then you are missing out on something amazing!
Great small grocery. Decent beer selection too. I go here in a pinch.
I like this little grocery store. The people who work here are friendly and helpful. They have a decent selection. Prices are a little high, yet it beats driving across town. The only complaint i have is the produce department does not get stocked well and often the produce is rotten or going bad.
Baker's is your traditional small town grocer. The place is immaculately clean. The floors shine, shelves are in order and well stocked. The fresh food is displayed nicely. Its best attribute is the employees. These folks are friendly and courteous. The checkout and deli folks always have a smile. The product selection is decent and well priced.
Very clean and good variety. Of course, some prices little higher than big chain box stores, but it's nice to support a local store with lots of local staff and products. And shop sales flyers--prices quite competitive.
The lines were long only 2 only office line and 1 other. No express lane. I had 2 items and had to wait a good 10 to 15 minutes. They should have 1 express open and the store manager was just sitting at desk watching and should have been helping. So if your in a hurry for a item or 2 pay the price and go to Wal-Mart.... Your explanation does make since but what doesn't is WHY WASN'T THE MANAGER HELPING INSTEAD OF WATCHING AND THE CASHIER DID CHECKOUT AND LOTTERY WINDOW...
Such nice people... Reminds me when we had small towns! Prices were really good! The meat cuts were awesome and priced well! Support the small stores like this or they will be gone!
I really want to like and support this store because I love to support small business and honestly the donuts are amazing. But everytime I go there the employees are incredibly rude. I went in this morning for donuts and the older women was not kind to me at all. Everytime we use WIC there the employees are rude about that as well.
We love this smaller grocery! It is so pleasant to be in, clean, neat, and staff so friendly! Wish their prices could compete with Walmart, and of course, they cannot, or I'd buy ALL my groceries there! My family loves it!
I was very disappointed with the quality of products I purchased the other day. The cupcakes were decent, but everything else was below par; the apple turnovers were undercooked& had barely any filling, the 3 1-liter Dr. Peppers were flat, & the box of danishes was stale. U would think that the prices they charge would insure quality products.
I only go here for the donuts. Which deserve 5 stars alone. Most of the cashiers seem like they are always in a bad mood though. And they dont seem to like different races of people in this store. Prices are way too high too..
It was great! Went there because stupid Wal-Mart did not have several items we needed. The new remodeled Wal-Mart is a joke. They should be ashamed. Many items missing. No Colby cheese, no distilled water, no pickles we like and no canned cherries. Got them quickly here and were on our way. Hope more people choose stores like this one in lieu of stupid Wal-Mart!
They always have the items I'm looking for specifically Smith's peach tea & fresh donuts. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I also enjoy their fresh produce section
Good place to grocery shop. Some prices are comparable to Wal-Mart and Kroger. New owners. Their prices are similar to a convenient store.a quick place to shop when you forget something at another store.
This is a great hometown grocery. It is NOT a huge corporate store. That is a nice change. It has the charm and personal touch that the big stores don't have. Everyone that works here is friendly and helpful.
I can't believe they have a security guard standing at the door checking for mask. Only went there because we ordered a birthday cake, it was great. Compliments to the baker on a job well done.
Vicki really does care about customers my wife and I just came in from Cleveland clinic wanting to get home she didn't know that as usual even though she probably wanted to get home too but she ran me thru fast lane. Not first time all employees treat customers great hope Baker s know what they got
Baker's has a good selection of meats, produce, wines, beer, etc, and the prices are reasonable. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the check out moves fast. What's not to like?!?
Prices are up everywhere. This store has little to nothing in the freezer section. Perhaps renovation? Lots of baked goods. Friendly staff!
Small town grocery, trying to stay in business against more corporate giants like Kroger and Wal-Mart. Bought out by IGA, Bakers hasn't changed much over the years. Prices are higher then most reflecting a struggling grocery of its size to turn profit. Selection isn't great, but has the essentials. Perks are its never busy, easy in and out, and hardly ever a wait. The gem is its bakery which has the best donuts in the city and the reason many of us keep returning.
Great little store with a lot of variety. Always stocked and produce section is full of good options. Really good chocolate milk available. AMAZING donuts!
Just not impressed with the layout, never have been. The deli is less appealing now than it once was, I don't trust buying salads that are displayed all day in aluminium pans. Plus, I feel they are still too pricey. They are a sad substitute for Aldi's. I'll be going back there when they reopen in September, even though it is further from home.
Decent neighborhood market. Has all the basic grocery items. Also has a meat produce dairy deli bakery and alchohol depts. Has the small town appeal. Not the bustle if a Krigers store. Parking is adequate but it's difficult as t times to get out of parking lot due to heavy traffic.
They have the best baked goods and the ladies are always very kind. I appreciate how they always make you feel welcome.
Stopped on for yogurt and also bought a HUGE cinnamon roll! Prices were reasonable. The store is older but neat and clean...
Good service & prices. Employees very friendly. It was a little hard to find what I wanted, probably because I'm not In there often. Selection could be better.
I enjoy shopping here. I dont feel overwhelmed like the bigger stores. People are very friendly. The bakery always has delicious pastries!
I understand the lack of employees, but the bakery isn't worth a damn anymore, the donuts are always under or over done, bread is always put in bag warm causing condinsation and wet moldy bread ! Saddens me honestly
Good little store. Friendly employees. Prices a little high for my liking in frozen foods and in some other sections but there's always a lot of "Manager Specials."
Nice to see smaller businesses still around. Bakers gives off the ole Mom&Pops vibe. Stalked shelfs, reasonable prices, little wait for deli and. Check out..
Honestly I don't like shopping here ever since they switch the name they're too expensive and their stuff sits on the shelves too long
Prices are steep but I can find a few items that are rare in town here. Store is always clean and lovely staff.
Great staff! Very friendly and courteous! Store needs a faceflift badly though. Smells musty, cracked floors, and holes in random places.
The BEST donuts ?? in Knox County. And all the Staff are so pleasant. The most perfect small town market???
Nice place to shop for groceries, they have a deli all kinds meats and cheeses salads, big selection of fruits with friendly faces all reasonably priced...thanks
Very strict following Covid restrictions. No mask - No service. Good food choices. Prices a little higher than some other stores, but the service makes up for it.
Baker's is the most underrated grocery store in town. Honestly, doing a lot of item to item price comparison, they will almost always beat out Krogers and still have a wide selection to cover most anything you are looking for.
I hadn't been in here since it was rebranded. Not a regular shopper, but I was looking for malted milk powder, which they did have (and Kroger didn't). It seems to have been cleaned up a bit, and they're running an old-school merchandise promotion, which I haven't seen in years. Stop in if you haven't been there since it was Neff's.
Always clean and staff is friendly and helpful. Highly expensive. Double the price of other stores
Great prices, tasty baked goods!
Nice store. The prices are a bit high priced. Good place to grab a few things. Clean store. Cashiers are friendly.
This is a nice IGA. I found some great products. I wish I still had an IGA near me so I could get some of those products again.
Cute little grocery store. The staff have been above and beyond helpful, and kind to me, especially when they find out I am from out of town. 10 stars to them. ??
The bakery is great, the cake we ordered turned out amazing and tasted great. Awesome donuts as well. Thank you!
Convenience of a small store, prices slightly higher than others but they do have the best doughnuts in town
IGA prices are very high. I can go to Walmart or Kroger's and get the same product for $2+ cheaper. Example.: Hawaiian fruit drinks.. Little over $3 and they are $1.98 anywhere else. It adds up at the end.
I really like this grocery store. It's well kept and good prices. In a really convenient location.
Good prices and selection. And 5% off every Tuesday!
Good grocery store. Within walkable distance from us which is great for a thing or two we forgot to buy
Horribly high prices but the employees are possibly the friendliest people I've seen in Mount Vernon. I feel sorry for the people who need to shop there.
Kinda overpriced. Went because it was convenient to pick up a bag of chips.
I like our IGA. Some items are a little pricey but they have a few different generic brands for great prices. It's nice having a grocery store on the south side.
I just want to say thank you to the young ladies that helped my grandmother out on Saturday she was under the weather and they helped her home and made sure that she was ok .I love the fact that this establishment has such amazing people that care thanks again Derrick Depolo.
Poor management, employees get their checks, and they can't carry them because there is no money in the account.
Great store with all the amenities needed for our weekend trip.
Great store with good selection of groceries at lower cost than Kroger. Has a great meat, bakery and deli section.
